Chief automatically lowers sill plate for stem wall
Kbird1 replied to HardWorkingBee's topic in General Q & A
Okay had a few minutes to look at this and it seems to work okay with the right settings for me........ ( in X14 at least ) ie the Addition set at -7" as mentioned in the OP ( was at 1.75") and the Pour/Framing group set to 2 ( mentioned above ) in the Addition Room DBX also. -
By Default Railings (walls) have this setting ON , so Auto Exterior dimensions do not find them , I am not sure if there are other use cases or not? M.

and there is the step I missed Thanks............ and for the SP too. M.

Chief automatically lowers sill plate for stem wall
Kbird1 replied to HardWorkingBee's topic in General Q & A
No, I just thought it maybe worth a try even so..... as CA's Settings sometimes act in unexpected ways.... * see below it does work at least in this case. -
Also what I do so the Layout can never "lose" the Image if for example a Folder is moved or deleted etc or I open it on my Laptop vs Desktop. M.

Not after a quick play I had after posting above, but perhaps Mark has some more symbol magic

Have You Upgraded To The Official X14 Release?
Kbird1 replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
No reason not to try it since it will run Side by side , just make copies of Plans to Open in X14 , so they can still be opened in X13. Like Rob I am seeing numerous small bugs but for me at least so far it is more "stable" than X13 and the "SAVE Lockout/crash" seems to have subsided too. M. -

Perhaps also Try the Slab Pour Options (Structure Tab ) for the Foundation Rooms -
I don't think Chief can do different Reveal ie Top vs Sides , or has that changed Mark? There is a Thread somewhere with Raised bottom Cabinets, as I used the Thread Last yr for Info for a Project. M.

My laptop has the 2070 and occasionally has this crash as does my 3080/3080Ti Desktop system , it is not the GPU but some Driver maybe worse than others , I am try 512.59 Studio at the moment but there was a new Driver a few days ago I declined , so perhaps that was the catalyst for your issue? M.

It may depend on the Version you are using how easy that is but you haven't done your Forum Signature with Ver. No# etc.

I am finding a number of different DBX are not "remembering" their Layout eg in a Materials selection Window after adjusting the Panes, same issue as in X12 I think it was at 1st? I am also unsure why the Dashboard goes full screen every time I open X14 ( i didn't mind the X13 look ) ....and if I turn it Off completely Chief automatically Opens a new Plan ??? X13 also seems to be overwriting the X14 "File Associations" , another old long time Issue that has come back it seems. M.

We see it , if you don't you may not have Show Signatures on in your Account settings. M.

HELP PLEASE - Won't Create Deck Hole in Platform

I am also finding a number of Issues with plans brought forward from X12 and X13 , so you should report this to TS so they can look at it. Mick. -

I've had Permissions Errors before when installing Chief ( more than once ) , this is my thread on that.....

If you open multiple instance of edge or even worst Chrome , they can eat a lot of Ram , I average 7-10 GB , though I do have 32GB on my Desktop I only have 16GB on my Laptop and don't notice a difference but if the budget is there go 32GB , I went 16GB n the laptop after seeing some of MarkMc comments on his test with Chief , knowing I could get more later if needed ( and likely cheaper than some companies charge for the upgrade ) M. @MarkMc PM sent Alastair

Have you tried the 3080ti in another Box, eg your son's? same issue? M.

You haven't missed anything Joe, Chief just doesn't do it unfortunately ( would make a good suggestion ) You can double up the Rim Joists and paint them the correct color/material or just use P.Solids in elevation too. M.

Chief runs well on 16gb ram and most modern computers use dual channel ddr4 ram , so you would be looking at 16 or 32 gb, 24gb is from the triple channel ddr3 days about 7-10yrs ago. M.

That model number does not lead me to those Specs online......... but the specs are fine..... perhaps link directly to model page......... M.
-
BINGO !

Personally I don't think trades should be scaling off pages with a tape measure anyway and I also use Snapshots ( Images) of the PDFs so Chief doesn't slow down too much and put a Note right on the page that it is not to be scaled from it. Mick.

Don't drag them full width of the lot ....... copy in place and drag one copy each way to the sides and lower/raise ONE as needed to slope across ...Chief will smooth the terrain between the two. M.
