Absolute will work for them all , set it BEFORE rebuilding the Terrain - NOT after.... it won't "fix" the issue after the fact..... Absolute means they all measure from 0" ( top of subfloor usually) and will never move .....no matter what the Terrain height is which seems to be 17" below the Floor currently ? M.

Chief does Plinth Blocks, just not in this case below the door, but it's easily enough done with the Trim Symbol idea as I showed above .....it can be in the library and reused for every job though, unlike material regions etc. I did it above for the whole door but my guess is it would be easy enough to just make plinth blocks and the board between and set it to install below an opening too. Just explode the Arch. Block and make the top trim piece square on the ends ( instead of 10° as common here) or whatever size and shaped need , then reblock and make a new symbol. M.

did you look at the Framing in a CS Cam? or Framing View? isn't the Floor Joist and Rim joist cut out ? it would also seem from the pic that the Trim is below the Decking ? but that maybe just a height issue. ( ie raise/lower ) M.

You really haven't helped yourself with your description, most of us don't want to play 20 questions..... and you haven't posted the Layout for Comment or even any pictures of the Issue, ie: you need to help us help you in other words... However is sounds like you didn't send it to Layout at the right Scale ( 1/4" = 1 ft being typical ) , you can rescale the Layout views if so ..or send them again at the correct Scale. Make sure your Drawing Sheet Setup is correct and set to the right page size and scale and go from there.... for both Plan and Layout.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00725/defining-the-drawing-sheet-setup-for-printing.html M.

You may also be able to use the Room's Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling Setting for the T&G area...... Wall of Workshop made invisible here ( see Floor )

It's much easier since X11 to make symbols and many 3D objects can now be turned in Symbols with a click of the "make symbol Icon" on the edit Toolbar. These are just Polyline Solids placed around the Door ( 2x6,2x8) and grouped into an Arch. Block, then turned into a Millwork Symbol, the symbol was then adjusted to sit at the right height with it's Z axis set to a negative number , referenced off the (sub)Floor not the finished floor. Here's the Plan and symbol etc to Play with..... add them and the textures ( Fascia and Alum. sill ) to your library for re-use.... MHD_Ext. Door 36 Trim with Threshold.plan

A Door Symbol with the Trim, won't work as expected but if you make the Trim a Symbol ( Millwork ) and then set No Ext. Casing and No Threshold/Sill in the Exterior Door DBX ( or Defaults) you can add the symbol for the Trim from the Library, center it on the Door and then the Wall ( or adjust as needed) ......it is fairly quick, once you've made the Symbol of course ...... this Door is also set 1" off the Floor as mentioned in my post above. Cabinet settings to match Australian construction method
Kbird1 replied to Mark3D's topic in General Q & A
It's probably worth sending in as there does seem to be a difference between the metric and imperial templates eg set your Cabinets to Framed and the separation to 0mm and you get the Frameless look in Vector views ...though it's still not 100% the same as Frameless eg the top separation. not sure if the 3mm blank at the top was you or how it came in the metric template but that 3mm/1/8 blank is not normally there in the Imperial version.( not sure it effects anything either though) M. -
That's alright then , but I am unfortunately well aware of some of the work down by "Those Builders" M
-
You making Fun of us Builders ? I usually drop the Rim Joist lower ie use 2x12 at the stairs if 2x10 joists and add a 2x6 under the top tread between the stringers as well and attach it through that with Structural Screws, absolutely no toe nailing of stringers ever...that is asking for trouble.... Rob etc are correct, Chief doesn't do this Auto , UNLESS you raise the Door off the Subfloor Floor , then it adds one auto. Raising the Door off the Floor is not a real issue as Chief does not build Ext. Doors per the Real World ( RW) ie there is NO Sill taken into account in the height measurements , only the Top Jamb. ( 80 3/4") A STD Ext. Prehung Door is usually about 81 3/4" high +/- , so in Chief you can raise the door 1" +/- off the Floor to simulate a RW Sill/Threshold which are normally 1 1/2" - 1 3/4 " thick so the door Top is at 81 3/4" off the Floor ( RW) and you get the Auto Threshold appearing ...unfortunately we can't dictate that moldings size. ( ie like window sill aprons) Mick.

It stops for me as soon as I add a Ceiling Light........ When was the last time you redid you Chief Template Plan as this plan has no Saved Plan Views and they are been around for 2-3 version now.... You apparently don't have the latest version of X12 either as I have to agree to overwrite the file with a newer version when saved. Mick.

That was my thought as well above.... M.

If no lights are added manually Chief adds one to the center of the ceiling in the Room to light it automatically. M

Automatic vs. Custom Countertop Material List Area
Kbird1 replied to rwdozier's topic in General Q & A
The Automatic Counter Top only "sends" the Front Overhang to the ML ( 24"w x 25.5"d ) The Custom Counter Top Sends ALL overhangs to the ML (27" w x 27"d) M. -
There is some stuff on 3D warehouse , though not made by Moen https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search/?q=moen makes me wonder why Chief hasn't got a .rfa converter these days but there maybe Legal Issues? M.

always a good idea to Check the KnowledgeBase (FAQ) for Tutorials on stuff others have likely also asked about.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00547/creating-stairs-in-sloping-terrain.html https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 M.

I finally got round to looking at the Video ( 390) , it was made in X8 , so I think this particular functionality was probably lost in the Stairs Module rework in X11 or X12. However I have never seen in the real world it done at 90deg. the Stair Installer usually uses a Wye ( Y Turn) so the railing is continuous if needed for Code.

Perhaps you should of supplied the "This is what I want produced from the Start" and we would of said it can't be done auto... and you wouldn't be so frustrated.... I did mentioned, you will need to change some of the Framing manually as Chief will not frame that Automatically, eg move the bottom Plate of the railing wall up to be the double top plate and copy it for the one at the Roof surface. M.
-
It's in your settings somewhere, as the 3rd floor Option works for me ( pics below ) with the Roof Plane drawn over the 2nd floor wall , and snapped to the Interior side of the Solid Railing Wall . IF ? ( haven't opened your plan) you used Open Below on the 3rd Floor "Room" you won't get the Wall Framing generating as you want it too, instead set the Floor Finish and Structure on the 3rd floor to 0" and delete the material from the DBX. Leave Ceiling in , at least at 1st or the Trusses may not Draw as the need a ceiling and Roof plane to generate. Railing Walls do not appear to get the double top plate , so you will need to copy and drag the Top Plate down to double them up. etc.
