Yes, that was why I asked someone to post a copy and I didn't want to reinstall , in case it messed something else up by setting everything to OOB settings again...... eg Preferences etc.

Thanks Rob even had the Flatscreen TV ready

I would assume he is asking about the 29th as that is when the Sale Pricing for Chief Ends...... which may mean he doesn't have it yet , so the Beta Team is not an option. So far I think the Video is all we have , since all the new Features probably aren't finalized yet.... M.

you' re not necessarily you doing anything wrong perse, but it can depend on other settings for example the one's Eric has high-lighted above. in the case of Porches it is sometimes better to use the Deck Room designation and do the Porch roof plane manually..... if that isn't possible? you have not done your SIG so I don't know your version , see mine for how) then try the advice/ideas in this post by Jo_Ann..... https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/3785-mixed-pitches-on-gabled-roofs-at-90°/?do=findComment&comment=20451

I would suspect that the network Drive is not setup correctly or the address in the Prefs. is not correct ie it also needs the server name as it is currently looking on each local computer for g:\ Drive not the network , unless you have mapped a network drive to g:\ Drive on every other computer too? (I would use something higher myself like X: ) //ServerName/g:\G6000\6100 etc etc ServerName can be the IP address too //192.168.x.x/g:\G6000\6100 etc etc

Would someone please confirm below or post the file info for Profile.Plan for X9 please ie Date size etc , a pic from Explorer would work fine I think, I am unsure if mine is "clean" any longer as the two files now have different dates ie the one in the Data Folder is newer than the backup one in C:\Programs\CA\Templates , but I am not 100% sure it is Clean either.... Or post a "known" clean version please. Thanks, M.

Add the plan File to your post above so someone can look for you. Make sure the plan is closed in Chief before you try , as Chief Locks the File while in use. Also being you 1st post it is best to fill in your Forum signature with your Version etc as different versions have different remedies.... see my Sig for how to do that..... If you are using a CA "Home" Product the best place to post is on Home Talk not Chief Talk ...you can use the same Username and PW over there too. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ M.

shiny copper from where? an image you found online ? many of CA's old Metals are not good , like their Old Stainless Steel but CA has a newer Bonus Metal Library , not sure if that'll help..... https://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/detail/1007

The best solution is not to use CA's Glass Wall , it has ALWAYS had issues , at least for me , for years I have just used Glass Shower Doors etc I have made from Soffits, if in a hurry or made a symbol if needed. Once you have this once add it to your Library and in the Future a couple of clicks gives you a nice Shower Glass Door. M.

And use the Purge button if you see Unused Materials on the List.......

I see that ... I was looking at the Resources Library on Teknion's Website , that Emma referred too , and the ones I tried were all 2018 I guess, according to Sketchup 2017... maybe I was unlucky? EDIT : I now see the issue I think , Emma did what I did and just clicked the download icon , which gives you the latest version automatically , without opening the dropdown, if you click the image of the furniture piece, it opens another window and the download button opens the dropdown for different Years Files. 2017 version files work with X9 BTW. Mick.

*** Incorrect info see next two posts.... Teknion Furniture is all SketchUp Version 2018 by the looks , at least the models I tried , none would open in Sketchup Make 2017..... if you click the image of the furniture piece, it opens another window and the download button opens the dropdown for different Years Files. 2017 version files work with X9 BTW they do open in the SketchUp Free App , which is now Web Browser Based but unlike Sketchup Free of Old I see no way to "Save As" > 2015 Version as you used to be able to do. I may have missed something , this is the App Web Interface where you can sign in with Gmail etc. https://app.sketchup.com Ask Teknion to make a 2017 Version Full Chief Library perhaps....

How do I change the scale of my layout in x9
Kbird1 replied to ChiefUserRudolf's topic in General Q & A
Sorry , I was away from the Computer this afternoon , so didn't see this till now , but it looks like Chopsaw and Michael helped you sort it out. It appears to me from your Pics that you may have set the Grid Units in the Plan Defaults to 100m instead of 1000mm ( 10 boxes = 1002m) and so each Grid space was 100metres long not the usual 1000mm or 1metre. .....you can make the Grid anything you want , eg use 500mm instead of 1000 or don't use the Grid at all if you don't want too , turning on the Display of Wall Lengths while Editing, is a great help I find especially if not using the Grid to get things close. The Wall Dialog DBX Numbers Button only shows you different ways you can display Data in that particular Dialog Box , it has no bearing on anything else.- 17 replies

My Files are just 5 - Column Templates , nothing Special , so anyone can Copy and Paste all their Own Notes into them after deleting my Place Holder Text. M.

I have several version of Chief so I tend to change the global ones so they all use the same settings , not sure if what I have currently is Ideal but I'd think with your card you could set them higher than 4X shown in My Pics below.... I have a 980Ti. As far as I can figure Nvidia's Ambient Occlusion is not the same as used in CA X9 , as Nvidia claims CA X9 does not support it , if you add CA X9 to the Programs Tab. M.

Hmmmm , I guess you and I actually did it totally different then The Whole Idea of doing the Plan Specification in Word 1st is so you can do exactly what you want to do ... ie: " use various text sizes and bold (section titles) and standard fonts, some with underlining," And only once all done in Word save it as a PDF, ( make sure your page size is 11x17 1st) then in Acrobat Reader (or whatever you use), Print it to PDF at ARCHD size and import it into the Layout, with "No tinkering to do" as it's already all Finished..... It works pretty well. Mick.

the difference is that I have a Fascia Board .....turn it back on and no White Rafters in Chop's Plan either..... not sure why your Rafters still get cut yet with no sub Fascia. Weirdly to do that I had to use the "Edit All Roof Planes" tool for existing Roof Planes, which I didn't need to do in Mine ????? Ahhhhhh the quirks of CA

You don't say what Version you are on but the Early 388 series had many issues ...well documented all over the Hardware Forums , I think Nvidia has released 3 or 4 388 Series Drivers now in the last month or so which tells me something ain't quite right.... they usually release about once a Month or so some have good luck with 385.69 too.
-
The reason I made it 1/16th was that if I turn it off the Rafters don't get Cut at 5 1/2 inch Maybe my Profile.Plan is no longer the OOB Profile Plan from CA and something is messed up..... not sure maybe it isn't the X9 version? in my Plans Folder ? M.

you could also C&P them into your Template Plan for future Use..... I do what Perry does actually (above) .... may have learned that one from Him M.
-
did you see this post ?
-
Hi Chopsaw , I thought this method would work too , made the sub-Fascia 1/16th thick and was just going to make it/paint it White with the Rafters but for some reason in my Test Plan it will not let me have White Rafters/subfascia if I use an Air Gap or Open - No Material Material for the Soffit..... I see that you can ...would you mind posting your test plan so I can figure out why it doesn't work here, thanks.... unless You Know why? M.

I was looking at this method myself this afternoon after looking at Richard's Post but it sounds like you had the same issue as me ... no option to enlarge the PDF by 200% was available in the Print Dialog Box. The Trick I used is to set Acrobat Reader on the File>Print Setup Tab to ARCH_D size paper and Landscape Mode, (or ANSI_D if ANSI_B Template) this allows printing to pages up to that size now) and then in the Print dialog , set the Page Scaling to Fit To Printable Area and then reprint it using a Print to PDF Printer like Microsoft's built in PDF Printer or Bullzip PDF Printer , which I use. I found it was best to make the Template ANSI_B (Ledger size, 17x11) or ARCHB (12x18) depending on whether ARCHD (24x36) or ANSI D (22x34) is the Layout Size and then once in Layout, scaling The PDF after importing it , to fit inside the Title Box making sure the aspect ratio stays the same. That maybe different if you have the ability to scale the Original PDF by any percentage you want eg 185% instead of using a Paper size twice that of the Original. Here are my files if you want to test it out.....including some test PDFs. I used Richard's Instructions and my own notes in the Template to fill in the Columns so I'd always have them with the Template , so no need to C&P the above info. I made One with a Border and One without , since I couldn't decide..... if you want them 12x18 , reset the Page size in Word on the Page Layout Tab to ARCHB and resave them , as I made mine Ledger Size (17x11) since one of my Printers can do that if needed. ( 4 sheets = 22 x 34 or ANSI_D) Plan Specification Templates.zip Mick.

I noticed the same thing in 3D views...

In that case I think I would of just used 3 posts with footing and a beam , with a manual roof plane over it set at the correct Pitch..... ie same way it is built ITRW assuming it has no foundation to speak of ? .......................and find a better gravel texture than Chief's M.
