I rarely place Cabinets in 3D , I normally do all of that in 2D , then Open a Camera to check things out . I got the GE Catalog to check it out in particular but don't see any difference in load times when selecting a category eg Cooking ie it "thinks about it" for a 1 or 2 count (depends on size of catalog) and then the preview Window loads in with the small previews. clicking one of them is more or less instant in either VV or STD View. I do use Tiled to Fit Window and "Show Names" , the preview pane in .54 seems as fast in VV or STD now unlike when X10 1st came out so I do think they worked on the RCSS issue in the Original X10 . I am not sure if CA generates previews thumbs and then subsequent openings of the catalog would be faster , not having to do it again but perhaps it needs to generate the previews every time? M.

I think you are right , I have just had to live with it ,despite having top of the line hardware like you.... you can turn off RCSS in alot of Views but in the Library and DBX's is not possible so the only option is Vector view. M.

If you did your Signature? you didn't enable Signatures for your Profile ...should go Green when checked as I don't see it.... or you filled in your Forum Profile Page Info and not your Signature perhaps under Account above? M.

Post the Plan ( make sure closed in CA 1st or it wont attach ) and I'll have a quick look but am thinking what I suggested should work.... what version of Chief are you using? different versions require different answers which is why we like the Signature filled in too. M.

I don't have a 3D Printer or know much about it but have read here a few times that Chief's STL Models are "leaky" and may need "fixing" with a Mesh Repair Tool like Meshlab http://www.meshlab.net/

V10 or X10 ? (version 20 really) does the Wacom tablet work properly in Win10? I was able to get an old Bamboo Fun working with old Drivers as there are none for Win10 but I don't use it for Chief , it's on another Computer entirely. Please fill in your Forum signature with the details etc , they help answer your questions help more accurately, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too .............. You may need to make a room with invisible walls ( unless existing room is one big ramp?)and then make the room Open below and then add a ramp as a Ramp alone will not cut the floor slab out for you. Use the windows Snipping tool to post images direct to the thread please , pdfs mean we need to download them and save them then delete them... Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too .............. See mine below in Blue for how to do that. did you try this? your computer is about as fast as it can be.....it had taken me a bit to get used to X10 and it's slight lag on opening views etc but eve the latest release ( .54) has not made things much better, I still suspect RCSS and it is better than when x10 1st came out but there is still that slight lag here and there. M.

I saw the question earlier but thought someone "in the know" would answer , as I have never really used it and hadn't noticed if it was Auto in X9 or Not, I am not ware of a Preference setting for this. M.

Assuming Interiors has WMR's? Make the main bathtub Wall one tile using a WMR set not to cut the parent object (drywall/backerboard) and use a 2nd WMR as the other Part just make it 1/16th thicker than the main Tile so it covers it, there is no need to shape both that way. It is fairly easily done in a Wall Elevation View , it is how I usually do feature Strips/bands etc. .....it may help you to watch a Vid or two on Editing CAD Lines so you can shape a WMR or Polyline and then turn it into a WMR

X10 uses the new Ray Cast Sun Shadows (RCSS) in ALL views including the Library, Dialog Boxes (DBX) etc , so it may help too, in Preferences set DBX's and the Library to show Previews in Vector View instead since they should "draw" faster, turning off Shading (shadows) in Vector Views may help too in this regard. I have not found an undo of 10 is any better than one of 50 in regards to "Lag" , it does help in my testing to have both Chief's Undo and Temp Folders on the Fastest SSD in the System (NVME=best) so I have made my own Folder on C:\ Drive and set them in Chief's Preferences to those Folders, as My Default Chief Data Folder is not normally on C: as I keep My Documents on an extra Drive ( now a separate SSD , (the old C:Drive now A: ) after getting the NVME SSD. It is important to Chief during Updates that the Temp Folder is on C: otherwise Updates do no seem to work correctly ...eg they don't work in my testing if the Temp folder is on a Ram disk. I also have a batch file (.bat) I use to clean the Temp Folders out as the Undo Folder does not clean itself out very well when you close Chief and there is no reason to keep these Files as Chief will not be able to open them again anyway. Closing Chief every few hours is always helpful I find , eg when you go to lunch or Coffee Break etc.

computer sounds fine to me , people are running CA on lesser Machines...... you could buy HD Pro , $495 , which is rebated against Chief if you Upgrade to Premier , or you could Rent Chief monthly ($200 ) too , there is a learning Curve though, and I wonder if you have Industry experience to let you design the Home of your Dreams? you maybe better off hiring someone local who uses Chief especailly if you want to expedite the Project. You can use the Display Above or Below Tool on any Roof plane to force the display of all roof planes on Floor 2 on to floor 1 (or vica versa) , it doesn't shift the planes only their display to make them easier to work with. there is a bit more info in the Ref. Manual on page 791 ...but not much... but it shows what the Tool Icons look like which should appear on the edit toolbar when a Roof Plane is selected. M.

Welcome to the Forum.... I do not think it is your computer , it is very similar to mine ( see my Signature ) but could you explain the "lag" a bit more , what is happening? If you import a lot of Models from SketchUp (3D warehouse) be very careful to check the Polygon count as Chief doesn't like a lot of curved surfaces for example, they can really slow things down. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too .............. See mine below in Blue for how to do that. Was just thinking the same thing.....

You may find if you are not zoomed in close enough to the Dimension String , it will not offer to open the DBX ( dialog box) and let you enter the Dimension manually , the cursor will change to a pointing finger if it is going to be open-able.

Thanks , I was thinking it maybe a IE issue , not showing me something on the new Webpage but I guess not needs a fix on their end it seems.

Current Screen As Image is automatically saved in Plan and is how I normally do pics, so they don't change and the link can't be lost. Otherwise I import an Image that I have already made for the Client previously , (which is what I think Bob just did to fix his), and make sure to open the DBX and Save in Plan at 100% . ( Chief makes low kb sized image files already without making the quality lower ) I guess you do need to be aware that the Images may not reflect current Changes though doing it this way. M.

Just to double check it wasn't a Browser Issue or something I installed Fire Fox on my Surface3 but still the same issue in the Locker ....my older versions are not under the Account or the Dropdown Arrow, which I didn't notice before but I wasn't looking for a dropdown either as everything was on One page before

I thought ALL views were Updated automatically if you hit the Print Button? at least that was my understanding previously..... I am guessing Bob's issue is somehow related to the View sent to layout and it has changed since the Layout last got Updated or a View was Deleted etc. M.

Yep , unfortunately I can't access the Program to do that , I think I was testing them on my new Laptop ( which died ) but I wasn't concerned as I knew I could do it online , so someone posting this news about the Locker Change this morning had/has me worried, but it sounds like they are aware of it and luckily I can do without it for the next week I think. It has unfortunately shown why I don't like being tied to a Online Only Security program / license , it is already enough of a Pita having to sign in and out of my Laptop or Desktop as I can't run both at the same time , last time this happened I was up the Coast with no internet access so I was stuck and couldn't use CA..... and CS wouldn't switch it over the Phone (landline) for me.
