  1. If there are still "Wall Details" in the plan, they will "Auto Re-Frame" even if that's turned off. Those Wall Details over-ride that setting; which - if you think about it - is quite logical.
  2. I believe it may have to do with "Auto Rebuild Framing". If you had that set to "ON", it may be active even if you subsequently toggle it to "OFF". When a Door or Window is deleted, the framing rebuild can take time. "Undo" has to then rebuild it again. It seems that "Wall Framing" is always rebuilt unless you delete all the "Wall Details". I'm not sure you can do that unless you've deleted all the framing.
  3. Do you have the Layout Open? If so, are you using "Auto Update" for Sections and Elevations? This can definitely cause the problem you are experiencing.
  4. You use the Layer Sets in the Plan. Then when you send a view to Layout it will use the current Layer Set. As others have stated, setting up Annosets and Layer Sets is key. It takes a little time, but once you have it done.......
  5. Yes, I have done it. In fact, just for fun, I created one like you asked about and added it to a Ridge Beam.
  6. That's easy. You just need to use a "Rafter Tail" with that shape. Chief doesn't have one like that in the Library, but you can make your own. Just be aware that you can only use Rafter Tails on one end of the Beam or Rafter.
  7. If I understand what you are asking for ----- Create a Molding Profile of the Shape In Cross Section, create a 3D Molding Polyline for the "Bent Path" and assign the Molding Profile Copy that at the appropriate spacing. But if that's not what you need......
  8. Tools > Layout > Referenced Plan Files Select the old plan file and browse to the new Plan File. Another option is to select each Layout Box and use the "Relink File" tool on the Edit Tool Bar. The difference is that it does just a single Layout Box
  9. The OP might also try the E02 door.
  10. Chief doesn't allow lites on all door types. I think it only applies to "Glass Doors" but you can set the bottom "Panel Frame" to be different than the side and top frames so you get the appearance you want. The other option would be to create a Library Door with the Lites you want.
  11. You can change them after creation. There is no separate default material for solids.
  12. David, Currently that doesn't exist. You could send that in to CA as a suggestion if you think it is worth having.
  13. Check to see what Layer the Text is on. Just after exploding the Block, click the "Object Layers" icon and make sure the text layer is displayed.
  14. Select the Room, then create the Material List. Save that as the material list for that room. You will need to do this for each room.
  15. Can you tell us what Version of the software you have and where you purchased it? Without that information it's really hard for us to help.
  16. You also need to eliminate the "size" column. Chief will then group those doors as "Similar".
  17. Technical Illustration is probably my favorite for perspective views sent to layout. Sometimes I'll use a Water Color with lines on top for the Cover Sheet. I also include a perspective (Vector or Tech Illustration) for some rooms along with the Interior Elevations - just to provide a better understanding of what the rooms will look like.
  18. Graham's solution is cool. I gave him a point for it.
  19. Use Wall Material Regions to put different materials on parts of walls. This gives you a lot more freedom without messing up the model.
  20. In that case, you will just have to use the transform/replicate, rotate & trim/extend tools to get those the way you want them. If a rafter is totally within a roof plane it should align with that roof plane.
  21. Scott, How is the Flare Tool not working for you? Are you using the edit handles after selecting that tool to adjust the ends of the stair?
  22. Alan, In Layout, Leaders are only relative to the Layout Box, not the underlying image. Leader lines only connect to objects in the Plan View and Section/Elevation Views. Since we can't add text to any other 3D Views, the only option is to create a CAD Detail from the 3D View and annotate that. But it's not dynamic anymore.
  23. Robert's answer will get the sheet size you want, but the borders are a different issue. I have several sets of borders in the same layout. Each set of borders is on specific layer(s) - naturally on page 0. I have a layer set for each sheet size that displays just that border set. It's fairly easy to create a new set of borders on page 0 Marque select everything on page 0 Copy/Paste Hold Position Edit the Layer to "Arch E - 30x42" Turn off the display of all other layers Set the Sheet Size as Robert suggested Edit the Border to fit the new sheet size. You can create borders and layer sets for all the different sheet sizes and quickly switch between them simply by changing the Layer Set and Sheet Size. You may need to "Center the Sheet" but otherwise it's pretty simple. ps: I have each sheet size border aligned to the same point at the top-right corner. This keeps my title block that is along the right side of my layouts in the same positions.
  24. Check the 3d Warehouse. There are lots of Tractors there.
  25. Sandy, You will probably get better response if you post your questions in the Q&A Forum rather than Tips & Techniques. Most gurus on these forums try to post in the appropriate location. That said, Chieftalk isn't really designed to be a "fix my problem" resource. Most of us will try to help, but asking for us to just fix your model isn't cool.
