  1. I've had some success with selecting the 'Save as PDF' option and then switching to my HP print. It then seems to hold that dpi, although I have a different HP printer (same problem). I was able to resolve that issue with a new driver. That said I continue to have a very difficult time printing directly to my HP 110 with X7 and Windows 8.1. It's quirky enough that it's better to go to PDF first--too many bad prints (cut off portions of page, drop outs).
  2. I would cut the roof around the bay and add a poly solid to patch the roof hole. You may need another solid to patch the ceiling. Not perfect but it will get the job done.
  3. The shingle pattern is defined via the material's dialog box. Go to the shingle material's pattern tab and change the line color to light grey. It will then show in elevation as light grey. The same is true for your siding--set the pattern in it's material dialog box. When you send to layout you should uncheck 'Use Line Edge Defaults' and Use Pattern Line Defaults' to allow the material definitions to determine the colors and allow the specified layer set definitions to show on the layout page. With those box checked it's a flat drawing using only the two line weights specified in those two check boxes.
  4. I'm havimg the same library issue. Another related problem is my main screen never opens to the correct screen size. It's larger than the desktop area so the status bar is below the Windows task bar. I have to maximize CA each time. Both problems appeared after the last update.
  5. I'm not on a Mac, but I get equally frustrated trying to get my work done in Chief. Having a 3D view open on the second monitor makes everything painfully slow. My computer is 2 years old (a dinosaur) and I'm running a 780 GTX. It shouldn't be a problem. Something is just not right.
  6. I'm glad you brought this up. The text issue is a real stumbling block. I copy a lot of text for formatting purposes and miss the text opening as highlighted.

    Logging in

I am using 3 devices and have to log in each time I change devices. This morning I had to re-log into CT on my laptop which was the last device I used to visit CT. My password is remembered on all my devices so it's not a big deal to re-log in (just annoying). On the other hand, it's hardly secure if my password is remembered. So how is this a security feature? This set up is more of a compromise to my Digital Locker. I also don't want to log in when I change devices.
  8. To get it to 'look' like an X6 file you can do a couple of things: 1. Import all f your X6 defaults into the plan, 2. Copy/ paste hold the entire plan into an empty X6 template plan. This is probably the best approach. A little housekeeping before you copy/paste the plan into the X6 template will make the process go smoother. Clean up the old plan layers, purge the materials, and any unused wall types. Set up the template plan with the correct floor/ceiling defaults to match the old plan and it should move over fairly well.
