  1. Yup. Someone else suggested a light grey that you can see on the scree but will not print. The problem with that is that now we are going digital it will usually show up in a PDF if you can see it on the screen. Just can't win I suppose That is where some of the suggestions that get ignored would come in really handy like the no print layer option I know has been asked for that would make so many other broken things in the software somewhat manageable.
  2. Ok you might as well take advantage of a little glitch if figured out a while back. Select an item so that it highlights in ALDO Go to you last listed layerset. Hover mouse on layerset drop down. Use up arrow key to scroll through all your layersets. Or just randomly unintentionally scroll through your layersets by depressing your middle mouse button while on the dropdown menue. If you sometime wonder how you got to your 3D Framing Set while in plan view that could be it.
  3. I think the original question must have been how to see which layersets have a particular layer turned on? Not sure there is a fast way to do that.
  4. If you want to use the %automatic_label% it needs to be referenced and if you are going to do that you might as well use the %box_scale% as well.
  5. Mick I think I often have the same problem when there are multiple layout boxes on the same layout page.
  6. I think Lumion's Clip Plane Tool is what you are after.

    roof plan

Sure go to your All Off Layer Set and turn on the layers you need and make a copy of it an call it Roof Plan Set. Or I think there is a Default Roof Plan Layer Set that you could try or modify. Hope that helps. Welcome to the forum.
  8. There is still an issue with the plan file you posted but there is a setting in Terrain Specifications > General > Building Pad > Subfloor Height Above Terrain. This may account for the discrepancy you are seeing.
  9. That sounded so good I needed to try it out. Unfortunately it does not work. The seam defaults to East but is not affected by the North arrow so it should really be referred to as Chief's 0° which is always to the right and happens to be default East.
  10. I think that is the only difference Mick. Just the rotation which is just a checkbox in the same DBX. I was looking for a default setting the other day and sure enough chief provides the default setting for one of the three items in the same family.
  11. Yes that feature still needs a lot of improvements. No harm in adding your input to the suggestion forum. I think that was discussed in the link I posted earlier but possibly not the basics. Right click on your User Library folder and select New > Image it works the same way as 2d plants. You could try applying your panoramic to the inside of a polyine solid cylinder as a material, which can be rotated to correct the orientation. This works fairly well and solves the dizzying model movement problem but I have not been able to do it without messing up the display of shadows. Always some drawback. If you could do a cylindrical billboard image I think that would work.
  12. This will hopefully help a bit.
  13. No sorry I must be doing something different.
  14. Lew that does not sound like your average root cellar. Are you sure you should be talking about it ? Did you forget the NDA you signed ? Have your best go at it and post the plane file with a few notes about how it should be and someone will take a look for you.
  15. @scottharris does a lot of them. Here are a couple more he did recently to compare.
  16. There is a cool new tool that I think we got with X11. Select your Terrain Perimeter and then on the Active toolbar there is a tool called "Make Terrain Hole(s) Around Buildings(s)" near the end of the list. This creates and editable polyline cutout that should work for you. Likely best to work in plan view with a split screen and a 3D overview open to see what is going on. Welcome to the forum. P.S. Images can be posted directly as .jpg or .png so downloading .pdf's is not necessary. Thanks.
  17. Options > Door Panels > Single Door Only
  18. Yes that can be done manually with a marker and leader line or custom macro's can be used. You may be able to get most of what you need in regards to a Schedule with a modified Room Finish Schedule or Note Schedule with macro's. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/26281-special-use-arrowswhered-they-go/?do=findComment&comment=211265
  19. Yes there have been a few discussed in the Chatroom recently. Be Careful.
  20. The other option I was thinking about would be to have the option of auto explode designated library cad blocks but that only solves some of the issues and may actually create more for some users.
  21. So what your sayin' is one more suggestion will put it over the top, right? You can always hope but it sometimes seems that no matter how broken something is the threshold is way too high. I suppose the inconsistency is that if you deliberately set the layer to not be default why would it save on the default layer ? If it is something you are not worried about of course it should go on the default layer. I suppose double blocking could be used if you definitely will always be using the item as a block and can remember to only unblock it once, but it just seems a bit too much like ACad to me.
  22. Pretty sure it has been suggested before but has not likely reached the request threshold to get fixed. Really handy if you are not exploding the cad block.
  23. Sure you just need some sort of a surface to paint. Wall Material Region, Back splash, Polyline Solid.
