Or change your arrow size so that they don't get in the way.

Because you only changed the material pattern size which displays in vector views. You need to also change the materials texture size which displays in a standard (rendered) view.

Tommy, No need to use a separate molding polyline for each rail. You can stack multiple moldings on the one molding polyline AND control the "verticality" of the ends. Add another line section to each end of the polyline and uncheck Molding on Selected Edge for those line sections. You can then tilt them to control the vertical angle at the railing ends, like this: http://screencast.com/t/eo1uGzesnfTH

Could it be that you are placing your camera outside of the terrain. When you do the camera view, the terrain may take the 3 seconds to rebuild, but then the terrain skirt is hiding your foundation. I can't open your plan because I don't have access to Chief at the moment, so this is just a wild guess. Try placing the camera inside the terrain.

Johnny, Doesn't the floor default setting do what you are asking. Set your floor defaults to match that large room (or whatever you want). Then just set each room to use the default - which it should do automatically unless the default is unchecked and changed on a room by room basis.
-
Jeez, I am going to miss communicating with you guys in real time!
-
Scott, How about I share them with you as I wasn't able to look at the plan (no Chief), so mine was a guess. Larry, There should be no need to build framing.
-
Larry, I agree, see my previous post.
-
The blank floor areas are usually caused by the Build Platform To setting in the wall def dbx. There should be no reason why you can't use that wall def, as long as the above settIng is set tO the correct wall layer.

Larry, When can I expect my prize?
-
Michael, I just approached it directly from what the OP posted -can Chief do automatic wall framing production details and automatic cut lists. The answer to both questions is yes - unless the original question is further qualified.
-
Michael, That was sneaky. You threw in panel optimisation which wasn't mentioned by the OP. He asked for framing production drawings and cut lists - both of which Chief can do automatically. And yes, Chief isn't Solidbuilder, so you should expect Chief to do it differently. Duckbill4375 and Michael Chief can do auto framing and produce an auto wall framing detail which you can edit if needed. Best to have a look in the manual to save me explaining. Chief can also do cut lists in association with the Materials List. There is a setting in Defaults where you can set it up and customize the output. Once again, search for cut lists/buy lists in the manual, or go straight to the defaults and look for the appropriate section.

Michael, Chief does a pretty good job of doing wall framing details and cut lists automatically. Where do you see the problems?
-
Arrrrgh! I wish I had Chief to play with. Probably not a bug, just the way Chief handles roofs, rooms, walls, etc. There will be a solution that will work. Probably to do with a room definition, wall definition, etc. But, without Chief, I am flying blindfolded. In Larry's vid, as he dragged the ridge, it looked like it was approaching the deck level above.
-
Larry, I still don't have acces to Chief, so I can't have a play. But, could it have anything to do with the HEIGHT of the roof? As you drag the roof ridge back, don't forget that the ridge is also getting higher and may be interfering with something else, maybe the deck? To test, try dropping the roof a bit and then drag the ridge back again. Just a guess

Thickened Structural Condition for Spiral Strairs
glennw replied to chiefhandle's topic in General Q & A
You should be able to use the stair tool to build the stair OK. I would then have a play with the Ramp tool to build the stringer wall and railing. Then join the 2 together. -
Mono foundation slab, need edge at framing. How?
glennw replied to GeneDavis's topic in General Q & A
Gene, If I read your post correctly, you haven't created a foundation floor. I think you are making a fundamental mistake that no one has mentioned. I really don't think that you should be making your level 1 walls into foundation walls. You would be better off building an auto mono slab foundation which will create a level zero containing your foundation. Ignore this if it doesn't make sense as I don't have access to Chief to try things out. -
From memory, because I don't have access to Chief at the moment. I think that you may be confusing 2 different terrain tools. One is called a terrain elevation region (or similar) whose height you can adjust. The other is just a flat area that modifies the terrain without any height data. I believe that you can change a polyline into a terrain elevation region, but not into a flat area.

Joe, This came up in one of the one on one training sessions that I sat in on.
-
Russ, Don't forget that if you still can't get the walls to join correctly, we have that "adjust wall layers a junction" thingy tool to edit the wall layers to get exactly what you want. Sorry, I don't have access to Chief and can't remember the name of the tool - accessed from the Edit toolbar.
-
Rob, This just came up at the UGM. You could try using an invisible ramp with the rail you want and then place it on top of your sloped wall.
-
Wendy, I use jing also and usually don't have any problems viewing my own or others vids. Do I need a username and password? I will keep trying.
-
Hey Wendy, I would love to see your videos, but I can't access them. I am on an iPad and therefore can't use flash player-is there another way to view them? I usually don't have any troubles viewing vids done with jing and posted to Screencast. Any ideas?

Joe, I would be interested to see how you macros handle those complicated floor level situations like complicated split and multilevel houses. As you know we can draw a room on one floor and assign it a floor level that equates its height the equivalent of drawing it on another floor. If your macros are only recognizing areas by a certain height increment, will they be able to cope with those sorts of situations? Or will they only work with standard type floor levels. Ie, it sounds like your macros will find and total floor levels within fixed 3M high levels?

Ross, It could be your Window Level setting in the windows dbx.
