  1. I have a 6" drop ceiling with holes. But I want the perimeter to jump up 6" to the original ceiling. Problem is the ceiling vertical plane does not build. See photo. I tried putting a hole there but it just trims the original ceiling polyline. I have windows that finish at the top ceiling line, so I can not have the hole inside the main drop ceiling. Any suggestions? Thanks
  2. How do you deal with these unwanted lines in vector view?

  5. So did you see this article? https://www.finehomebuilding.com/forum/how-would-you-frame-this-cornice-return or this: https://countryplans.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=4f6426e5c2f5513d904b33535b7d0985&msg=168180 Or this? https://www.thisiscarpentry.com/2013/12/13/eave-returns-interpreting-gyhr-details/
  6. If the change is very minor it would be better to modify the CAD file using CAD. Else try this: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00170/using-cad-to-walls-from-an-imported-dwg-dxf.html
  7. Thanks That's where I'm at.
  8. Any way to do this with wall framing? The window is at the ceiling line so the header/beam must be in the floor framing above.
  9. Well had it turned on but wasn't using it . Thanks for the tip.
  10. Anyone want to recommend an add on for Windows 10 to enhance the clipboard found in Windows? I would like to save multiple copies of mostly text. When I'm in the framing plan or foundation plan I find myself printing the same notes over & over. I have gravitated to Chief Note call-outs but I like having the text at the location, not a lookup number.
  11. Thanks for that Glenn & Perry. I corrected the post above.
  12. Thanks for the link Glenn. Perry. Sorry about that
  13. Justin How did you do the seamless glass railing? I'm working on a modern style too.
  14. Yea this is a weird one. The max height is 30 feet above flood and a 7 foot vent stack would break that by 4 feet. Great suggestions though. I may have to do some roof area just for the vent.
  15. Working on a house where the entire roof of the main house is a roof terrace. Can you suggest a code approved location for the single 3" vent stack? I have looked at the code but nothing but a vent 7 feet tall above the roof deck works. And it can not be in the Daylight plane for the local restrictions.
  16. That was the trick I was looking for. Thanks I now have a new Dens-Glass material & made some new wall types. AmberBock time here.
  17. Thanks for the info. I need drywall on the other 2 floors so I will rename backer board, I think.
  18. On the 1st floor I want to use "Dens-Glass" in place of Drywall for room schedule. How do I add that to the plan or rename Green board so mu schedule display correctly? Thanks
  19. I typically just trace over the CAD lines when creating a Chief Model. It's very fast as long as you have Chief set up with the wall types, doors & windows a you want them.
  20. First place I'd look is the wall DBX
  21. I think so. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01019/managing-and-creating-line-styles.html
