No. 3D objects can't exist in the same space, even if on a different layer. Use SAVE AS method to make multiple options, and put them on the same layout.

Just download them and use the import function.

You need a good layer set, and send the view to layout. This one has color, but you can uncheck the box and turn that off. You are most likely sending a live view, and not a vector view.

You need to turn on the attic wall layer and make those connections. The attic walls are marked NO ROOM DEFINITION by default, so create some breaks as needed and change the walls so that you can get the room definition back.

That second line is located in the layer set under CROSS SECTION LINE...or something to that effect. You can simply turn it off.

While in Chief hit F1 on your keyboard and type stairs in the index search box. Scroll down the you will see STAIRS-WRAPPED. That will give you the info you need. EDIT. Nevermind..not the stairs. For the different levels, just add some room dividers and set the height as you see fit.

Just did a digital submission to the City of Indianapolis, no issues with the submitting part, the reviewer on the other hand!!! My commercial projects with the State of Indiana have been digital for many years, also no issues. My local office (small town) likes to have the plans emailed as well, no issues.

I let my layer set control the line weights. Very little "cleanup" once it's sent to the layout page. Corner boards can be an issue, but I live with it.

I started playing more and more with color in my layouts as more and more jurisdictions have gone to electronic submittals, and more and more builders are using electronics on the job site. The print well in B/W for a job site set as well.

Plot lines. Color fill. And a great layer set.

When you import make sure you set the FEET, I bet it imported as INCHES.

I use the CENTERLINE DIMENSION tool. Makes life easier. Once you hit the center of the column, it automatically changes to a centerline dim. Then just grab the handle and snap to the next post.

Not that wall fill. The wall hatch tool is what I am sure he is talking about. Very handy tool for remodels without needed a ton of different wall types.

Layer sets are the same, ANNO SETS are called default set now. Look for the DEFAULT SETS tool to place in your tool bar.

Select the view by holding down the SHIFT key and you should see the corner boxes go away and a single resize handle will appear. .

Is it a "landing" or the floor for the upstairs? A landing doesn't make sense, but if you are landing on the second floor, simply move the wall or rail that creates the stairwell.

Map the layers when you import it. Follow the prompts and you will see where you can place items on specific layers.

You can also use a kingpost truss and adjust that truss. Quick and easy.

You're right, I only use Chief. The way Solidworks or any other Autocrap do it is of no bearing to this software. If you want to adjust the angled wall(s), stop selecting the angled wall(s) and select the adjacent wall(s) moving around your plan counter-clockwise and when you get back to the beginning, everything will be as you want it.
