  1. ...was wondering if the X10 gurus have their plan templates set up with the new plan views in separate tabs? Or what the best practice might be for using that new 'plan view' tool?
  2. BRILLIANT (pun intended) - I think that was it. I had the automatic 8 light max checked. Unchecked and voila. THANK YOU very much.
  3. Thanks Mark but you are actually describing the problem. I have one and sometimes 2 of the under cabinet areas that light correctly 're-using' (copying) the light that works in to all 3 areas. One camera view will show the 2 areas lit as in the beginning of the video shows, then another camera view only shows the one area lit, but never all 3 at the same time. Were you able to view the vid or was your advice (much appreciated as always) just general PB Rendering advice?
  4. I sent this in to tech as I can't seem to get consistent results with some lighting in this plan when using the physically based render. NICE feature BTW but I wonder if there's something easy I'm missing? SOLVED - I had the default 8 light max limit checked in the camera. Unchecked and it works great. Thanks to Mark Mc physical rendering 1.zip
  5. Thank Mark - appreciate you taking the time.
  6. A bit confused with the terms...The way I understand it RayTracing requires a separate RayTrace command with its own settings and takes time or passes to come up with a result. And the 'Physical Rendering' is a setting or function of the 3D rendering engine within Chief. If that's correct are the pictures we are seeing here the results of a RayTraced Chief model? Or screen shots/pictures of a physically Rendered model? They look good either way and nice job but am curious as to what we are seeing. Thanks
  7. Ah found it - much appreciated. Also see how to adjust hue for the physically based cameras as well.Thank you
  8. I see different rendering techniques and an Ambient Occlusion slider but no real useful shading settings. Missing something or the feature has been changed?
  9. Thanks Michael When you say the settings live within the cameras themselves I assume I would right click the camera, open it and there are settings there? I THINK I can open the camera but see no settings that resemble the old ambient etc. Do the camera settings behave differently? And how would I lighten a scene in general that I used to lighten with the 'ambient' settings? Am I in the correct dbx to do so?
  10. I'm using the public Beta - pretty sure there's no NDA involved.
  11. ...like Interior Ambient, Daytime Ambient etc. Can't seem to find those settings in the familiar X9 location. Thanks
  12. Have no idea what that reference to X2 could be and I can see the Public Beta in my digital locker but can't find any kind of announcement for the Beta?
  13. I 'live with it' by just waiting for each 'undo'. Yeah that's me surfing in El Salvador a few years ago.
  14. Yeah I've been pretty deep down that rabbit hole myself...
  15. Beyond me as well but not everyone seems to have a problem judging by the comments above. For me? Major issue that I have just learned to live with, among quite a few 'major structural flaws'.
  16. That happens to me as well as I never know if the last undo has 'taken' or if I'm still waiting for it. Frustrating...
  17. I already have an EVO SSD for all my files and undo is a general problem for me, mostly with large files.
  18. Seems like a great feature to me. I would think one could set up a plan template with all the saved plan views ready to go and just switch between views for almost all of the design tasks. Layouts could be further set up and adjusted as well even though that's possible today. Just curious about others' view on this new feature.
  19. Good to know for future reference Mick - thanks.
  20. +1 Been using Chief for almost 20 years and it is, by far, the most difficult program I have ever tried to learn. Still do not understand many approaches Chief uses for its design approach but this simply comes down to how each of our brains tackle problems and looks for solutions. Chief looks in places I would not logically look but some people find its paradigms and solutions just great. Still the best program for my business but takes a very long time to fully learn - for me. Looking at your OP and your question about Chief being user friendly and to summarize my above diatribe. Yes Chief is user friendly - for some - and quite unfriendly for others, like myself.
  21. I have ALWAYS had issue with undo taking a very long time, especially when the plans get large. I have an associate with 2 M.2 drives run in RAID 0 and undos are very quick. Very slow on my system and very quick on his. Just sayin'. They supposedly made it quicker for (perhaps) X9? but I could tell no difference in length of undos.
  22. Much more like the Chief I know and love - thanks for the nice teaser. (Thanks to Chopsaw as well for the heads up.)
  23. I did see a couple changes but really want something I can use in my everyday work flow - not just more eye candy that does me no good at all.
