Interior wall edits

Hey, I'm a newbie here, trying to get the hang of the software. I'm trying to change the interior wall type of one room, but it seems to effect the wall in the room next to it. I tried the break wall tool but the same keeps happening.

Yeah, I just want to change the material of one wall without it affecting the wall of the room next to it.

Put this info in you Signature as the answers to your questions sometimes depend on the version used.....

 

Copy the Walltype ( under define button) and give it a slightly different name and then change the material on one side as needed.

What happened to the Break Wall Tool in Version 12??  I used it all the time, now it has disappeared with X12.

The regular Break tool in the lower edit toolbar now breaks walls too, so the Wall Break tool was taken off the stock toolbar.

 

The Wall Break tool is still there, you can go to Customize Toolbars and add it back to your toolbar.

I am trying to use the wall break tool.  I find the tool when i search for it in Customize tool bars but how do i get it into my wall tools?

to start a new thread with your question. That being 

said you can access the Break Line tool quickly by

hitting the 3 key on your keyboard.

Just to clarify, using the "3" key only works if you first select a wall and if you didn't change your hotkeys.  You should also see the "add break" tool in the edit toolbar or on the right-click menu when you select a wall.

 

Also, if you are trying to add the standalone "wall break" toolbar button to your main wall toolbar, you can't.  You can add it somewhere else in your custom toolbars but you just can't put it into the "straight wall tools" family (or any other toolbar family for that matter).
