Enlarging part of the floor plan

I need to send portions of the Floor plan to layout pages as "enlarged - noted" and "enlarged - dimensioned plans". I didn't find the topic in the knowledge base or thread, so I'm thinking I have to blow up those areas, add notes and dimensions etc., then,  turn on and off notes and dimensions as needed and anything unnecessary for the purpose (once I have them all in the plan), then convert them to symbols?   Is that the way you normally do it?  Once (if it is possible) the symbols are created and placed, if I should make any changes to those areas I will have to update the enlarged plan, or will it update automatically?

Thanks

UPDATE:  I attempted to enlarge the area (per the snip)  and can't find any way to convert it to a symbol?  I copied and pasted the enlarged area into the same plan, so I guess I'll have to add notes and dims to that, and send it separately to layout and resized so that only the portion I wish to use displays?

No need to make a symbol or even a cad detail.  You can keep it live if you make a new layerset for the scale to switch notes etc.

You can send as many versions as you like that way or exploded details that are live.  Crop with layout box.

Hi Bob,

I thought of your post here while watching Scott Harris's Video on Construction Documents today , I'd suggest downloading the Sample Lake Point House Plan Set 1st ,so you have the Files.

https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html

The whole Video is worth watching but in particular from about 15 mins on, in regard to your questions about using Plan views and Cropping Layout boxes etc.

If you like his Annotations / Layer Sets etc in the Video , he basically tells you in this one how to make the included Sample Files your Own in this Video which I had watched 1st.

Those were interesting vids Mick. I've never sent a plan view as 'current screen' but can see the logic as it saves a little work when cropping. Lots of great nuances in those vids. Thanks for posting those and thanks to Scott for creating them.

It's a good series , and looks at the ConDocs side of CA rather than the EyeCandy Elements and it being done in X10 was my other interest as I still don't use Plan Views like I should be. Scott's Video's are always good to watch I find , lots of small tips and He explains things well I find , it would be a good series for those New to CA too I think.
