  2. Are you open to freelance? I am taking on new work in 2022 and am a big power user(which often means that the workload cannot keep up with my efficiency). I've been working remotely for over a decade now and also train offices in this software, both in group settings and in pre-recorded production drafting videos. Contact me at renerabbitt@gmail.com
  3. I personally use only a single default set(current naming of annotation sets) I use macros I use text styles I do not use Rich Text The full explanation of this work flow would take some time to explain, and Steve will do a fine job diving into it.
  4. I should not be responding to this but only a few of our macro gurus respond to stuff nowadays. Assume that I may be completely wrong, I am not familiar with using the correct terminology I believe in X-13 they built in a custom classification for anything that would be considered a dimension. Which means to use an area macro you may have to convert it to a float. by using .to_f
  5. @rgardner and @MarkMc Bet you could figure out what I did..maybe it should be challenge #5 211124.mp4
  6. Revit can be a challenge for someone inexperienced in export. DWG works, sometimes I use sketchup to import from revit than re-export for chief. The import/export functions of chief are pretty straightforward. I would not import a 3d model from revit, I would budget for redesigning the model from revit in Chief and conforming the changes as you go. Often times I will use sketchup as a landing point when working with architects. Revit doesnt play nice for collaborative work the same way that Chief does not. They are BIM/BIM based so true collaboration isn't possible without either party simply working in the software of choice. Bigger question is what specifically do you need to provide for such clients?
  7. If you post your .plan file I can take a look, helpful if you use the backup option with referenced material files
  8. Can you please take a screenshot of the dbx at 3d/Lighting/Adjust Lights/ so we can see if the problem is your light sets.
  9. Just wanted to point out that the two renderings are not comparable as you are not utilizing light sets. One image does not have the pendants turned on.
  10. I didn't spend any time explaining some of the details of this cabinet so I can add them here as an FYI. Also, thank you. My cabinet can be resized, it will simply resize unlocked components just like any cabinet. My cabinet can be turned into a style pallet. You can apply any doors you want to my cabinet, so you can make different arched doors quickly using the method I showed in the first couple of minutes of the video and apply it. You can apply different drawers. Half of the video was creating the drawers. Once they are complete, no need to recreate them. If you need new custom arched cabinet box and panels, should take about 3 minutes when coupled with the style pallet created from the original cabinet. See vid. 211122 (9).mp4
  11. POST 38 Part of the Fun Community Challenge #4 Download this cabinet symbol HERE Take a look at how it was created here: CLICK ME TO GO BACK TO THE INDEX!!!
  12. I purchased this as well...I haven't looked at it yet...but I would never let Michael's tools pass me buy
  13. Yes, but not within chief. you can create a macro that will do a continuation of ctrl+e and a bunch of tabs. have you considered changing your preferences to open up to the last panel. Not in front of a computer right now.
  14. Hey old timer, It's really easy to organize and use the SAM method when holding a bunch of schedules in CAD. Not to mention you can have those schedules sent to layout already, which is also easier to do when they are in a placeholder position such as a CAD detail. For your revisions, easy to put together a custom revision note and a schedule. Give me a call and I can send my template your way, you might love it or may hate it.
  15. I'll be giving a ton away to the winners of this challenge:
  16. FYI I didnt need the sig..it was in the screenshot, and 128gb is too small for modern OS IMO
  17. For sure, happy to help. My laptop screen just broke and I am running on a laptop from 2016, the G752 in my signature. It runs beautifully except for line over drawing in rendering views. I think your machine is fine for a few more years then maybe upgrade the video card only.(After you've upgraded the drive)
  18. Ive had flooding at my place, moved out, and left my mic behind by accident. @HumbleChief and @cjanderson66 "Example" is a P-solid that I converted to a fixture and then designated as a freestanding range. It is 200" tall, 1" depth, and 12" wide and is a few inches AFF. The key element is specifying it as a range in the symbol options. Then: I clicked on the exterior room and created a polyline Converted the polyline to a distributed path, selected the range. Specified 15" intervals for a 3" Batten(12" symbol) Then I copied the path to the floor above Pull a 3d view and explode the lower distributed path. With the Backsplash Tool, clicked on the spaces between on the lower floor first. Explode the upper, click on the spaces on the upper floor. Dragged the bottom of the upper floor up Use the Delete Items Tool and select fixtures. Please keep in mind this is not perfect. You could get it perfect by breaking the line segments of the distributed path, but at that point it would be faster just to draw your 1 batten and then distribute in plan view.
  19. In terms of space...he has a 128gb primary drive that the OS is installed on. Given that he is running a ryzen card, his mobo likely supports an M.2 drive which is worlds faster than an SSD. So its tiny...and slow. Would make for a great backup partition or external drive
  20. That solid state driver is just way below standard in space requirements within our industry. An upgrade to an NVME M.2 1tb samsung drive would be a great upgrade for you
