Kbird1
More like catching up of late lots of Issues for many with the 380 Series if you read the Notes there is a Fix for GTX 980-1080 Cards and OpenGL which should help with Chief. and a fix for GTX 965 Cards to return their Speed. SabGroup
Just an FYI, I just updated to the latest GeForce 397.93 and immediately experienced the old problem of Chief hanging upon closing out of any plan views and having to be force closed without saving. I reverted back to 391.35 and Chief is working fine. If you just updated your Nvidia graphics driver you might want to give Chief a test run to make sure the program doesn't hang for you. Thanks for the warning. Did you let Nvidia and Chief Tech support know ? It seems to take a long time to get these things sorted out so it would likely be best to get it on the list as soon as possible.

I am using 397.64 with my 1070Ti currently and haven't had any issues but I am not using CA heavily ATM. 391.24 was the other good one for me.......as the 1070Ti will not run anything less than the 388 Series. DRAWZILLA
I USE THE gf experience , all the other drivers don't bother me. Have more space then I'll ever use on this computer. also have a secondary 4tb drive for overflow if needed.

steve_stuart
@Kbird1 Mick, I currently am using GeForce Game Ready Driver 442.23 and am seeing Quadro Desktop Release 450 (version 451.77) as an apparent update, am I safe to download this driver to run my graphics (OpenGL Renderer Quadro T2000/PCIe/SSE2)? Hi Steve, Do you run Software other than Chief , that can take advantage of the Quadro enhancements? eg Solid Works 3D or other engineering type CAD applications? Chief does not require the Quadro variant, a GTX or RTX card is fine, but I know many CAD Workstations and Laptops come with them. The Quadro Drivers are actually a Superset of the Studio Driver Version and are usually about 1 series behind (ie: 450 vs 451.xx series currently) due to extra testing and other "enhancements" and personally I saw no problems with the 451 Series of the GR or Studio Driver. This is the latest download and release notes for the T2000 https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/162431/en-us

steve_stuart
Chief is really the only software that needs the Quadro so not needed for any other programs I am running. I got the notice of the updated driver this morning but I don't want to cause any problems with how things are working right now. The release you have linked is what I got, I have enough knowledge about this to be dangerous and it seemed like you have quite a bit of background with it so I thought I would check to see if you thought it was safe. I only use Chief , so have never had a Quadro personally , so my knowledge of those Cards has been Gleaned over the years from reading different threads, they are not required for Chief , in fact Chief advises to buy a Nvidia Gaming Card ( with 4GB Ram ) to save money. The Studio and Quadro Driver are considered more Stable , and in running the Studio vs GR Drivers I have never noticed any difference in Chief or otherwise. I don't think you will have an issue but it won't harm anything to wait a week and see if there are any reports online of Issues. It's what I normally do to , unless I already have a know Issue the new Driver may address. M.
