I can place the niche in any other wall, no problem.
-
OK changed the Main layer to Framing / ticked the box that is & no it will not place it. Changed the Main layer to Framing Wood, that also failed. I'll try tech support.
-
Oh I did & it will not place in that wall.
-
Does a wall have to have framing to build a wall niche?
-
That is a screen capture form a google search. But I have seen some views similar that were done in Chief, Michael did it if I remember correctly.

Back to manual framing & simplified the framing somewhat. 2x12 for the horizontal portion & post for the vertical portion. BTW Doug, the outside corner is hanging from the balcony trusses above. Simpson straps & plywood glued & nailed will hold up the decorative wall element. Thanks All.

Thanks Larry but the room method is full of issues. Part of the problem is that the pop out is 12" higher than the house floor. I raised the floor & made the floor 12" thick and it is close to the configuration desired. Those issues might be easy to clean up but are a aggravating.

So for the wall you would use 3 walls to make the vertical element. And just keep the horizontals I already have?
-
Thanks The post worked & I think the simplest method.
-
I've not used these very often, but I wanted to frame a pop-out which is outside of the building envelope. I can drag the horizontal framing members but Chief does not want to do vertical members. Maybe there is an easier way?

I am trying to put wood slats over a stucco wall (client request) In vector view of the wall I want to be able to fade the lines of all the slats. What is the best way to handle this?
-
Many threads on this subject. As I remember it has to do with the font you are using.

So for the macro to be used as Room Name it will need a custom Field or repurpose an existing field. Just wanted to be clear here.

Thanks You Sir.

Yes, looks like Chief know which is the interior side then adds / plus the exterior side room.

When a window is adjacent to a balcony that name is appended. Any way to trim that off, see W8 & W9
-
Good Idea. This is what I have so far.
-
Duh, wish I had thought of that! A little awkward on the plans. But I'm off to try it.

So when we are late in the project & the client wants to add windows I do not want to reorder the schedule. It would be great is we could have W14 and new W14a or W14.1 so the windows call outs don't change down stream of W14. This causes confusion for any take offs done by the GC or window supplier. Any way to deal with this?

Gene, One million+ dollars seems too good to be true. I've only done plans for 7 stories. So 12 is out of my comfort zone. Hope you find someone. This project never happened, the 7 story was dropped & changed to 4 story over a parking garage. That too failed to be built due to cost.
