  1. Joe, Thanks for taking a look. I'm afraid that I wasn't really clear. In the 1st post, there are 2 different PBR views. The camera was shifted slightly so that I could show how that right-hand pendant is truncated when it is between the camera and the glass door. I think that this shift in the camera is why you aren't seeing the wall on the left beside the wall ovens. In the second posting, I have drawn a cyan circle around the right-hand pendant to illustrate what is missing ~40% of the fixture. The 2nd pix is a 10 pass RT of exactly the same view - no shift in the camera. Thank you again for your thoughts, ~Cheryl
  2. These are the same Camera View. The 1st is a 10 pass RT that took 12 min. The 2nd is the PBR that was immediate. Why is the right-hand pendant partially missing with PBR?
  3. I wonder if you are experiencing materials (interior) that disappear in front of windows. I seem to be devoting a lot of time futzing with transparency trying to get a realistic look between camera views that are only shifted a small distance (but in front of a window or glass door). If so, how are you dealing with it? Adjust Material Settings between shots, like I do? In this case, look at the Light Fix on the Right side. I don't know how this would look with a RT, maybe I should try.
  4. Do you have Reflections turned on? In the last picture it looks like the lights are off, also where are the sun & windows? I made myself a tiny PBR toor bar like this one so that I can get to the appropriate settings quickly. HTH
  5. Profinish, do you want a reflection? If so, do you want it to be like a mirror, a polished surface, just reflect light but not an image?
  6. Prorefinish: are you wanting more reflectivity or less? You are right, it's the settings and an easy fix once we give you the secret handshake.
  7. I use an Intous (wired) with Ver X10 - and love it!
Very nice, love the backyard as background!
  8. As always, Mark offers sage advice from one who has tried many ways to improve! Thanks, Mark!
  9. Since I now design mostly K&B remodeling projects, I set up several Templates with the ceiling hgt, door hgt Cab Brand, & Overlay identified in the name. Such as 96 80 CS KM FO for an 8' ceiling with 6'8" door & window hgt on a crawl space using Kraftmaid cabs that have a full overlay. All my templates now include the number of lights set to 100 and the sun at 500 lumens so that I can have a better start at PBR from the get go. Using these templates has saved me a good bit of time and was well worth the time investment. Templates help to keep designing fun with less mundane futzing.
  10. I used PBR and adjusted the lights (cans are Off) to 100. I didn't have some of your textures, like the rugs, red sofa, etc. But, this should give you an idea
  11. Stager, Thanks for starting this thread! I'm learning a lot.
  12. PBR = Physical Based Rendering I now use it exclusively as it is very fast and allows editing 'on the fly." But, I am not trying to produce EXACT renderings as to the time of day, GIS coordinates, and precise materials. My job is to get enough information into the picture to make viewers like the space and see that their own 'stuff' will work within the space. My goal is to suggest how the space may be used, and possibly suggest a demographic or lifestyle. Ray Tracing still has some benefits. I'm just glad that PBR is in CA X10, and that it's good enough for my work.
  13. Stager, How about posting a RT for us to see? We''d like to help! (And, as Mick suggested, give us info in your signature on the version of CA, and equipment that you are running on.)
  14. I have 4-5 Glass Materials to which I have added a green tint, progressing in depth of color. I do this so that glass shelves may be seen through cabinet door glass. It's also useful for showers and shower doors. Depending on the use, you may want to give it an emissivity of 1 to brighten things up. In the future, I hope to futz a bit less with materials using PBR, but I love it! For my use, it saves me a good bit of time (over RT) because I can still edit an object if I see something not quite right.
  15. Mark, Thanks for putting on the meeting. I will be 'digesting" the information and looking at the Templates & Spreadsheets closely. If I could conquer Cabinet pricing using CA without also using 2020 I'd become an independent rep for a dealer. Currently, I work for the big orange box. I love consulting with their customers and showing how their space may be reconfigured, repurposed, or simply updated to reflect how we live in our homes today. Watching customers see their thoughts come to life with PBR is a buzz. Loading (redrawing) the design in 2020 is a buzz-kill! It's easy to verify that I am the designer with the highest sales/hour goal in the HD Region although I've only been with the company for 3 years. I'd leave in a heartbeat to be more productive (no time spent on 2020). CA gives me the JuJu.
  16. Mark, I know that you have invested hundreds of hours over the last 5 years working out a way to price (estimate) quickly using CA, not to mention all the great suggestions that you made and Chief incorporated into the Cabinets components. And, I can tell that this is causing you to invest more of your time to help the CA community. I truly, truly, appreciate to opportunity to learn from you, ~Cheryl
