Atari2600
Hi all, For some reason, I'm having difficulty finding this info. I would like to show my staircase with a traditional "cut" line at about the 4' level above the floor. In particular, I have a closet space under the stairs that I'd like to show on the plan, and I'm rather confused on how to make it show up (without masking a CAD block over top of the whole area.) While this was a simple operation in VW & Acad Arch, I can't seem to figure out how to do this in Chief. Any help is appreciated, Matt
raltd9245
Not in Chief some of us have been asking this for years to no avail. It does not appear to be on the top of the list for the programers.
DRAWZILLA
You can make the stairs have no fill and be transparent so you can see what's below.

glennw
In the meantime, this may help https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/2295-fantastic-new-solution-found-re-how-do-you-show-partial-open-railing-stairs-and-how-to-show-the-door-to-the-basement-stairs-underneath/
DRAWZILLA
P that is not what he is asking for. I know but until Chief has this ,it's all we have. It's a lot of work to me so I just make the stairs transparent and done
Atari2600
I guess because I've gotten so used to "everything" being easier with Chief, I'm actually surprised that the stairs behave the way they do. So while I'm bummed out there isn't a simple solution to the problem, I very much appreciate the comments. I guess it's time to create a "CAD, Stairs" layer! VHampton
You can make the stairs have no fill and be transparent so you can see what's below. Exactly. Then draw white lines over the higher portion of stair treads to help show the floor area below the stairs. If this doesn't work to your liking, you can always turn the stair layer off. Draw the first five or six treads and railing with CAD lines and create a break line.
