  1. I am starting out by purchasing the 55" curved monitor and see how things go with that. I was messing around with CA and found that opening a 3D view is where you see a jump in GPU. I also noticed that the new X15 grass plays a big role in slowing things down, so going to remove that (delete it or drag it off the terrain perimeter) as you cannot turn it off and show only the old terrain in X15. I realize that we can turn layers off in the 3D view to really help, but I guess that is my point, is there hardware, or faster and increased sizes that can speed things up with the layers left on?
  2. Just to add to an old thread in case someone wants to upgrade to a 3090 video card. TV's, even at 4k will not communicate with the 3090. I gave my 3090 to my son and put my 3080 back in so I can get things working again. We spent a lot of time testing and trying different settings trying to get it to work until we finally found out it was the 4k TV's. the 3090 wants true computer monitors to work. From reading this thread, I see that many of you have TV's and many have computer monitors. Just letting you know in case you purchase a 3090, you might not be able to get it working with TV's.
  3. Hi Chopsaw, are you saying that this SSD drive is thee component to help speed up CA operation despite the other components? I guess what I am asking is, I can have other really nice hardware, and should, but if my SSD is not the best it will not matter, or matter less what the other component are? Is this what you have found? - I did update my signature as I have 1TB M.2 980 PRO, etc.
  4. Thank you gentlemen for your comments! Right now with 2 flat monitors I feel like the last foot on the ends of each monitor are facing away or past me, and a curve would be a better use of space having all of it's space facing me. And also with the two monitors above which are typically used for email, scheduling and reference docs, are still cranking my neck to look up all the time. Thank you once again for your feedback.
  5. No 2 1/2" sata ssd. All 980 pro m.2 For anyone, I was just looking at CA's recommended specs. They recommend an i9, it seems to me that the processor pulls more weight for CA than the video card.
  6. My son has put together a new computer build for me, I would like to know what in this build would really boost CA performance. You can see my existing build in my signature. This monitor can be split into 4 individual monitors. It would be replacing my 4 cheap tv's I use now. I know curved isn't liked much by anyone other than gamers. Has anyone used a curved monitor? Current monitor setup. Reason for the upgrade, I am working on some bigger plans, and CA seems to drag a bit. Thank you, Steve.
  7. I am including my PBR backgrounds I use for interior renderings. https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/z15eJT4liKmKTv1Toap1 Library for PBR backgrounds https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u3Wk7Pm9xRPCtBv3aFvvAfYK6LOuxgrb/view?usp=sharing PBR Camera Settings.pdf
  8. I am including my grass colors and defaults that match with the spherical backgrounds. I am also uploading my backgrounds I use for interior PBR rendering https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/KcMeiyVXHOaRQQAG3UAM Library of spherical backgrounds https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n5mQpVbvKtdlIylN7ZoYDs33mI0WkLaV/view?usp=sharing Grass to Match Background.pdf
  9. I copied the link and pasted it into a new window and that worked
  10. I tried to download by clicking the button but nothing is happening. I tried in Chrome and in Brave browsers.
  11. Yeah, I found a number of ways to do what I wanted in the thread this is connected to, but I think they need to be able to paint wood grain on a soffit.
  12. Hello, I had updated my camera background images for X15 and was waiting for X15 to come out to share them. What I figured out was how to make a much wider image so I could add a lake on one side and land on the other. So if you have a house with a lake in the rear, now when you look at the house from above or from inside, the lake will be behind and the land in front. Short video to show it... https://myplan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/nOuKYb9v Library included for X15 Backgrounds.calibz
  13. This is brilliant! I'm going to mess with this now. I know that we can add moldings to the soffit. I just did not think about this. Thank you
  14. Here is another garage door of what I would call a more traditional or standard door you purchase at your local lumberyard. Some without glass that you assemble as a garage door type and enter the number of panels, and others with glass on the top row which are fully assembled. With this drawing file you could now make a 12' wide by 12' high storage building overhead door with a row of windows in one of the rows. See the video below for the steps. The garage doors library's are included - X15 Here is the drawing file - X15 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u7ES5MODk163kQgu8QaQvs1Nnz1CLKkx/view?usp=share_link Give me a like if you download Thank you, Steve Traditional Garage Doors Double.calibz Traditional Garage Doors Single.calibz
  15. As we all know, there are limited garage doors in Chief... A lot of them! Just not what we need. I plan on making more of the standard doors also. These are some of the common doors we use here in West Michigan from Clopay or similar. I am including my drawing where I made the doors if you want to make your own and/or expand on the drawing. I am also including my Library of these garage doors. Link to the drawing file - X15 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CzPT2ofEA8nbzTSrq84sTzHaokrgdFXv/view?usp=share_link Link to the Library - X15 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f1XCRJamNBeSX2FtzcGjorwdp2E5TTQm/view?usp=share_link Let me know what you think. Are these helpful? Give me a like if you download credit to Eric - EricOnChiefArchitect
  16. I wanted to add this here for anyone wanting to make beams and have the grain run with the beam on all side - even for Arcs
  17. Here is that first house I did when I started. This is a new rendering I did tonight. I used Pathtracer on it. But I also brought it into PhotoShop because while the shadows were good on the house, they were lost in the grass. So I exported both PT and Normal and overlaid them into PS where I brought the grass out a bit from the Normal image. It may not be perfect, but honestly, again I like when it has a bit of artsy character over photorealistic. I must say I like how the glass looks. Perhaps if I think it doesn't quite make the realistic agenda, I would prefer to lean to make it obvious that it is a rendering. I am very happy to have accomplished what I have in the short time I have been finding time, mainly on weekends to work on this.
  18. One is the fog. I seen some documentation the other day of the list of thing Path Tracer does not offer yet, but they're working on it. I have been making my own map textures using PixPlant 5 and photoshop to fine tune some things, and it has done a lot to improve things. Not happy with some so will continue to improve them. I want to thank you again for the videos you did some time back as you were learning TM, that was actually a nice way to learn things. I do still mess with the Path Tracer just trying to see if I can pull it off, but I am super busy at the moment designing homes so trying to produce a rendering where I complete my new website. I am enjoying working with TM, especially since I purchased some nice trees, and will continue to fine tune my process as anyone would do. Thank you Steve
  19. This one is straight out of Twinmotion... I used the same template but moved the sun to the right and moved a few trees. Not bad for an old fart. I started in on this adventure the week of Christmas. A few days ago I was about to give up because I just wasn't getting what I wanted. I'm glad I stuck with it.
