  1. yes, as long as soffits are checked, if you don't want soffits make them an air space material.
  2. For me its better to lower the top plate to get a full bearing than to chop up the rafter, kind of what his picture show's when using a 2x10 or 12. I've been called on that before. 2x12 to a 2x4 eave is just too much mustard off the hotdog.
  3. Hey, Glen vacations, not me.
  4. HEY Brian, Are you close by? what city? Yes, you now need more forms, but calc's are not needed for window change-outs, just the prescriptive method (forms) are ok at least around here.
  5. I actually like Windows 8 and having a lot of fun with it. I'm not afraid of moving on.
  6. We do get the big bucks here, but is it really worth the pounding you take every day ?????? I get enough pounding from my wife, do I really need more.

  10. I just keep a ton in my template plan so they are already there when I start a new plan and they are already sent to the layout
  11. Here are some energy notes I put on every plan, calc's or not, seems to work around here.
  12. Scott- No floor space and no volume add- no calc's required, but you must still follow all mandatory measures and min u- value and SHGC. Of course the building official can do anything they want. Then you can fight it by having them call the Calif. Energy Comm. hotline 1-800-772-3300. If you have any questions, they will always have the correct answer. Give them a call as things are changing every day b/c not everyone is up to date on the code including myself. As you know I stopped doing them to free myself up and really haven't learned the new program yet. Your deal really doesn't make since to me at all.
  13. PT slabs are usually the same as regular slab foundations, except with the tension bars, and the footings can be smaller in most cases. Are you asking how to model them?
  14. Sometimes "split lower wall" etc doesn't work every time for me and I also have to check "pony wall"
  15. I had a pdf recently flip when printing. It looked good on the layout but when I printed to pdf, it flipped backwards. I opened the original pdf and saved it again in Adobe, then it was ok.Not sure what happened.
  16. I always start out using the Auto build roofs, then turn it off and go from there.
  17. Thanks, Scott, another in depth study. Informative for sure
  18. I have noticed that a lot of guys saying there is a slowdown are using Xeon processors, not saying that's it , just strange.
