  1. I agree ALL models should have a Foundation (slab or Stem wall) and Roof Built Auto even for Interior only Projects for the PBR Lighting to work correctly. A 2nd story also works but I'd still let the roof build on it auto as well.
  2. I was thinking large windows , but there may have been supply constraints looking at the Framing as it appears that was the original intent. I am not sure why the wall is almost in the window in the last two photos though? M.
  3. So using Eric's (Solver) Free Tool, (link below- Thanks) it turns out this plan started in X13 , so ( once again ) Plans brought forward maybe the Issue here too. ( Unfortunately Eric was forced to remove his wee program that read the File Version the program was started and last saved in.) Mick. @solver
  4. Glad to hear it worked for you but for me there is nothing to delete ..according to CA , as auto purge is on , so the purge button is greyed out. M.
  5. There are Roof Basics KB ( KnowledgeBase) Articles which is always a good place to start for short Tuts. and you can download the PDF too.), and numerous Videos if you prefer videos https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00758/generating-automatic-hip-and-gable-roofs.html and https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/95/roofs.html Mick.
  6. Always happy to help, everyone was once where you are, and the Community here is really helpful, keeping reading Questions here everyday, you'll learn a lot that is not in the Manual ( all the handy little User Tips ) and it not quite as dry as the Manual either Mick.
  7. This sounds like the solution , though designating a Room a Porch should turn the Roof Over this Room on automatically ( and make the Floor a Slab.) Deck ( rooms) on the the other hand don't have roofs by default , but can with the above setting too. The Blue wall is nothing to worry about , it will disappear when the roof builds ...it is because Chief's Walls are always "looking for" the Roof Plane above and i this case it happens to be the Overhang (eave) Mick.
  8. Had the same problems myself , I took a screen grab of it and saved to the Data Folder , as I can never remember the Search terms... M.
  9. Unfortunately I can't post Client Plans / Templates on the Forum , sorry should of mentioned that in the OP. M.
  10. Check your Deck has the Auto Framing (Regenerate) ON...... and the Retain Framing box is not Checked M.
  11. Try posting in the Local User Groups Forum or checking for other There.... Mick. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/forum/14-local-user-groups/
  12. Thanks for the Replies , not in a Block as far as I know ( but will check) , as it is always Font's I don't use or even have. this didn't happen in previous Versions , except for the odd Client using a Mac Font eg Helvetica ( windows pc have a redirect to Arial for this built in I believe ) or Andale Mono. If I figure it out I will post back...... Mick.
  13. the X14 Layout Wall Surface Triangle Lines Issue has come back for me , using thelatest Nvidia Studio Driver in Win.10. anyone else notice this? This is the Layout I am currently doing..... I am losing so much time with X14 between this , the Save Issue , and all the other "little anomalies" ..... 4 of 12 so far....... Mick.
  14. Just curious if anyone else has this Issue , as I am not sure if it's on my end of X14 , though it has only started in X14. the 1st start of a Layout file each day always askes to change the Font and highlights some weird Font I have never used, and isn't even on my System ( why it's asking I presume ) but it is not the same Font every time - it seems totally random. I use Century Gothic a lot and Arial with a lot of my Client Work , so am not sure why this is happening..... *** Unfortunately I can't post Client Plans / Templates on the Forum ..... Mick.
  15. So True ..... that's what they are there for .....
  16. Should be the same thing - Unless the User changes the Data Folder Templates - the ones in the Programs Folder as there so Chief will reinstall them to the Data Folder should the need arise. M.
  17. It should work fine these days but you do need a wall or Cabinet to snap it too, not sure what your 6" Backsplash is in chief. M.
  18. Try moving the Interior Insulation to the Interior Layers ...not the framing (main) layer
  19. The Driver Issue is likely related to Win10 and Win 11 needing "Signed (Certified) Drivers" or they won't load, and that includes many 32bit Drivers from winXP. Driver Enforcement can be temporarily disabled though.............. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/156602-how-enable-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-windows-10-a.htmlhttps://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/156602-how-enable-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-windows-10-a.html Mick.
  20. Yes , but you need to release it ( make available) via your Chief Account 1st, under digital Locker IIRC. M.
  21. You are not the only one , there is another Thread on slowness and these lock-ups ...for me it is the Save system, eg Auto save , and Auto Archive settings usually, but manual saves also can trigger the same 3 - 11 min lock out, and occasional full crash in my case. Some have reported a link to the Time Log and have tried disabling it , but I use it for Billing , so can't do that, but I am not sure how the two would be linked, or if that is a separate issue?. more info in this thread.....
  22. Don't use the TP as your PL ( copying/holding the TP, turns it into a CAD polyline since you can't have two TPs ) , then just pull the TP as big as you need , and change the line style of the new PL line to an actual PL line from the Library. Mick.
  23. Printing automatically makes Chief do a FULL Layout Update , and it appears to me that when this happens that text block is being "pulled/refreshed" from the wrong .plan ie the Existing Plan vs the Proposed Plan. you might want to have them do the "refresh" before printing to check things like this...... Mick.
  24. From my reading the RTX 4000 MaxQ is only about the same performance as Mark's ( hi ) and my own 2070S Laptops, and my experience is about the same as Mark's, I'd rather work on my Desktop when able but still okay generally. PDFs, saved in Plan, hidden or not can also slow things down as can Materials with LOTS of Patterns lines , or anything with a ton of CAD work , for example a Cad DWG file imported to Trace over , it maybe this , as it usually is apparent when zooming in and out and Seeing X's over CAD Boxes etc. Chief for a number of years, has tended to act "weird" if used for long periods ( memory leak? ) so I find it best to close down and reboot at lunch break for example. There are Threads here on the Forum related to Slowness in Plans , specific Plans and in general. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/34172-real-time-ray-tracing-questionsproblemssolutions/?do=findComment&comment=267168 Mick.
