  1. Edit>Default Settings>Schedules>Custom Object Fields
  2. Either use Delete Surface tool as Chop suggested or move the camera, change the label setting, and then move the camera back.
  3. Switch to your MEP set, Check "Modify All Layer Sets", turn the layer on, uncheck "Modify All Layer Sets", and turn the layer off.
  4. Here's my guess...That top wall is out of alignment and the wall below is building through to the roof above.
  5. I would probably consider Just making 2 symbols and just moving the symbols around. After they leave you can mess with moving the terrain in the actual plan file (if necessary).
  6. Funny, I thought that the tab entry method was acting up!! I have always made a habit of double checking the angle when I hit tab to move things though, and so I never fully realized what was going on. You are absolutely correct though Johnny, there is a problem in X10. It works fine in some circumstances, such as when drawing a brand new wall/line (not using the diamond shaped edit handle) or while in continuous draw mode, but it does not work in many other circumstances (most notably when dragging off a new wall/line section when using the diamond edit handle or when moving the corner of a polyline based object)... Thanks for pointing this out. I have reported it.
  7. Ah, I see. You're not just trying to use a different wall type. You want to transfer all the various wall settings after the fact. Sorry, I don't have any good solutions off the top of my head and I'm bout to shut down for the night. Hopefully someone else has something that will work for you. If not, maybe I'll revisit this a bit later for you. I wouldn't hold my breath though. I really don't think there's any way to do this. Perhaps a Replace From Library option or Object Eyedropper functionality for walls would be some good suggestions.
  8. I could be misunderstanding, but just draw a short section of wall using the wall type from the library and then delete it. This will add that wall type to the plan. Then you can simply select the wall type from the drop down.
  9. It would be more helpful if you were to attach a copy of the PDF that the planning department is asking to be corrected. Their request that the PDF be flattened suggests that either you or your client have added notes, signatures, layers, or other information after the initial "Chief Architect Print as PDF". The easiest way to fix that after the fact is simply open the PDF and print again using a PDF print driver. Microsoft Print To PDF would be as good as any.
  10. 4 options that come to mind... 1. FIRST activate the Roof Plane tool AND THEN control or shift select your roof planes using a marquis (draw a box around them). 2. Click the Edit All Roof Planes tool. 3. Temporarily lock all layers except your roof planes and then group select them. 4. Be more careful how you group select. You’ve selected more than just roof planes.
  11. I apologize, I may have given you bad information. I am away from my computer and I was going off of memory. I thought there was the option to include architectural blocks as electrical items but now I remember that there isn’t. My bad. I guess it’s only the second option that will work for you.
  12. Yes. There are at least two ways… 1. Block the object and set the block to be included in the electrical schedule. EDIT: Nevermind, this one doesn’t work for electrical objects. 2. Convert To Symbol and set the new symbol to be an electrical item.
  13. ...OR, if you want to simply edit the object(s) and stay in the schedule, you can click Open Row Object(s). This one is very well suited for keynotes.
  14. Try Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing>Ventilation>Registers
  15. By the way, based on my experience, I don't think there is any way the Auto Story Pole system is ever going to work completely right for more than about 3 people. Some people need 2 or more different groups of dimensions that reference entirely different elevation datums, some people need to reference finish grade (which can obviously vary around a single lot), some people need to reference sea level, some people need o reference a high water mark or flood plane, some people actually change their base marker from one floor to the next for certain items, some people want to measure to the bottom of header while others want to measure to the top of glass, etc. etc. I personally just wish we were given x and y locations as Ruby attributes for Markers (and other CAD based objects) so I could use macros to address some of these variable needs.
  16. I think the type of functionality we're discussing here in this thread is really most important to people who are building at or near sea level and close to the ocean. I still say its easy enough to manually drag off a new marker to get what Scott was originally after. The conversation and general requirements seemed to have morphed a bit though.
  17. That is the method Scott was using in the first post. The problem with that one (and what triggered this thread in the first place) was that he couldn't get the Grade Level Marker to automatically generate up higher.
  18. Either turn ON the “Walls, Main Layer Only” layer, or turn OFF the “Walls, Layers” layer. One of those 2 should give you what I think you’re after.
  19. See if this helps you out Richard... It was made pretty specifically in response to an issue in another thread, but hang in there, I think it's worth a watch anyway. Here's that other thread though for what it's worth...
  20. Try unchecking “Make Ceilings Black In Ray Trace Views”. If that doesn’t work try giving the fine people here a little more to work with...a Backup File, a plan file, a screenshot...ANYTHING.
  21. That requirement has been in there for quite some time now and you are not misunderstanding it. It's really pretty ridiculous for a lot of situations IMO and needs some serious reworking. I don't have a copy of the code commentary but it was explained to me by an inspector years ago that the requirement was there due to wind loads and after doing a little more research, I came to the conclusion that he was absolutely correct. The idea was that we needed to replace all the studs being eliminated by the header span with half of the studs going to one side, and half to the other. Some jurisdictions have specifically amended the code so that it only applies to walls over a certain height, and the ICC itself is addressing it to a certain extent with some notable changes in the 2018 IRC. They have basically eliminated the requirement for regions with wind-speeds under 115 mph. I'm not sure whether or not they made any changes with regard to wall height though.
  22. Scott, To get your elevation markers to show up over on the right, just open that dimension string, click on the Extensions/Markers tab, and check Draw Elevation Marker for each of the desired Extensions.
  23. Same as you do on Tuesdays...unless it Wednesday...in which case you have to do it like we do on Thursdays. Just don’t expect the same results twice.
  24. I'm about to step out of the office and don’t have time to give you a good answer, but if you want a good answer, it might help if you were to clarify the following: Are you wanting to modify the model, the material list, or both? Exactly WHY do you need to do so? How do you intend to use the information? There are several possible solutions depending on your answers to the above, but the easiest is probably simply to utilize some of the Material List and Structural Member Reporting capabilities. You can also modify the 3D model itself or use schedules though. It really depends on what you're after and how you intend to use the information.
  25. There are a few methods that work, but I think the easiest is to simply overlap 2 views in layout...use different layer sets for each view. Set one of the views to "Show Color" and the other to not "Show Color".
