  1. Been there done that. Be very careful that you are INPUTTING LINES and NOT POINTS. Take a closer look at drop down menu and you will understand.
  2. I wonder how you get the ply to show. I suppose the trusses were defined by a roof plane. Here is a posible alternate solution. Build the roof, build the trusses, lock the trusses, move the roof plane up 1-1/2", space the rafters at 2000' oc and then manually build rafters/nailers/purlins perpendicular to the trusses........ easy for a simple roof, much tougher for a compiicated roof. There must be a way to get the rafters/nailers/purlins to build auto. How about putting the roof base line at the same angle as the roof pitch but of course perpendicular. This way the purlins should build auto. So it seems to me we need (2) roof planes, 1st to define the rafters/trusses 2nd to define the purlin/nailers, this plane will give us the roof ply.
  3. Steve, I tested it out. By and large I think it was pretty quick. Big file, 34 mb. Editing the roof in 3d and deleting windows and doors in 3d was very slow. Editing in plan without 3d open was pretty quick. I did a vid so you could visually see how fast or slow you think it is on my machine. The vid will be on the youtube channel "ds hall" when done uploading.
  4. And if you want me to test it today, send it in the next 10 minutes because I am leaving office soon.
  5. Steve, I run an IMAC, I think it is fast. If I can run your plan on my computer and it is fast, then it might be your machine (it appears to be a fast IMAC). If you would like, you can send me your plan that you think is slow, let me try on my computer, if it is slow on my computer, then I think the plan is bad. If it is fast on my computer, maybe it is your computer that is slow.
  6. Curtis, did you go to your digital locker and redownload the program. We all went through this yesterday. You must redownload, (you will get another product key). Others simply went to their digital locker and copied the new product key and put that in the dialog box that states that your license has expired. I suspect you should be up and running in 30 minutes.
  7. That would make sense since the corrupt basin hole is in the countertop.
  8. If it really important, I suppose the best solution is a psolid in the window frame, don't like it, but not a better alternative I can think of.
  9. Problem with that is you will get a door opening indicator in elevation. Another problem (maybe), would be it would show up in door schedule. Probably better workarounds than calling a door.
  10. If this was directed at me, I do not understand the question. Whatever the case may be, I just tried to make it crash and it did not crash, I think I might attribute this to the advise I received from Kirk which was (validating the installed fonts, do not understand why I need to do this, but I took Kirk's advice, so far so good) ..... I will continue to monitor and let you know if I experience another crash while UNDOING SOMETHING IN LAYOUT. Hello Scott, I was able to reproduce this error when I opened the layout alone without opening the two attached plan files. However, if I open the two plan files first then open the layout I don't get the error anymore. I tested both of these scenarios on my Windows 8.1 machine and could not reproduce an error at all. I did notice that on the Windows side I get a missing fonts warning so there are some fonts that are unique to Mac being used in these files. The only thing I can suggest in light of this is to validate your installed fonts: - In a Finder window, go to '/Applications' and launch the Font Book. http://goo.gl/u6pbLn - Click 'Edit> Select All'. http://goo.gl/rNfJUJ - Click 'File> Validate Fonts'. http://goo.gl/FdA6ya Other than that, can you confirm if you are getting the error when both the plans are opened first then the layout? Kirk
  11. Dog gone it Joe, good question. I think you are asking how do we define the glass thickness, whether glass or glass block. I don't know, of course we can add a psolid, but that is more work.. great question..... Glenn?
  12. I got it too. Go to digital locker, redownload, I think you will find they have now given you a new product code. Did not take too long, back up and running on mac, and I think I have it on pc now.
  13. No I did not. When I get a chance I think I will start from scratch for both plan and layout, good suggestion. I did send it in, and he suggested VERIFING my fonts. He gave me directions for doing that, I am monitoring situation to see if that fixed the crashing.
  14. Who the frick cares? It's not important...... as the Alaskan Son says, "it's a barometer", I think I was paraphrasing what michael said, seriously, if CA wants to use points to rate posts, let them do it and we should have fun with it, It's not important, what's important is that we as a community continue to strive to share ideas to make us as a whole that much better. Now, how much longer do we'd have to wait until the NFL starts spring training? Played golf with JC Today, he beat me again, so what 's new? Give me another 20 years, and I will clean his clock........ Of course he will be 137 years old by then, but who is counting?
  15. We need it buddy. It is suppose to rain from now until 12:00 noon (our golf game starts at 12:00) then no rain from noon until the evening (I can drive home without is raining), and then the rain will start again this evening and continue thru Sunday. If you guys ever want to travel and guarantee yourself good weather, ask me along, somehow I am always lucky.
  16. Glenn, was there an quick way to find the issue or did you just start selecting items until you found the problem.
  17. i disagree with Michael, I would not use cabinets for the half wall, I would either use a wall and change height manually by dragging down in elevation or I would use walls and make them railing walls…… the reason… they are framed wall with plates….. cut a section and you see the plates…. and if you ever use the material list, they should be there. But, back to the point about no base molding at half walls by cabinet….. if I am not mistaken, the walls should get auto base molding if the walls are defined as ROOM DEF WALLS vs. defined as NON ROOM DEF WALLS. So, if they are ROOM DEF WALLS, you should get the molding…….. I think…...
  18. And here is what I see…… well I would post a screen shot but I am on Mac at house which of course behaves differently than mac at office so I have not figured out how to post a screen shot on the home mac….. take my word for it, don't see what you see, Glenn's post looks normal. Something weird going on with your computer.
  19. They all look the same on my monitor.
  20. I thought this was a great answer, have not tried it yet, but it makes sense. I think what Jintu is saying is if you emend these settings, the floor will not reflect. I did a vid on RT's, and in the vid I kind of liked the reflection, somehow I thought it added something……. you know, a little artistic license. Did the OP try Jintus's suggestion?
  21. Hey Bill, are watching it? Great show. I have moved onto "Game of Thrones"…… not as good….. but when I am riding the bike at the gym it gives me something to do. BTW, Lynn is reading the Harry Truman biography……. she is beginning to think he was the best President of all time.
  22. That's what it is Joe, I get more points than you here and I get a lot more points than you on the golf course. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
  23. I think it is on layer CAD, KITCHEN BATH, try turning that layer off and see if that works for you.;
  24. By the way, just to the left of the reply count is a hidden button that let's you preview a thread and it will list the first and last post to a particular thread. I would still like to see the last post listed at the top.
