Another great vid by Glenn. It was great that he talked about revolving around absolute zero and it was great that he spoke of smoothing. Good stuff. Glenn, I think it would of been neat if you had taken it a step further and exploded into faces and then give a different material to the faces.... I think that is possible.

What is the call out? is that the circle with the number in it?

My experience mirrors Richard's approach. I have never spec'd ties and my engineer has never required them. However I do not think there is a downside to using the ties. I either have a ridge BEAM with no ties or ceiling joists OR I have a ridge BOARD with ceiling joists in the lower 1/3rd of attic area. The higher up from the top plate the ceiling joists are, the more nailing is required. I am not surprised by Larry's comment in regards to trying to use the collar ties as ceiling joist/truss config. I always strap rafters over ridge when using the ridge BEAM approach, rarely if ever do I use straps if I take the ridge BOARD ceiling joist approach. We are always learning, thank you Richard for your posts in regards to collar ties.

Thanks, but it still does not work for me the way it did... it works differently... see the pic, this is a camera overview and the "...CROP..." option is greyed out. If I do an interior shot... again it does not work like it worked before (camera stays in same location) I will need to learn a different method.

Yes please, ...... I think the answer we will get is when we zoom in and out, in previous releases, the camera stayed put but the focal angle changed, now the CAMERA MOVES, I Think i liked how it worked before. Anybody have any hints?

Alan, that space above the ceiling joists, especially where there is a wide span, hence a high ridge, is never used for storage......... it is usually used for an unpermitted second floor. Just goofing guys, it's early in the morning, a little humor to start the day.

Lew and Johnny, why do you turn it into an invisible wall? There are a few very specific cases where you might want to do that, butI have been working with mono slab footings since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and I think I have used the invisible tool 1% of the time.

JPC, connect the footing you drew to the outside perimeter, and they will behave. You are correct, the slab footings are simply walls with footing...

Oh, maybe you want to skip it, boy, a different approach.

I put those walls up one level. (Attic level). So they don't show in plan. Put them on their own layer as Eric suggests, and then post plan .
