  1. It does not appear to evaluate.
  2. begin result = owner.label rescue result = referenced.label end result
  3. I should probably know this but brain dead today.
  4. I use solids for steel columns often. If I over ride the solids Label is there a way to use a leader text to show the solids label?
  5. So here in Florida we are not allowed to have a shower drain below flood elevation. I show a 4" drop shower in the master bath. Yes the drain is below flood elevation but the house floor is 1" above base flood elevation. My contention is that the house would need to flood before the shower drain can receive water from the flood waters. Your thoughts?
  6. Just starting on this one but I'll use trusses on the roof. Steel & trusses on the balconies. Still fighting the terrain:)
  7. Thanks for the help. Brian said this: I was able to reproduce this issue and I have logged a report in our database. The problem with placing the niche in 3D seems related to the thickness of the wall. For some reason it doesn't work once the wall becomes greater than 22" thick. You should be able to place in 2D though, but your case this is complicated by the windows on the top of the wall. You could work around this by changing the Vertical Stacking level of the windows in that wall. Doing this will allow you to place the niche in plan view.
  8. I can place the niche in any other wall, no problem.
  9. OK changed the Main layer to Framing / ticked the box that is & no it will not place it. Changed the Main layer to Framing Wood, that also failed. I'll try tech support.
  10. Oh I did & it will not place in that wall.
  11. Does a wall have to have framing to build a wall niche?
  12. That is a screen capture form a google search. But I have seen some views similar that were done in Chief, Michael did it if I remember correctly.
  13. Back to manual framing & simplified the framing somewhat. 2x12 for the horizontal portion & post for the vertical portion. BTW Doug, the outside corner is hanging from the balcony trusses above. Simpson straps & plywood glued & nailed will hold up the decorative wall element. Thanks All.
  14. Thanks Larry but the room method is full of issues. Part of the problem is that the pop out is 12" higher than the house floor. I raised the floor & made the floor 12" thick and it is close to the configuration desired. Those issues might be easy to clean up but are a aggravating.
  15. So for the wall you would use 3 walls to make the vertical element. And just keep the horizontals I already have?
  16. Thanks The post worked & I think the simplest method.
  17. I've not used these very often, but I wanted to frame a pop-out which is outside of the building envelope. I can drag the horizontal framing members but Chief does not want to do vertical members. Maybe there is an easier way?
  18. Nice Steve, that's thinking outside of the box!
  19. Thanks Tina (my mothers name) Very generous of you!
  20. Nice tip on the elevation date being picked up.
  21. I am trying to put wood slats over a stucco wall (client request) In vector view of the wall I want to be able to fade the lines of all the slats. What is the best way to handle this?
  22. Many threads on this subject. As I remember it has to do with the font you are using.
  23. Here is one for $3.00 https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-model-clark-razor-large-bowl/635372
