  1. Anyone know what is causing the missing exterior wall? Plan file attached Main House Issues.zip
  2. Thanks folks. I should have remembered it needed to be a global variable. Sorry. Yes Eric, Mtext is an Autocad Term & Rtext is my short hand for Rich Text. You can't beat the Autocad out of me after 22 years of use.
  3. I have a macro ffe_data with this: [Evaluate / None] ffe_house = "24.0' FFE NAVD88" ffe_2nd_Floor = "23.5' FFE NAVD88" ffe_garage = "23.9' FFE NAVD88" ffe_porch_1 = "23.5' FFE NAVD88" ffe_porch_2 = "23.5' FFE NAVD88" ffe_stoop = "23.5' FFE NAVD88" ffe_grade_1 = "22.5' FFE NAVD88" ffe_grade_2 = "22.5' FFE NAVD88" "" I want to use rtext to display th value of ffe_garage. What is the syntax to display the value of that variable? Thanks PS I think someone already told me how years ago but I must have forgotten.

  6. Thanks, I've been through many a hurricane in my 70+ years in Florida. I'm at 97' MSL & have hurricane shutters.
  7. I have been adding this decal to my foundation plan. Just thought you may be interested. What is 811? 811 is the national call-before-you-dig phone number. Anyone who plans to dig should call 811 or go to their state 811 center’s website a few business days before digging to request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags so that you don’t unintentionally dig into an underground utility line. 811 protects you and your community! Hitting a buried line while digging can disrupt utility service, cost money to repair, or cause serious injury or death. Always contact your 811 center, wait the required time for utilities to respond to your request, and ensure that all utilities have responded to your request before putting a shovel in the ground. https://call811.com/811-In-Your-State Call 811.calibz
  8. First welcome to the forum. Second take a few minutes to update your forum signature to display what version of Chief you are using. Third, there are several folks her that do one on one training.. It will go a long way getting you started. Fourth as the software evolves some of the video's & help info may be a little behind theses changes. Fifth post a plan file when seeking specific answers. Make sure to close the plan file before posting or it will be an empty file. That said the learning curve is a bit steep at first but you will reap rewards from you study. Read read read. I prefer the videos as they revel all sorts of good technique if you pay attention. Good luck..
  9. Is that Mango Tree near the pool?
  10. I have text position set to "Center on Dim Line". When the text does not fit where is the setting for that offset?
  11. In elevation use the rotate function Else select the receptacle & open the Symbol Dialog
  12. I don't have it ether but you can rotate then in elevation view or in plan view select & use the Open Symbol and rotate on the Y axis
  13. Nice job, did you build the bar joist or is that modified Chief Truss?
  14. Not Florida for sure, Austin Texas.
  15. Current project has a detached garage and a sloped site. The owner wants to raise the main house by 12". Currently the main house first floor is at zero. Should I lower the site & garage by 1 foot? I have had trouble moving the house vertically in the past as some objects are tied to absolute elevation. Are there any tricks to change all the site & elevation lines down one foot?
  16. I turned the walls to visible, in 3D I pulled the wall top down, turned them invisible again & rebuilt the rafters via roof DBX.
  17. What I have been doing is a plan file for each unique unit. Once the shell, interior walls & basic cabinets are done I create a combined plan file for building plan view & building elevations. Then I flush out the separate unit plans with electrical, plumbing, framing. The gotcha is if you need to change the exterior at all, it becomes a tedious job.
  18. That;s a nice little nugget. Thanks
  19. Thanks Michael, great detective work. I see the border set at 30 which is what I want for borders. But why is the leader using that number?
  20. Thanks for looking at this. This plan file creates leaders at 30 with the line weight default unchecked. I have opened the leaders & checked default to get them to default line weight. Leaders I create come in at 30 with default unchecked. I can't figure out why. If you create a new leader is the default line weight checked?
  21. I Know How To Fix It, I want to know why it was created at an override line weight of 30?
  22. I have a plan attached that when I draw a leader Rich text the leader has an override line weight of 30. Can anyone tell me where the 30 line weight setting is coming from? Untitled 1.zip
