you can alter the Comment field in the Components list (scroll right>) if desired and many of the other fields too , which would make the Change Permanent rather than per plan for any given object , so you may or may not want to do it in the Components list , though it is still be editable in the Materials list once generated. M.

Yes in Pref.>Materials>Report style is where you can adjust the order by moving them up and down the order and add sub categories if wanted and decide what categories you want in your materials list BUT you can't edit the Components there, to edit an items components you can select any library item, edit>component , or do the same to any item(object) in your plan. ( maybe other ways too?) it is in this DBX where you can turn on or off the item's components ,listed in the Materials List , with the "Use" Check Box. Once you select an Object ,you will see a Blue icon on the edit menu that looks like a spreadsheet page. in your 3rd pic I don't see the comment column? so you can't edit it...... so my guess would be you have it turned off in the (Layer) Display Options ? (Icon with the checkmark) The Options dialog is useful when you only want to see certain Columns on your materials list once generated IF that category is ON in the Prefs.>Materials>Report style Tab. Once you have the comment field to work with you can edit it by clicking in it and typing , the description and size field are editable too , Count is NOT but extra is..... M.

As Glen said there is an article on Coffered Ceilings (also called Trey) which might help here: http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00738/26/Chief-Architect/Ceilings/Creating-a-Trey-or-Coffered-Ceiling-Using-the-Platform-Hole-Tool.html

the "columns" can be moved by moving them up and down the order in the Options Tab , you can also uncheck columns you don't want displayed. I believe using sub-categories and then assigning them will let you do some of that but am no expert on Materials lists.... You can also use the "Components list" of Objects/items to "Use" or not "Use" on the Materials List for most Items eg turning off hinges for every single door or the Door Sill or Frame, (since they come as one unit from the Manufacturer.) I was messing with a soffit to do this when I realised for this kitchen there is a simpler way, so thought I'd post for any future searcher that if you have a cooktop ,rather than a slide in Range like the OP , just make the Backsplash for the base cabinet 60" high instead of 18" (common default) and it will go upto the 96" ceiling...make it higher if you have higher ceilings....this assumes a standard counter at 36", if need be, do the same for the cabinet either side of the cooktop cabinet as I did too(see image) , to fill in extra space , any extra tile is hidden behind the upper wall cabinets. With no base cabinet I think the Soffit Tool is the easy Solution unless you have X6 of course with custom backsplashes. someone may followup on this: If you have a wall cabinet above your hood ,but still have the slide in Range ,does trying the checkbox for "build backsplash down to Base cabinet" , in the Wall cabinets DBX, build it down to 36" counter height or not? , not sure it works if there is no base cabinet? Hi Mike , I needed to install some older software earlier this week and to do that I had to install Win7 XPMode 1st , it works great, but I had the thought that since you are on Win7 you can probably do the same , and install X1 in XP rather than in Win7 as original intended. The only thing I am not sure about is what the Video enhancements/3D features are supported in XpMode? Others may chime in hopefully.... Get the file with -N in the name unless you need/want windows media-player in xp. I was linked to this page , to do it , hope it helps... http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7#section_3

Beware The Latest Nvidia Driver Update 5/19 9.18.13.3788
Kbird1 replied to BryceEngstrom's topic in General Q & A
I recently downgraded to 314.09 on my GTX470 too which got rid of the pink dots on my gadget clock's hands and numbers too, and for my older card seems faster... perhaps it changes the Gamma settings though ? -
Do you want the wall leaning over at 70 degs? or do you want the top of the Wall raked at 70 deg. ? Leaning walls aren't really doable as Bryce mentioned as far as I know. M.

I don't use it often but haven't had an issue ,but maybe the top window was fixed as you say, though I'd have thought it would auto align anyway being in the same "framing hole" esp. with snaps on, M.
-
if you use the stacking option I mentioned above you wont need to play with the ctrl key or the center tool either.... it will auto align
-
As Rod said for the default window separation but for the top window open it's DBX in elevation view and on the Options tab set the Vertical Stacking to 1 not 0 . M

I have something similar under Pergolas , try looking under Arbor too. Carport is a good guess actually...

I don't see an image? M. ok there it is ....sorry I don't recognise it.....
-
ok , the VIEW LAST SAVE is only seen IF you reload the window/post , otherwise you see the "last save at " message. M.

Ok thanks Glenn , I now have Rich Text Options, and I see there is an option on this toolbar for "special bbcode" too , 3rd one in from left, aint played with it though. waiting 2 mins for autosave................ well it looks like turning on Rich Text also enabled the "Last saved at " on the bottom LH side too , it is now there....

isn't this what they call a Gullwing roof? Somewhat modified ,but one of the basic auto roofs at least in HD Pro... there is a tutorial in the knowledge base I think... but can be done manually with the help of the upper roof pitch checkbox and inputting the desired distance and pitch too. Gable each end wall single pitch side...set wall to desired pitch (no other checkboxes) double pitch side ....set pitch on wall and check upper pitch box , put in distance second pitch starts from wall (baseline) and pitch of second roof. and hopefully it will auto build correctly http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Automatically-Building-the-Basic-Roof-Styles.html#Gull if you have SSA there is also video 1505 http://video.chiefarchitect.com/player/player.php?id=726&th=1&autoplay=

has anyone else seen that autosave option in Brian's Post ? or is it just me who's never seen it? actually I don't get the rich text options above either everything is grayed out , is that a setting in my profile perhaps? M.

yep you are right , it was the 3D engine that told me it had the 5300 points to interpolate.....and see now at your suggestion there are actually 35,500 point ..... now I'm even more curious about how they do it ? satellite data I'm guessing ? Part of it looks like it is "man-made" way too round , with concentric circles.... and the long "trough" on the RH side

Sorry thought X1 was where multiple cpus where 1st introduced to CA ( X2 perhaps?) but at the time not everyone had dual core cpus ,which is pretty much standard now, if not quad core. Check the reference manual/online help for "Optimize for Multi-Core CPU's" , it was a troubleshooting option....
-
think it was on the 1st page/tab of the import wizard? but I'm not on X6 like you .... I can try it again if that aint right , it was on by default so I left it actually , being a noob to this terrain import option..... I can't believe a Surveyor did almost 5300 points...wow...... still not 100% sure it was in feet......and now I think of it wonder if I was in imperial or decimal feet too M.
