No savings for you, I paid mine a long time ago. remember if you are a beta tester and drawn some plans , you can't go back
  2. I don't think dual Zeon's will help you, Larry Hawes has dual Z's and he has some speed problems, but what do I know. You could try turning off things as you work on the plan. They say X9 will speed things up a bit. The new nvidia1080 video card is the best at the moment. I would also go for the latest CPU you can afford. I have a pretty good system and a very large plan will slow it down a bit. It's like buying a bag of grocery's, what's in it is what counts. The cost is all about what's in it. What's in the plan says it all for some speedy work.

Chief might show it at the IBS but not release it then. You never know.
  4. Unfortunately our California templates and notes wouldn't help you, they would just laugh. we work under our own codes.
  5. Guess what--new codes, 2016 CRC, started for California as of yesterday, lots of new stuff in all 10 code books, thousands of pages, take you time and read all of them.
  6. I took a couple of all day classes when I acquired Chief, that was all it took. Even though it costs some money, it really saved me lots of heartache. Also Scott Hall took me under his wing ,with workarounds, he caught on faster than I. (you needed them back in Ver. 10). Thanks Scott, I still owe you
  7. You should also add to what Joey says with callouts, cad, Dimensions.
  8. I use that tool all the time, but I guess you could just select the roof planes too.
  9. You know Scott Hall put over a 1000 videos up on David's site (Chief tutor), are they still there?
  10. Hey, you guys left out the multiple pages of California Green codes. And since when did I become a landscape Architect.
  11. If you open Chief's "D" size layout from the template / imperial / arch d size, then open the project browser and look at the way Chief has their layout pages, it's a good start. in fact, you could use that one and modify how you want it, but make a copy first.. There are lots of standard notes in the lib under cad, but they are very standard, look and see if they work for you.
  12. Thanks for the info. It's turning out like I thought it would. Leaving it up to each city will not be good for anyone.
  13. I like the layout box labels and b/c my template layouts are done, I don't think about them.
  14. Thank you sir, hey, you aren't so bad. I do hear you.
  15. for me---save some money for the rainy day, b/c it will happen, maybe 2 or 3 times in your lifetime
  16. Every software program has some problems, Don't try to make Chief like other software, just the way you like it. I can tell you that will never happen--ever. You should learn Chief as it is meant to be used. It works great for me. Any issue I might have is some functionality issues, and hope Chief will fix it, but they don't have to. I can find an answer for every so called problem. I love this program. Greg Wells is a great guy, I have met and spent some time with him. Your conspiracy theory's won't work here. I have requested many things that Chief has fixed, and I believe they will in the future. It just takes time and there are only so many hours in a day.
  17. To get those 2nd floor walls to balloon frame and the floor joists to hang off the walls just select the 2nd floor walls that apply, and check "Go through floor below"
  18. I don't think you can legally. Chief owns it. They have to buy Chief first. send them a backup full plan with all the textures.
  19. I always have a floor in the crawlspace, but it is really a dirt texture 1/16" thick, so I can adjust it like Scott shows. Don't do many full basements. Looks good in sections and 3d also.
  20. It would also help if, when you lose room definition for some time, not sure how long that is., the room wouldn't revert back to the default once set to other than default.
  21. The 940m is better than what you are using (newer)
