Another Pet Peeve, open dvx, auto highlight something
dshall replied to dshall's topic in General Q & A
lol, hey, if you were a golfer you would understand. -
Pet Peeve #1: We went thru BETA, and I could almost swear if I opened a dvx for door or a window, the width would auto highlight. I loved this. If I open a window or a door dvx, 95% of time I am changing the width, the auto highlight saves a step, please rectify this. Pet Peeve #2: I open up text block, the text should be auto highlighted. If I open a text block, it is probably because I am going to change the text, lets auto highlight the text so I can start typing, a no brainer. But I will say, I know for a fact that sometimes when I select a text block and open dvx, the text is auto highlighted. Why is it that sometimes it is auto highlighted and other times I have to highlight the text myself. Pet Peeve #3: If they say the greens are running at a 10 on the stamp meter, why are they really running like an 8. Golf is hard enough without the greens keeper lying to us about the speed of the greens. Played golf yesterday, I had a good day, JC wasn't there, but I think I have to play golf with him next Thursday, maybe I will come down with the flu, I can only hope.

inserting two lavatories in a custom triple face vanity

I think you were on the right track Dennis, but I don't like turning cabinets into symbols. I like to keep them "live". But no matter, it appears there are multiple solutions to the OP's question. -

Suppose you want two sinks in one cabinet, i.e. one false panel? Build 72" long cabinet, put in sink, move sink to the left, copy cabinet in place, select second sink and move to the right. The problem is you now have a countertop penetrating one of the sinks, so select one of the cabinets, give it a custom countertop and then delete that countertop, so now you are left with two cabinets superimposed on each other, only one COUNTERTOP, and two sinks. Great question rolowe, thanks to KBird for the solution. -
Here is the link...... ww.youtube.com/watch?v=yT2-fDKUW2A ....... so copy this and put one more "w" in the front and you should get there, this is so weird. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT2-fDKUW2A

Here is a pic of the link I am trying to post, but every time I copy the link and paste into CT I get the video itself and I am the only person that can see it. Or go to youtube and type in COLORED FRAMING, you will find the new vid. I am telling you, my computers take on a life of there own.
-
This is what I see. And I can click on the video and it will play straight from CT.

Dog gone you KBird. That's exactly what I want. Nice job. I did not think about moving the sink so it straddled two base cabinets..... too too easy. -
Larry, do you see post 10 ? I tried to paste the link of the youtube video and I pasted the vid itself. I swear, I can never keep up to the ever changing computer behaviors. I always pasted the link to the vid and now i am pasting the vid. Did I spell paste with an ing on the end correctly?

I am not sure what you mean by nothing shows. I played the vid straight from post 7. Anyway, I think this is the link to the LATEST colored framing vid, I think this one is better. This one is on YouTube.
-
Hey, that was cool, I copied the vid straight into the thread.
-
I was actually able to find it with a quick search.

Yes, last time I checked CA does not use SLI.

Hmmmm, I assume the OOB setting is unchecked, if that is the case..... yeah..... now that you mention this, I have not noticed this frustration, thanks. If you ask me, it should always be unchecked, not sure why anybody would want this checked, I will monitor now that I know this.

In this pic, the sill and stud blocking are same color, rafters are another, if I had trusses I believe they may be another color, I have different colors for new and exiting studs, ceiling joists are another color and floor joists are another, I think that is 7 different colors, I think I outlined it all in the video. I am showing existing studs in this pic, if I had new walls, they would be another color.
-
Yeah, I'm listening, the video showed you how to do it. I saw someone else do this about 6 years ago, it's a great way to help understand the framing overview. I changed the materials in the BUILD FRAMING>MATERIALS DBX

Thanks Doug, never messed with it before, OOB is 4, no complaints on the OOB, I just bumped it up to 6 to see if I like it better. Does any body know what the BUMPING/PUSHING FOR TYPE I MOVEMENT is about? I just noticed this, I believe this is new, anybody know?

I thought it was only me, I too have problems at times posting comments..... starting to become a true waste of time.....

Hi DG, yes, now I understand, sounds like a lot of work since i believe you will not only have a sink to deal with but also the hole for the sink. So if you wanted to move it, would would need not only the hole but the sink. However the method that I eventually came to grips with was not much better. Your method may be better..... but maybe not, won't you have one of the lower cabinets going through the sink.... you don't show the sink in place..... I think you will find that a cabinet will penetrate the sink...... -

I think OLDCKD has the answer, I am waiting for her solution. -

Of course, that is the easy way, but suppose the center of the sinks are aligned with the space between the doors and the drawers, something I see all the time in as built conditions. -
I hear you, not sure if I like it better or not either. I think a lot of users liked the tab idea..... I will adapt to the majority.
-
I am sure you are correct Mike, I don't mess with it because then the handles would be TOO BIG. I just zoom in, I suppose it could be made more user friendly.

Actually I have no idea what I am talking about either, maybe you can show us how you would do what the OP wants, maybe post a simple plan so we can study it, thanks. I suppose I should of said double vanities in a triple face single cabinet...... we all know what the OP wants.... how would you do it? -
No you don't have to minimize, simply double click on title bar of plan you want to be full screen, but I am sure you know that..... I am sure I am missing what your true intention is....... bottom line, what ever you want to do, I do not have a need for it..... not yet anyway......
