  1. Yes for your situation it likely can be accomplished but there are many steps involved. I will send you a PM with some of the details when I get back to the office.
  2. To do what you are asking to do, you would need to define a single layer brick attic wall and place it there. However at some point you will need to decide where the water is going to go and what to do with it once it gets into the dining room. Sorry but you are asking for trouble without rethinking the design. Possibly a few modifications and a roof cricket would do it but not sure where to start right now. Not really sure what is existing and what is new.
  3. That may be the remnants of the first floor ceiling. It may need to be turned off and the layers deleted. You can always post the plan file and one of the experts will take a look if that does not work.
  4. Turn off "Flat Ceiling Over This Room" and delete the Ceiling Finish: Layers. Then paint your roof rafters and sheathing.
  5. It seems that U+008B is used for font positioning but can also control an entire line of text if necessary but I can't be sure since I can't seem to get it to work. Ruby seems to recognize it as UTF-8 but does not know what to do with it. It should be as simple as = "\u{0A 8B}" or at least I would like it to be but you may be right. It is just frustrating to do all the research and not get anywhere with it. If there was a users manual that said "Don't Bother" that would sure save a lot of time.
  6. It is a rich text option and it also seems to be hard coded into the software but that is C++ is it not ?
  7. No Sorry it does not seem to be.
  8. I replaced your funny quotes on one of my previous attempts. Any suggestions on how to work it into my coding ?
  9. Not quite sure how the formatting should be but I get a different error pasting that in. Evaluation Error: Ruby SyntaxError: (eval):100: invalid Unicode escape ="\n" + "\u{  }" Rather than : Evaluation Error: Ruby Encoding::CompatibilityError: incompatible character encodings: UTF-8 and ASCII-8BIT ="\n" + "\u{8B}" If I put it straight in like this ="\n" + "  " there is no error but then no change in the result either. This works fine but gives two lines ="\n" + "\u{0A}"
  10. The objective was to have a 1 1/2 line space separation in a ruby generated object label. It seemed that looking up the UTF8 Control Codepoints that it would be simple to combine \n with U+008B to get 1 1/2 spaces but apparently not ?
  11. Yes that all makes sense or at least leaves me with all the same questions. Tried all the formatting methods I could look up including ASCII. All of the C0 and C1 Control Characters have Ruby values, the common ones with the "\" as you posted and all the rest use \u{xx} formatting. Just as an example U+000A or \n is quite commonly use in Chief ruby macro's but to my knowledge does not exist in Arial or Chief Blueprint, or even Arial Unicode MS. So what makes it work as it seems to flawlessly ?
  12. I don't think I have that one... Arial, Arial Black, and Arial Narrow. According to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode_font Arial Unicode MS does not carry C0 or C1 Control Characters.
  13. I am not so sure that UTF8 in ruby is dependent on what font is default in Chief. I have Arial and Chief Blueprint set as defaults and was doing some testing with the CO Control Codepoints (U+0000 - U+001F) and they all worked even though they are not all supported by Arial or Chief Blueprint. Possibly I had a font installed in windows that did that I was not aware of and it was being referenced. So I installed Unifont that seems to have pretty extensive support but still could not access any of the C1 Control Codepoints ( U+0080 - U+009F ) that I wanted to use. Maybe cut and paste functions differently since I have used some pretty funky emoji that I don't think exist anywhere else on my system. It would just be great to know what we should be able to expect to function and what does not.
  14. Is there anything official on the topic Dermot ? I was wondering what was supported and what is not ? And yes in X12 or 13. Ruby 2.4.0 claims to fully support UTF8 but there seem to be certain ranges that are not accessible.
  15. It seems to be a bit of a mystery exactly what is supported and how. I have had some success with copying and pasting emoji's and such but for font characters you seem to be able to open your windows "Character Map" and copy and paste from there. Was there something specific you were after that we could test ?
  16. I think you need to go with Glenn's method. It can be done in plan view or your wall detail where you will need to do the blocking. Chief will build a wall like this auto but not what you need.
  17. This needs a little more refinement but something close to this should work.
  18. Web and flanges will be separate but can then be merged if necessary. All drawn in elevation just like your screen shot. Or are they tapered the other way ?
  19. If you want them represented in 3D they will need to be built with p-solids. You really only need to build one though as you can convert to as symbol or block and copy. It looks like you already have all the cad snaps you need so it should be fairly straight forward drawn in elevation view.
  20. Sure, I do a lot of construction with natural materials and finishes. Wood grain is something that is not accurately presented with existing chief materials. I thought the builder would be a great way to tweak the image and create maps. Good wood grain materials are not necessarily seamless on four sides but are more lineal and up to 16' in length with random grain and knots and ideally with matching grain at each end so that it can be tiled rather than stretched if necessary. It would be great to have a library of North American Species.
  21. You could move your camera so that it cuts through the line of posts like is happening with your beams now or just create a cad detail from view and cut paste hold position the necessary components or all, back into your section view and dimension to the cad lines
  22. Hello @CADustin or anyone else that may know the answer off hand. Giving the Substance Player Wood Builder a test run today and importing a few of my own images. It would appear that even with the Parameters set to Random Seed: 0 and Cut: Uncut my images are getting cut into strips. Initially I though it was because they were not seamless as I think was noted in a previous comment but it does not seem to matter. After Random Seeding about 50 times I was able to line up 5 out of 6 strips but never all of them. Is this a bug ? Thanks, Chopsaw

    roof plan

If you are just starting out it would likely be best to use an X12 template plan which has those as Ryan said. Look here to be sure you are using the latest version: C:\Program Files\Chief Architect\Chief Architect Premier X12 (64 bit)\Templates
  24. That sounds a bit confusing, but if you have deleted everything in the file what is the harm in saving the plan and quitting ? It seems something is corrupted so just do that and delete the file skeleton in windows explorer and start over with a new template file. If it happens again check with tech support if you don't get a good answer here.
  25. Hi Rob, Next time give stepping stones a try. They are smarter than sidewalks.
