I have tried this in another Users' Plan I was helping this morning and it also works there ....once the defaults and Enhanced lighting is turned on and the Original Camera deleted , and then reshot...once again I am using the Beta3 Still. M

I haven't updated yet as I wasn't sure if I should install over the Beta , or Uninstall it and reinstall Clean as an Upgrade ( to X9) and perhaps not migrate anything , what would you suggest?

I think I may have figured it out this morning , at least in the Beta.... try this ..... if you use the Automatic light Set? then set the Limit to 100 with Improve lighting Quality On ( 50 maybe enough in some plans , not in Grandview for me? ) , if left on the Default of 8, I can reproduce the White Out effect ...at least in the Grandview Plan ..still best to reshoot the View to fix it though as it seems to not like it if not reshot...I have set 100 in my Camera Defaults too now, to see if it continues or not , but need to test more to confirm if it works as maybe it is just a placebo or one off ?. Thanks for the Heads-Up Joe . M.

Are you letting it install over the beta or doing a Full Uninstall and Reinstall ? just wondering if a Full Reinstall with no Migration ( X9 or X10Beta) maybe the best way to go ? M.

Thanks Joe , appreciate it , lets hope Napolean will come to the party and make a Full Library at some point.

Brian Beck posted this in another Thread about how to handle Reflective Materials in X10 20.1 ( Full Release ) Creating a General Material with a low roughness and a higher specular value should give you a very reflective surface in 20.1. Altering the roughness and specular values should give you the control needed to get results similar if not the same as X9. Have you been able to test this out? If you are still getting undesirable results in this area please submit a plan to tech support so we can look into the issue further.

This is the only Info I have , you could try Emailing her and ask more Questions.... I am sure there are Others who would like to know too. =============================================================================== Hello Mick, Thank you for your interest in Chief Architect Certification Exam! You can take the exam whenever you feel ready. We just need about a 2 week window to schedule a time that will work for both us and you. The exam is 4 hours long and is done online. You will need the program too as you will be working in the program and have a plan to you will need to submit at the end. There are no practice exams but if you do not pass the first time included is one free retake with your purchase. The exam can be done in X9 we will not have the X10 exam ready for at least a couple months. Please let me know if you have any further questions at this time. Same issue here , I can sometimes fix it moving the camera 12-18" left or right of the Original position , other times a Close and reshoot will fix it and sometimes toggling Improved Lighting will fix it but no definitive Fix yet , at least not in the Beta.... more in this thread too...

I only work in Color, in Plan View and 3D Camera ( except Elevations where I don't like it much ) I don't usually Print in Color except to PDF , for some reason Plans don't "feel" like Plans if not in Black and White , must be something to do with not be a Millennial M.

Stairs with drywall handrails with cutouts in the walls
Kbird1 replied to redThomes's topic in General Q & A
I'm guessing cos with Drywall on you can't see the Structural Elements of the Stairs ( the Carriage ) Usually, the Decorative Element above, ie the Stair Baseboard or Kick (or Stringer as some call) it is then the "important element" in CA 3D Views so it takes importance, since likely the Auto Stair Builder can't build both of different thicknesses in the same plane. -
You could Export the Library out of X8 and Try them , see if they work any differently , but as Mark said I thought they had "fixed" that in X9 but they will "jump" to the nearest object they think they need under certain circumstances , eg I have seen them jump from an Island to the nearest Wall before. I know I have picked up a few GFIs etc in the Symbol Forum over the years too if you need them. *The Jumping Issue happens when you Block Island Groups which causes the Electrical to detach but not move until a subsequent change is made eg changing it's height https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16131-cabinet-or-island-duplex/?page=2#comment-135609 M.

There is a PDF linked on the Certification Page ( and below ) but that is all the Help they will give , I inquired last year after seeing this post originally and they do not have Old Tests to Bone up on and find weak Spots etc with. https://cloud.chiefarchitect.com/1/pdf/training/certification-competency-matrix.pdf I assume that was 2003 Scott ? Not sure there were many Users in 1953 bit before I was playing with CA either Way. M.

I am holding off too , I still don't have the last Update for X9 as it causes Issues for some....
-
I have also noticed this in recent Files , but haven't figured out "The Why" , but you would think the "System" would Merge them automatically if the are Identical.... M.

It is supposed to be today but I think in the Past The Official Announcement has not happened till about Lunchtime... And a Reminder that Beta Serial No#'s will expire on Feb 20th too. M.

Do-able yes , just don't select Sloping Flat Truss or Move the bottom Chord off Horizontal at 1st as in my experience they they either become non-editable in the Truss Detail Window or require alot of Manual fixing ...someone may have a work around though ? I am not a Truss Expert by any means. a few posts on the topic https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/10899-how-to-you-fuss-with-a-truss/?do=findComment&comment=94632 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/7895-sloping-flat-truss-with-parapet-walls/#comment-69739

read the thread linked above .... it is a known issue CA is aware of this Issue but ask T.Support if you wish , they can't fix it either , their fix was my fix , ie roll back to previous Drivers. (382.05 specifically) I think I saw some also mention issues on Intel GFX Cards but not many... Label lock out is the no#1 symptom of this issue..... usually on laptops with the 388 Series of Nvidia Drivers ...if you don't have those then we may have a new issue but as you have provided no extra Information.....I'd only be guessing... Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. M.

Hmmmmm looks like Charles couldn't figure it out either.... it is simply an issue in the auto-join capability of walls not recognising the fact one wall is lower than the other and filling in the stucco where needed. Not much we can do for a Programming Error , especially since we can fix it and it changes it back cos it thinks it knows better. And since when do Porches have Stem Walls above the Slab ???? that would be a nice "step over" at the top of the Stairs ....wow.... Please try harder Charles....we need a Real Solution M.

yes, the new X10 default OBO Templates are very monotone..... I guess they think it looks more "Professional" or Revit/AutoCad like but I happen to like drawing in Color. M.

@redraw1 I have seen a Deck Handrail break a wall Connection on a corner before, and it not be obvious, usually you can find these one by clicking and selecting th exterior Room and you'll see where it "flows inside" the house but we are only guessing without the plan file to look at for you , but perhaps you have figured it out now? Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that.

We're all waiting for you to Post your Plumbing Components Library in the Symbols Forum You would think we'd have one by now, being that many Jurisdictions require these drawings for Permits nowadays.... My Bad.... I forgot Eye-Candy before ConDocs rules the day.
-
It's not that hard , there are Bolts in the Library for example you can multiple Copy , they are alread Auto Added tot he ML but at Code quantities , though you can change that in the Walls Component DBX I believe , here is a Post for another User with more info....

Stairs with drywall handrails with cutouts in the walls
Kbird1 replied to redThomes's topic in General Q & A
Nope , not just you, more like Everyone I almost didn't the last two years but looking at the Cost to upgrade every 2-3 years is the same as paying for SSA so..... I've been waiting for 5 years at least for a Material List overall and in that time all we have gotten are macros to use in the ML, which still isn't dynamic for some reason like Schedules are. Oh and the ability to click on an item in the ML and find it in the Plan. Which with the Obtuse and incorrect Names the ML uses for Items will be handy to find out what the H*** it is referring to ie Fascia is not a Rafter... ) Well it didn't say in your plan that it wasn't complete or Correct , ie the Roof Structure / Insul. so I only designed what I could.... but that's doable too by lowering the landing and or starting it further over etc , I don't know what the constraints are but am willing to work on a Paid Assignment for you 1.) Stringer thickness or depth? AFAIK you can't change either they are hard-coded , just like the single middle stringer is hardcoded so if you want extras you need to draw your own currently but you can copy the existing Stringer in elevation and make it deeper eg 2x12 instead of 2x10 or thicker eg 3"x10 or 3x12 and place them on top of the Auto-Built ones. 2.) Also No ...it is hard-coded into the Auto-Stair Builder but as you can see in the Link above, doing your own you can make individual materials for each piece if desired. Should that be needed, also a No, but it is unfortunately what we have today, Stairs haven't changed much in the last 8-10 years I've been using CA it seems. M.
