2D Stair Appearance

Hi all,

For some reason, I'm having difficulty finding this info. I would like to show my staircase with a traditional "cut" line at about the 4' level above the floor. In particular, I have a closet space under the stairs that I'd like to show on the plan, and I'm rather confused on how to make it show up (without masking a CAD block over top of the whole area.)

While this was a simple operation in VW & Acad Arch, I can't seem to figure out how to do this in Chief.

Any help is appreciated,

Matt

I guess because I've gotten so used to "everything" being easier with Chief, I'm actually surprised that the stairs behave the way they do.

So while I'm bummed out there isn't a simple solution to the problem, I very much appreciate the comments.

I guess it's time to create a "CAD, Stairs" layer!

You can make the stairs have no fill and be transparent so you can see what's below.

 Exactly.

Then draw white lines over the higher portion of stair treads to help show the floor area below the stairs.

If this doesn't work to your liking, you can always turn the stair layer off.

Draw the first five or six treads and railing with CAD lines and create a break line.
