  1. Not quite like that in any sort of an automated way but you could certainly do an edited cad detail from view or in layout there is a tool to edit layout lines but mostly for smaller touch ups.
  2. Or a 3D mouse but I think a walkthrough path if it is done well is better and also repeatable so you can document revisions which I find is key. Once you show a customer something in video you will get way more feedback than if you present a 2D B&W.
  3. Use a walkthrough path and set your default Full Camera to a low Incremental Move Distance and Rotate Angle. Use a reasonable speed and slow down in the corners. Have fun and don't fill your hard drive. Run a quick test recording or you will be at it all day.
  4. Yes Plan Defaults> Electrical> General Electrical>Outlet -110V is normally just a standard Duplex or you could make it decorator duplex.
  5. Did you add any symbols in that couple of hours ? Could be a corrupt symbol or a really high poly count symbol or item. Try to do a save as under a new file name maybe. Check an archived file from yesterday. If all else fails post you file here and someone will take a look. Also fill out your signature so we know what version of chief you are using and some of the statistics of the computer you are running on.
  6. Is this just for concept drawings? You could just print and use the fit to paper setting but your scale would not be anything standard. Some people have a 22" x 34" layout and print at 1/2 Scale Check Plot which just turns your 1/4" scale drawing to 1/8" Maybe you could cheat and use 12 x 18 paper ? Otherwise Yes you need to redo your title block.
  7. Yes that is the idea as I understand it, vector PDF will define a line by it's beginning and end points while a "raster" PDF defines a line by a series of pixels which can degrade the quality significantly especially on angled lines. vector raster
  8. As far as I know the "Chief Architect Save As PDF" driver is one of the best available and converts any content that can possibly be Vector into a Vector PDF. I am not totally clear about the origin of your files but if they can be imported into chief then there should not be any issue creating vector PDF's from them. That is if it is a DWG import not a PDF import.
  9. It should work with two terrain features. If your drive is the default 0 height 0 thickness make the grass circle 2 high and 2 thick. It is just an elevation problem.
  10. How about "Retain Wall Framing" for the attic wall before proceeding. ??
  11. Doing fine. Are you busy this evening ?
  12. Kyle I think you need to buy a new computer for that to work. Pretty sure Walls (Interior)/Soffits and Soffit/Eave are two completely different things. Soffit/Eave would be a Roof Default Material not a General Default Material.
  13. One way or another you need to lower the roof plane. Trusses will build between the ceiling plane and the roof plane. Possibly your default is for 2x10 or 2x12 rafters so that may be your framing thickness. Difficult to know for sure without the plan file.
  14. Yup that is what I did as well but I did not like that the wall definition was not correct and the 10' dimension would not snap to the outer layer but it is close to creating the correct illusion I suppose. Way more work than it should be and still not correct for another simple problem in Chief.
  15. Yes but not sure it is possible for a railing wall and have it display properly. Let us know if you find the right combination of settings to defeat chief's automatic settings.
  16. There is a brand new update just out. It could possibly include a fix. What version of the software are you running ?
  17. Not a lot of information to go on here, but try turning on your "Stairs & Ramps" layer. If not post your plan file and let us know what version of the software you are using.
  18. Any observations as to the type of dimension line used and what it is snapped to ? The ones I had that were changing to the default display style seem to be also converted to point to point measurements.
  19. You can get this behavior by creating your CAD Detail From View from layout if you want. Sorry that is not quite what I was after. Text seems to remain as text. Dimensions strings are however converted to cad lines and text.
  20. Take a look at this and see what you think. A little more difficult to work with but maybe the level of precision you are after. You could even add the light source to it and save it in your library for the next job if you like. Ceiling design Chopped.plan
  21. Humm.... That sounds interesting. Will have to give it a try. Thanks.
  22. There are some neat things that could be done in Chief if that was an option as well as text.
  23. Likely the best way to have the control you will need on this is to create a symbol with stretch planes. Unless it it just two pcs. as in your test plan.
