OkcDesigner
Anyone used this yet, or want to take a look at how it works. I uploaded the share email on my Spec Home design entry comments. If you want to try it have fun. Note: appliances furniture and Fixtures are turned off. (got surface count down to 150,142ish) I used a friends IPhone to look at it first hand myself today. Liked it at LD, but HD really is nice............ See me using it with cabinet turned off as well for builders real soon.

OkcDesigner
I do not understand why I did not just do this the other night....... maybe next to last line in signature. I would like to share my Chief Architect® 3D Viewer model, "Plan 2292", with you. To view the model I’ve shared: 1. Open the 3D Viewer app 2. Tap the settings icon 3. Select the 'Cloud' option 4. Log in to your Chief Architect account 5. Tap the folder icon 6. Select the 'Shared' option 7. Tap 'Activate Share Invitation' 8. Enter this code: 25426 00611 31038 If you do not have a Chief Architect account, take a moment to create one, it’s free. If you haven’t already, you can download the free 3D Viewer app to your mobile device. iTunes App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/3d-viewer-by-chief-architect/id1083656847?ls=1&mt=8 Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ChiefArchitect.Viewer3D For more information about the Chief Architect® 3D Viewer app, visit https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3DV
BrownTiger
I'tried, and it is very cool, thank you very much for letting us know. however I do have issues with overall ChiefArchitect Viewer design paradigm. It is wrong, wrong, wrong. Should not take that much work to view a plan.

OkcDesigner
David, When you share it you have to send it to an email. I sent it to myself and copied it from there.
dskogg
I got thru to ca support, email only works if you have an email program such as outlook on computer, wont work with gmail etc.
bobeee
nope. i cannot open any .plan files in 3d viewer. even when you up up an email to which a sample .plan file is attached. you can download the file, but when you hit 'open in', the 3d viewer app is not listed. justmejerry
Bobeee, ".plan" files open with Chief Architect not viewer. As far as I know viewer opens "3D model" files through a link.
bobeee
thank you justmejerry. But can you be a little more specific? What has to be done in CA or Home Designer to generate the file that can be sent by email so 3dviewer can open it?
OkcDesigner
bobeee, CA has to export plan to CA cloud 3Dview, then send you link to be able to view the 3D model with 3Dviewer.... If they sent you plan file then you need to use the free CA file viewing software and I am not sure but believe it only works on Mac / Windows computers...... So until you determine what they sent or will send, will determine what free software you need.
bobeee
thank you. so that means, to use the iPad, a person has to sign into chief architect's cloud with the LINK that the chief architect sends. I was trying to do this myself with home designer suite but cannot find how to generate such a link.
lbuttery
probably best to contact CA's tech support I'm sure they can advise what is needed and if it is possible for HD Suite to do this HD Suite has limited features and this may be not available ??? You may have to upgrade to HD PRO or Chief Premier CA can advise they are open 6 AM - 5 PM Pacific Lew
bobeee
Turns out 3D viewer on iOS only works w ca premier. I included their reply on the other thread about this
ChiefUserDarren
Once shared, are the viewer files downloaded to the device, or do you need to have Internet access to view them?

It would be nice if that was an option that the designer could offer to a client but as of yet I don't believe it is available, however once you have loaded the file I am not sure that you would need to have continuous internet access if you were to keep the app open and move to a location without internet if that would help.
