Lock window labels

I’m not in front of my computer but I think you need to right- click the schedule and choose either refresh or re-number from the dialogue drop-down/context menu and it will re-number everything correctly.

Then if you want them in a certain order you can drag each row up or down and that will also re-order the callouts. I could be wrong because I can’t verify but I think that’s how you do it

Guys, Thanks for the answers, I didn't realize I could renumber by drag and drop.

But here is my dilemma. Say I delete window W19, but I still want window W20 and the others after it to retain their original designation.

When changes are made during the bidding process and I delete a window and they are renumber on my plans then the window quotes don't align with my plans.

This reminds me of similar situation when I want to keep the numbering of plan keynotes /  keynote schedule unchanged during the permit plan check process.

There are times when I need to delete an item in the design.  But, if the keynote goes away, so does it's corresponding entry in the note schedule.  The solution I came up with was to keep the keynote and revise it's text to read "(Not used)."  I then drag the keynote way off to the side of the floor plan and add a text reminder not to delete the note from the project.  In this way I can keep the original keynote schedule row entry and the schedule from renumbering.  Furthermore, it maintains a clear record of a deleted schedule item for the plan checker.

So, I wonder if something similar can be done with a window.  Don't delete the window but move it off to the side in a placeholder wall.  Might be a way to define its properties so that it reads "not used" in the window schedule.  But, I think an easier way is just do a strike out over its particular schedule row -- Here is a rectangular hatched polyline with label "not used" over the schedule row item:

Bit of brainstorming / stream of consciousness session, but might work for you.

As far as I can tell, this is how it is already supposed to work.  If you delete W19, you will have a "hole" in your schedule and W20 should be the same.  Now if you add any new windows, they might get added in the slot at W19 instead of at the end.  You could drag it to the end, but unfortunately, it will then move W20 into the W19 slot.  Also, there might be some other things you can do that will force the schedule to renumber even without you using the "renumber" tool.  Not sure what all these are though but my guess is that this is what you are running into.

Another thing you could do is convert the schedule into a normal text table which would remove any automatic behavior.  You would then have to manually edit the table to add or remove any windows and you would also lose your automatic callouts.

I'm a bit confused by this thread.

  • In X17 if I delete a Door, Window, Cabinet, etc
    • the Schedules simply reduce in sizes ( one less row )
    • the Labels don't change
  • In X13 - which the OP is using - it may be different.

My suggestion would be to upgrade to X17.
