Nicu101268 3 Posted December 21, 2020 Hello. I just created an account on this forum to ask how we can change the look of the foundation. I mean the texture of the material. I would like something that looks like applied river stone.
DRAWZILLA 784 Posted December 21, 2020 Foundation walls are just like regular walls, just add a stone layer to the outside of the wall
Nicu101268 3 Posted December 21, 2020 Thanks DRAWZILLA I tried to use Material Painter spray brush but does not work.
Nicu101268 3 Posted December 21, 2020 Well, I used Adjust Material Definition (this was the information I needed) I navigated through my computer to the desired material (path) and I succeeded. Thanks everyone.
GeneDavis 143 Posted December 21, 2020 So you changed a single layer foundation wall from having its texture as "concrete" to a stick-on-faux-stone texture? Some of us might have added a 2" finish layer to the exterior of our concrete foundation wall, and given THAT 2" layer the river stone texture. But with Chief, hey, it's flexible, and you can build it any way you want.
Nicu101268 3 Posted December 22, 2020 Thanks. The question is how to add 2" finish layer to the exterior of our concrete foundation wall or any type of wall? I can use panels for that?
Chopsaw 660 Posted December 22, 2020 Something like this:
Nicu101268 3 Posted December 22, 2020 Ok. Thanks @Chopsaw. Nice instructions .
joey_martin 390 Posted December 22, 2020 You can also use the MATERIAL REGION tool and add it while in elevation mode. This tool gives you the ability to "shape" the stone around the terrain like the installers would have to do.
GeneDavis 143 Posted December 22, 2020 But MOST importantly, get some training. As in . . . Get Some Training At the Chief website, search for training videos that teach wall definition, videos that teach about material textures, and about the use of material regions on walls. There are many training videos available on YouTube, some produced by Chief, the rest privately
Nicu101268 3 Posted December 22, 2020 Thank you all. In the end I managed to make a house that I am very proud of as if I had made it in reality. For a beginner I say it's pretty good.
