two approaches. two totally different looks. Two really good renders!

Good Stuff!

I also have a slow response when selecting things in the DBX. And also a slow down in performance. Just opened an X6 plan and it definitely behaves differently than when I was working on it in X6.

You tube is an option but I think after playing it dumps the user into it's own screen. With converting and adjusting in Move Maker I can decrease the file size and increase the speed. I am getting better and using less compression (40%) and more frames (30). It creates a huge avi but when converted, speed adjusted and saved again the file size comes down and I get a walk through at a good speed and SMOOTH. I then have a file I can control, send to customers, use on my web site etc. And it is all under my control. I wish Chief had other options besides avi and some tools to make adjustments. But, it can't be all things for all people. And stairs come first! ;o)

Thanks Greg!

email on it's way!

Jintu - looks great! I especially like that there is no SNOW outside! ;o)

Justin, Is Lumion one of the products you are using? Personally I do not like/find value in the floor plan shots. I think they take away from the presentation. I would keep it all movie/renderings. My .02. ;o) On 2nd look I think I would brighten up the crown just a touch to help it stand out. Nit-picking......

Different Pulls On Split Door Wall Cabinet
Dennis_Gavin replied to Christina_Girerd's topic in General Q & A
I thought I posted already but it is not showing. If you make one set drawers instead of doors you can get the same look and use different pulls. You won't have opening indicators/door handing but the renders will look right. -
Looks great! Love the bump on brick and shingles. Is the brick texture from chief or elsewhere?
-
Mike - Yes, I also use a white wall. Sometimes do that for porches also. I think the adjustment in elevation view might be what I need. Thanks for the feedback!
-
Mike G - I looked at your plan. I was having problems getting the windows that tight together even though I selected no trimmers or framing. Mine bounced back and would not stay that tight. Don't know how you got it to work. DId you do it in X6 or X7? I am using X7. Mike - Hudson Valley - Yep!

Trying to get a real looking bay window and am having fits. Did a search of the forums but nothing. (may have to go to old forums) the help file mentions an option to connect outer casing but I cannot find it anywhere when I open the window dbx or for the individual windows. I know this has been brought up in the past but can't find the posts. (so what's new) Any help appreciated. THIS ITEM NEEDS MAJOR WORK!

I only give correct answers. Perry gives more correct answers. He is more generous than I am! ;o)

I think you just need to be on the 2nd floor and manually draw your walls. I=Use the reference icon to toggle on the floor below so you can see where the lower walls are.
-
Basically yes. One variation is to remove or zero out height for room and then draw one molding polyline and assign molding to that.

Why Am I Having Trouble With 3D Rendering?
Dennis_Gavin replied to michellejensen7's topic in General Q & A
right click on your desktop and look for a menu item referencing your video card. You have to open it and in one of the tabs it will have an option to associate it with certain programs. These(my) instructions are general you will have to work your way through what you see. -
IT depends on how you want to modify them. The symbol itself can't be modified but it you want to add something to it I think you can place the item(s) where you want them and then convert to symbol in a 3D view.

Greg - heading out with the wife. I'll check back later. Any chance you can do a quick video showing your step by step on how you are getting your results?
-
Not working for me. I tried having the stairs just meeting the edge of the landing as well as drawing with a ull tread bearing on the landing but it just flairs the end out with a curve.
-
As I mentioned in a post above, didn't we have a problem with saving plans when x6 first came out? BIG delay. It would seem that whatever the problem was for that could be the same thing here.
-
Greg - I can flare them but not straight sides from top to bottom. I can only get curves.
-
Greg - I just did a quick straight path in your plan and I still get the jump up at what I think is the wall. How did you not get that?? Do you think the difference has to do with the MAC version?
-
Greg, I made a new opening with std stairs with and without the pad and had no problems. It seems the walls used to create the flared stairs is the problem. I don't know why your path with the walls is no problem. interesting. Also, there is only 1" difference from my pad to yours. I have been playing with different settings for feet per second etc. and also adjusting things in movie maker. Often I have to open and save with any video converter when using the xvid codec as I get skewed images.

Here is my camera shot. Not sure what angle yours was taken from. I did not make it from a terrain feature. MAybe that would help. Also, there is a jump at the top of the stairs to the deck surface.
