  1. My take on being a Beta Tester: Advantages: - I get the new version sooner.... once I get in the swing of it, I hate the previous version - I can influence the direction the developers are going.... - I will have to go thru the growing pains eventually, so the sooner I get through it the better Disadvantages: - The frustration of the bugs..... believe me I have felt like lobbing some 66 mm water balloons in the direction of Idaho more than once - Reading Joe Carricks requests, but I know he is a users best friend, he has contributed a lot in the improvement of the program - having to spend the time to log the bugs.... but Brian Beck does a great job in letting me know whether my bug report is legit of if it is my issue, much appreciated - in regards to the bugs, none has been so bad that I cannot use the program, I think this is due to James who is in charge of quality control, he is doing a great job (I think it is James) Bottom line, the more people who can help out with the BETA testing, the better for the future of the program and the better for the users, imagine if nobody did any BETA TESTING, it would be a disaster for us users down the line. So spending time with BETA testing is my way of helping out all of you users and somewhere down the road I think you guys will help me out with your knowledge and experiences. One final note, I have been using this program since 2005, and this is probably the best release yet...... maybe with the exception of X3 for my own reasons...... you guys will love the new stuff Idaho has come up with.
  2. Got it, good demonstration. So what is the solution? If you take a picture from with in a room, the lights in that room are used first... I think..... so if you have less than 8 lights in a room, all of those lights are turned on for a particular shot take in that room....... the other 64 lights in the other rooms are not used. I typically have a couple of user provided lights in each room to get enough light for my render...... please correct me if I am wrong.
  3. I do not think this is relevant since he is looking at a render and not a ray trace
  4. Yes, thank you, I changed the depth of shelves and not depth of cabinets.
  5. Add some lights to your room, this should change the look to reflect what you are after.
  6. I disagree Dermot. Attached is a picture of OOB upper cabs. The 3 upper cabs are exactly the same. Note the middle upper cabinet that shows some of the shelves popping thru. It look like the further away from the camera the cabinets are, the more likely the problem will arise. Now note the bottom cabinet. Same cabinet, should look like the upper cabinets with shelves popping thru, but I opened dbx and changed the depth of cabinets to 9" deep (not the default death of 11-1/4") and all is okay. I am sure your solution of changing the default doors from inset to paneled will work without changing the depth of the shelves.
  7. Bill, I agree with you, something is not behaving correctly or as I would of expected it to behave. Please send in a report.
  8. I am simply echoing what Mon Cherie and the rest have said.... fewer cad lines the better.
  9. Move your elevation region UNDER THE WALL BY ABOUT 3 inches, that should take care of irregularities.
  10. Good stuff P., but it would be nice if you started from the beginning to show how you set up the tool in your tool bar and how you reduced the size of the plant. I understand that you did this months ago and you have forgotten how to do it... this is something I face all the time when doing vids, but it would be helpful to those who do not know how to do it and I always take it as a challenge to go back and figure out how I did it initially.
  11. BTW, I understand this is not what you want, the point is I do not think you are doing anything wrong, but it must be something within CA that has some restrictions on the height at end of the truss.
  12. I cannot explain why, but if you open your plan and DROP THE ROOF PLANES down 12", you should be able to get your attic truss.
  13. Elevation lines do not need to be broken. If you use an elevation region, that elevation region will override the elevation lines.... much quicker
  14. Who cares. It looks great right now. Nice job Greg.
  15. I wonder if X8 will fix this for you.
  16. I hate to be your English teacher, but I think you meant "you're" I think you and Perry had the same English teacher.... or you are both using DRAGON with auto spell. I am just buying your ba**s.
  17. Pretty nice Justin, you forgot to mention you are also using a cross section slider
  18. Because you did not click your heels together 3 times and say 11 hail Mary's.
  19. Come on Alan, the 3rd monitor is for Judge Judy......
  20. You should always post plan to get a quicker ACCURATE answer, but I would bet if you opened the cabinet and CHANGED THE DEPTH OF THE SHELVES, you will no longer have the problem. Probably a change in depth of less than 1/2" will fix it for you.
  21. Incorrect...... it is possible...... the ceiling plane is flat .... you are not following the issue.....
  22. I do not think there is a better solution other that what Perry suggested which is to live with it but turn off rafters for 3d views. I played with predefining the birds mouth... a no go..... I tried using a thicker wall to get the auto birds mouth, lock roof framing, change thicker wall to thinner wall... another no go.... I have no solution, I played with this a long time ago and I could not reach a solution. Glenn, where fore art thou?
