  1. Alan, Anything in the object dbx that doesn't have the little wrench next to it won't be updated when the defaults change.
  2. %interior.casing.name% or just use the "Casing, Interior" column - but you have to assign the casing from the Library. If it's the Default Casing you won't get the name.
  3. Stretch Planes are really pretty simple once you understand their rules. No Stretch Plane -> Symbol stretches and/or shrinks uniformly One or more Stretch Planes -> Symbol stretches and/or shrinks only at those locations Two Stretch Planes with Between those 2 locations -> Symbol stretches and shrinks only between those One Stretch Plane outside of the Bounding Box -> No change at all, Symbol is a fixed size You can have Stretch Planes in each direction. BTW, for most post configurations I would use the "Post" or "Post on Footing" tool - at least as a starting point. I seldom use Symbols for things that Chief can create automatically because those things have more "intelligence" than simple geometry.
  4. FWIW, you can insert macros inside a TB or a RTB and place it inside a room. It will display the data for that room. You can even place the TB or RTB outside of the room and add an arrow connected to the room. Of course the macros have to be room appropriate.
  5. Take a look at each of the following: Schedule Layer - for color, line weights, font, etc Select Schedule and use edit handles to resize and/or move columns Open the dbx and explore settings there.
  6. FWIW, I have many blank pages in my Layout Templates. I just makes it easier to add content anyplace I need it. In addition, pages can easily be moved up and down to facilitate ordering the ConDocs. Some jurisdictions actually have strict rules about formatting the page labels. Prefixes and in some cases sub-numbered pages are not uncommon - especially for commercial projects.
  7. That can get to be very dangerous as detail callouts can very easily be wrong when pages are added or deleted.
  8. Hi Alan, In the project browser add a blank page before the sheet you want to be A-16. Make the Label A-# duplicate that page 14 times so that you have 15 blank sheets in the project browser The blank sheets won't print The downside is that they will show in the project browser but you can mark them to not show in the sheet index.
  9. It depends on how much you have to transfer. If you have a lot of data and programs it could take up to 2-3 hours. But you can be sure everything is on the new computer when it's done.
  10. Yes, but make sure your computer is clean (no malware, etc) and has all the updated drivers. There is also an advanced mode that allows selection of exactly what you want transferred. Since I had most of my files on Dropbox - I really only needed to transfer my programs & settings.
  11. 1. You can't call yourself an Architect unless you are licensed as such. 2. If you don't fully understand the structure you are proposing then you should seek the services of a Structural Engineer.
  12. Take a look at the Room Specification dbx
  13. That's close. You should be able to edit the walls in elevation views. The other option is to use a PSolid
  14. Looks like a luxury edition of what you might find in Costa Rica
  15. Here are 4 macros that I've customized to use in lieu of %object_properties%. I think my versions are much better because: They provide sorted output They work for both owner and referenced objects There's a version that works for Text Objects only There are condensed versions (without defaults) Object_Properties.json14.14 kB · 5 downloads
  16. Hi Rob, It can be done using custom macros. With X13 you can save TB's and RTB's to the user library with macros and when placed in your plans the data will automatically be displayed. Note that there will need to be at least one macro included in the default room labels to provide for setting global variables (room areas)
  17. The size is adjustable in both directions. The size is only limited to smallest in both directions. I don't think there's a limit to the maximum size - other than available screen area. AFAIK, the above is true for all dialogs. There's a minimum size that any of the tabs require without anything being chopped or needing a slider. IOW, if there's a tab that needs the space to display everything then that is the minimum size for the dialog.
  18. I generally use Nuance PDF and don't have any problems. Sometimes I use Chief Architect print to PDF In any event, I set the resolution to 300 dpi vs 600 dpi which drastically reduces the file size. I don't see much differences in the PDF clarity.
  19. I'm afraid I'd be using a couple of online translation programs more often than not. french to english english to french I'm afraid David's advise is best. You'll get more responses and assistance in English.
  20. Translation - if I remember my high school french: Hi Gilles, I'm in Ordford! (Quebec I assume) I work with X12. I'd be pleased to share with you in the future. Danielle
  21. Standard term for that in these forums is dbx
  22. Sorry about that. Library>Import Library> Browse to downloaded file.
  23. There are 2 ways to handle this after downloading: Open your downloads folder and select "Open With" > Chief Architect X12 In Chief Architect X12 select "File>Import Library" browse to the downloaded file.
