  1. I apparently am missing something...so what's new? Did she upload the layout file for you guys to look at? I am logged in and I never saw it in any post; just curious as this has happened to me before. I switched from IE11 to Chrome 15 and this seems to happen sometimes.
  2. That never worked for me. I always sent "current screen" to layout and my leaders would still jump around if I placed notes in layout.
  3. No, No. I guess I wasn't very clear. I don't have auto update on. If I need to update I "one-click-it" and done.
  4. I am having similar issues with the "black screens" in camera views. I'm 95% sure mine is a graphics card issue. Mine worked fine up to X9. The improvements in X9 to the camera views are just too much for it. Looking for a better card now to upgrade to. If you would include your computer specs in your signature someone could give you some direction if they knew what your graphics card was.
  5. I always send plot lines or CAD details. I guess, like Larry, just because of old habits. I usually will open the cameras I am using and when I "think" I am done I close the camera; it always ask me if I want to update the layout view. That seems to work for me. I haven't even tried the live views option - not sure of the advantage if it is so slow you can't really use it in the real world. Nice concept though.
  6. I used to put most of my notes in the Layout but stopped just for this reason. I posted on the forum then about this issue and was advised to put all notes, if possible, in the model views. I changed to that method and don't have to deal with this frustration any more. Now they just move if I change font or size or move the associated object. Come to think of it, I use to be able to turn off auto-association in othercad years ago - I think. Will have to check with Chief manual to see if that is possible as I very seldom need that feature.
  7. Looks like CAD mask to me. Hey Ben, would you mind sharing your method? I, too, like the cleaner look for the elevations; just a preference thing.
  8. Man, am I glad I live in the South!
  9. I'm like Mark. I just assumed I was doing something wrong and that it maybe was supposed to work that way now.
  10. Thanks, Dermot. I "think" this may have been my issue. edit: And you are right; it is confusing, at least in the way I view annosets.
  11. I didn't update due to the issues some seem to have been having when the last upgrade came out. Too busy to deal with any more frustration at the moment.
  12. I am on X9, build 19.0.3.50x64, using Win 7 Pro and see this also. It is very frustrating when I go to add some text, for example, after modifying an anno set. Upon exiting it puts me in the Active Default anno set and I later find it has put my text on the wrong layer. My video card is weaker than yours but just can't upgrade it right now. It ran X8 fine but X9 really strains it.
  13. I posted a short time back about this; didn't get any responses. When I use an automatic floating dormer (same principle) my manually added corner boards do not "stick" very long. They will attach but will vanish after a short time. Never figured it out.
  14. Nice RT, jonboy. I also like the staging.
  15. Nice approach, Eric. Have to remember this method.
  16. I don't know your requirements for the 2nd floor but I think I would have added some attic space (or living, whichever) on the 2nd floor on the left side with a two story roof hip - similar to what you have on the right side. That would (should) break up those long span hip sections on the left and back. Just a suggestion. Nice house.
  17. This was my thought too, though the OP mentioned he worked with Softplan for eight years. I don't know the output quality of Softplan as I have never used it.
  18. Mike, just curious. Was the attached PDF done in Chief or Softplan? Nice presentation style. Nice name, BTW.
  19. Delete the multiple toilet lines and use the 2D CAD block that comes with the toilet (you will have to search for the correct one) and add it to the Detail from View. If you store it in your User Library it will be there when needed.
  20. I'll bet the framers will love doing that one!
  21. Are you using X9 Premier? If so, roof material is under the "structure" tab. However, the ridge caps are still under the materials tab. It would be helpful if you filled in your signature info with software and computer horsepower info to help users help you. edit: I reread your post and may have missed the question; sorry if that is the case.
  22. Mike, there are other posts on this subject; may have been in the older forum though. I was one who had this problem with the same plotter when I went to Win 7 Pro and Chief X5? I think. My desktop uses Win 7 Pro; it will not communicate with the plotter successfully. It sends the print job to the print cue but doesn't release it to the plotter. I am using the XP 64-bit driver Michael suggested. I connect with a USB to parallel adapter. My laptop uses Win 7 Home Edition; it works just fine with same driver and same cable. Long story short, I use the laptop as my print server connected to my in-house wifi and send the PDF layouts to it - problem solved until I get a newer plotter some day. BTW, I am now on a used 755 CM I recently purchased when my 750 died. It still works.
  23. Happened to me just the other day. Turned the auto dormer layer off and it would not disappear from the plan. Tried layer hider; same result. I ended up just moving it up to the attic level - it was on a 1st floor roof of a 2-story. We should not have to explode it first - why would I use an auto dormer if that was the case?
  24. Ouch! We've got to be more careful guys about assuming too much about a poster - especially a new one! Rob's (Denkham) example is a good reminder - play nice, at least until you know more.
