  1. Did you Mull the windows together ? if so uncheck the Option to treat the Opening as one Hole..... otherwise post the Plan please, and at some point please do your Forum signature , in particular we need to know the Version of Chief you are using for many questions. M.
  2. It depends a bit on the final look , this Method works if you want the Commercial Style recess with the Door Frame flush to the Drywall surface ,(no casings) and don't mind the reveal all the way to the Floor. At least it is working in Michael's plan ..... I guess I am looking at the unfixed plan of your's David as the "casing" is out past the drywall... Pretty sure TrimTex has these drywall reveal trims available...
  3. Here is the plan back to look at...... *** I changed your Annotations slightly to reference their Own Layers Sets ie Framing Anno pulls up Framing Layerset auto. Litchtman_MHD_Rev1.plan
  4. Because you don't have any Bearing Walls or Bearing lines............. you do indeed have some very long ceiling Joists eg 71' 6" try adding a few and watch what happens....
  5. Just close the ML TAB and don't save it , then generate another.... ML's are basically a "snapshot" at the instant you generate them only let me look at the plan....
  6. Did you delete the ML and open it again to refresh it ? ( it doesn't refresh automatically)
  7. Check out Structural Member Reporting in Plan Defaults , copy the existing default , (so you don't alter the original) and try different settings eg cut list , but my guess is you have total linear length on by default, so CA is consolidating the materials. Mick. edit: a coule of KB Articles that may help...... PDF under Tools Green button too. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00095/creating-a-cut-list-of-framing-materials.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00510/controlling-the-information-in-a-materials-list.html
  8. Check you Plan Defaults>Window there is a separation setting and you can also specify the Rough Opening spaces each side under Framing etc.
  9. Steve used a Pony wall for his Brick.... on top of the Foundation Wall.... ie how it would be built in the Real World (ITRW).....
  10. Posting the Plan is ALWAYS the best way.....there are way too many Options and Situations to play 20 questions... we don't even know what software you are Using? add it to your Signature.... Subfascia is too small and you have "Cut framing to Soffit" on? ...........and a low pitched Roof
  11. looks like it might be PBR ? you need to add your version to your Sig. Scott.... have you seen this on PBR ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/2426/physically-based-rendering-technique.html if PBR set exposure to .3 ( from .18), Brightness to 75 and make auto lights 100 , not the default 8. And turn on Use Improved lighting..... M.
  12. Can't tell from that pic.....is "Same Eave Heights" on by chance? M.
  13. Just don't migrate anything when it asks, and keep production work in X10 for now if worried..... ya know ya wanta
  14. There is no texture for the Brick only a Pattern , so I would try a standard CA Brick to see if it helps..... Plan is okay in X9 too....
  15. Been having some Random Issues too , but have been think it was Pilot Error of something and usually just restart CA . My ALDO Window is always open on the 2nd Monitor for convenience , Library too if I am using it...
  16. Yes I didn't play with that, I just looked at the 1.5" apart issue which I didn't think should be happening if the Separation was 0".... wasn't sure what look he was after for the rest...
  17. They normal do more Closer to the KBIS Show in Vegas , which is about a month away I think..... But you can signup for Beta if you want..... see the Announcements Forum for the Email address...
  18. 2GB according to the Dell page I found here : ( edit: 4GB according to Billy) https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln290703/the-hardware-specifications-for-the-precision-t3600-desktop-workstation?lang=en#Video It sounds like the issue some had with ATI Cards early last year but that was in X10 , I think a number bought Nvidia Cards to replace the ATI and had no further Issues. Luckily GPUs have dropped alot in Price since last year.....
  19. You just haven't forced the Windows together Bob... bump one frame against the next...... and see if the Mull looks better.... M. 23 Pleasant Family Room_MHD.plan
  20. Try Updating the Drivers perhaps..... Plan is fine here but I am running a Nvidia GPU and X10..... M.
  21. By adjusting the Fixture Specs to 17" you made the symbol almost 1/2 the size.....( 30" >17" ) hence it is 9" wide now not 15" approx...... (most toilets are about 15" wide at the Bowl) After making the BB 17" too, (BB squeezed in) it was 9" still so in the Fixture Specs DBX you need to set 17" again ....which would make it full size again. To Automate this......You would need to Edit ALL Chief's Toilets by copying them to your User Library and changing the BB to the Correct size , without the extra space Chief adds for Nth. Amer. Code requirements. Toilets are one of the few Symbols that the BB is not the actual size of the Fixture , Chief does this thinking that it helps Place the Toilet to meet Code Requirements in many US jurisdictions, I don't think they should do this myself as it confuses people. Try these : Toilets-TrueSize.calibz
  22. I don't think you tried too hard , a google search found this page pretty quick.... http://www.adobelite.com/technical.htm
  23. There is a difference between adjusting the SYMBOL Bounding Box size ( chair and pencil icon on edit ToolBar) as Robert suggested and adjusting the Fixture size by dragging the Bounding Box or using the Fixtures DBX to input sizes which is what I think you are doing. If you drag the Bounding Box that is 30" wide to 17" ( true size of Toilet?) or enter 17" in the Fixtures DBX it will no longer be the Correct size as seen in your 1st Pics above , as the Full size is controlled by the Symbol and it's assigned Bounding Box. With a 30" Bounding Box (BB) the Toilet is actually 50% smaller (approx.) at 15" if measured with point to point , so if you now drag the 30" BB to 17" you have effectively made the Toilet approx 50% smaller which is why in the 1st pics you are measuring it at 8 or 9" not 15" and it looks way too narrow. Toilets are one of the few Symbols that the BB is not the actually size of the Fixture , Chief does this thinking that it helps Place the Toilet to meet Code Requirements in many US jurisdictions, I don't think they should do this myself as it confuses people. 24. That's because in a Staircase with Risers CA doesn't actually build the Stringers as 2x Material it is just a hollow box , similar to Beams , joists etc , and the try to hid that fact. If you use Open-No Material for the Underside you will see what I mean..... the Stringer is just a Face..... Not sure why Ca doesn't allow us to use No Material in other situations , would be handy at times ......
  25. this seems to work fine for me except for Ridges , I had to change the Reporting to LVL as above pic for each one manually....I used the Materials List Find in plan Feature to find the Short ones..... wouldn't be needed if entire structure was LVL as the Ridge is using the Default material report value it seems.
