I can't figure out how best to build this in CA so I can apply materials as shown in the picture. I'm sure many out there do this. Can you give me your best process? If you have a 3/4" material for your soffit and you want a 1/4" drip on your fascia then make the sub fascia 1" less than your fascia and it will build with that look. TCB_BdnMY Posted Wednesday at 06:30 PM Share Posted Wednesday at 06:30 PM The example in the photo looks like it uses some sort of parallel chord truss system over the patio area, just however deep you need it to be, order the truss' that size and finish appropriately. Shouldn't need to be insulated at all either, do make sure its vented though if your using a T&G finish. As long as you have sufficient separation and sheathing @ the wall to isolate the area, make sure you detail that in there to avoid temperature difference issues etc down the road. In the program. @CharlesVolz had it bang on. The roof is overhanging that windowed gable wall. The gabled roof edge has a shadow board fascia, and the finished fascia is matching siding. You'll do that with p'line solids. If you selected roof trusses, they will build between the ceiling plane and the roof plane. The elevation of the ceiling planes and roof planes determines the roof structure's depth. For something like that where I'm at, the city would want a full tall wall framing plan and section of the front area along with the submitted truss plans etc. I mean, its not the worst thing, but oh well.
