  1. OK, Joe. I would be really surprised if they were much different.
  2. I could not follow Joe's method exactly. I looked, and Joe's signature shows Win 10 Home. I run Win 10 Pro and there are additional steps to take - see screenshots.
  3. OK, thanks Glenn. I will send in the files with a report.
  4. I have struggled with this problem for some time. When I send views to Layout, I will sometimes have a difficult time "picking" a line to edit (see attached view). By hit-and-miss I am able to select it off to the left from where it shows in the view. I could never determine why or what causes it to happen until today. I have sent countless views back to layout just so I could edit them - sometimes! By chance, I discovered today, while working on a cabinet sheet of views, the problem started again. I re-sent a view, could edit the lines in place by picking them where they showed in the view. After some edits, I could not select the lines as before; they had to be selected to the left of shown. I did a mental backtrack of what I had done just before this occurred. The only thing I had done different between the functioning view and the non-functioning view was to move the view label. I like to move the labels close to the view they tag to prevent possible errors in labeling. Sure enough, if I moved the label I could no longer pick a line as normal. If I didn't move the label, I could pick the lines as normal. Would someone please try this on one of your layout sheets to see if this happens on your system? I don't think it would be a setting but I don't have a clue why it would happen. BTW, I mostly move my labels to the left if that has any bearing. Thanks, Mike
  5. Chief has a ARCH B, which is a 12x18. You could use it, do a save-as, and modify the borders to suit the 11x17.
  6. I'm with you. I would not place a door from the Living UNLESS the client absolutely insisted. One other comment - if the Living is on the front of the house, what about the "look" from the front, especially window placement and size? If no windows are in the Laundry or Master Bath, that may not look so good from the exterior.
  7. How many views do you normally have open? If you have several (using multiple monitors?) this will slow CA down. Also, as others have offered, having more than is needed displayed in the views will slow things down.
  8. Do you run CA for long periods of time? I sometimes have to reboot periodically, especially when these things begin to happen. CA just seems to develop "quirks" when it has been running for awhile. No rhyme or reason but I have noticed it for years, as have others. This has been discussed on the forum before. My biggest struggle with X11 is with toolbars; they disappear, change locations, dock to the sides or top or bottom by themselves without me changing them. I went to a new PC with multiple monitors with X11. I suspect that is part of the struggle but not sure why and I cannot duplicate it when it happens. When I set the toolbars they should stay put. I have gone thru Help and read others' comments - hasn't help so far.
  9. Just out of curiosity, do you need to dimension to the center of the tub and a dimension to the toilet? Accurately dimensioned walls define where the tub and toilet should go, unless you have some special reason to vary from standard. Eliminating those types of dimensions will clean up the dimension string. Also, dimensioning to the center of doors and windows will help unless you need the sides dimensioned. Just a suggestion.
  10. Pardon my ignorance, but would this not be confusing to the trades to have some views oriented one way and others oriented 90 degrees on the same page? Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to do.
  11. I have a Disto 7500i also that I use for field measurements. Do you do the field measuring in the Disto app and then import that plan into Chief, or is the app just to transfer the digital dimension to Chief?
  12. Apologies to the OP. Mark, do you use Room Planner with your tablet for your field measurements?
  13. I struggle with this all of the time. I like to "float" some of my toolbars, with a child toolbar along side, especially a customized Architectural Toolbar. They will not stay put and continually disappear totally. Like Rene, I have spent hours trying to find the culprit. Using multiple monitors seems to make it worse at times. If I try to customize a toolbar it seems to always mess up some of my other customizations. I have made sure I have checked the toolbars I want visible in the appropriate views. Works for a while and then will suddenly go crazy. I have resorted to just leaving them docked for most views; sometimes it's just not worth fighting the way CA works. Hasn't solved the problem totally as some will still disappear; but it is a little more stable. I worked with my customized configurations for years without much trouble, but I only had one monitor (I work on a desktop system). The multiple monitors and the ALDO seem to be part of the problem but I haven't been able to narrow it down for sure to either or both. It would be great to have this resolved as my workflow is slower without the customization I like.
  14. This has aggravated me for years. Like the OP, I like to put a lot of notes and dimensions on the plans; not to the point of confusion, but for clarity (I know, subjective). I would at least like to have a choice to add the extension line in a doorway/door or leave it as-is. Many times that's the best place for the dimension string. It has always looked strange to me to see a dimension tick mark in a doorway without the extension. It begs the question, "to what is he dimensioning to; the drywall, the framing, what?" Thanks, Don, and I do the workarounds; but I shouldn't have to, IMHO. Robert, if you will do a suggestion in the "Suggestions" forum (since you are the OP), I will support it.
  15. As my good cowboy friend from west Texas would say, "That and one more would make me two."
  16. Thanks, Yusuf. I don't need one, but the original poster (OP) was looking for help in doing one with a large, center stringer. The OP hasn't commented back yet so they may have found a way to do what they needed. You might want to post these examples and your rate above in the "Offering Services" forum for anyone looking at this thread at a later date; might get some business.
  17. I guess you have been busy, but we sure miss your input. I really like how you are one who "thinks outside the box."
  18. No. Copy/Paste waits for you to click a location to paste to; at least when used individually. I'm not sure about a hot-key as I don't have one set for that; Chopsaw may have the explanation for the hot-key.
  19. I just select wall, have a reference line available to mirror by, choose copy, mirror, done. Works for me. X11
  20. I thought I had done that. How did you show the "call"? I thought just placing the @ before the username would do that. Maybe because I copied and pasted from another post I went to to make sure I had his username right?
