Linking new plan files and layout files in X8;

Anyone tell me exactly, maybe with some screenshots, how to go about making doubly sure that a plan file

is linked properly with the corresponding layout file in the settings. It would help greatly, if you could take a snapshot of where

it is in the settings, or just exactly how to get to the screen where you can manipulate or make this change if need?

Thanks so much in advance!

In the layout, go to tools, layout, reference files, and browse to the plan you want associated with the layout

You select an existing plan or other linked view. Specifically you left-click to select the view. Then in that selected object's "Edit Toolbar" you will see an icon that looks like two chain links. You then click that icon which will open a "Browse" dialog where you can then see what plan file us currently linked or browse to another plan file and change what is then showing on your layout.

You would be well advised to keep all linked plan and image of PDF file copies in the SAME folder as the associated layout. The layout needs to also be in the same folder as those objects associated with it.

We end up with lots of save as variations- we place a text with macro inserted for file name-helps avoid confusion down the line. Elevations and when linking mulitple plans will place macro in the view label to identify the file. Just have to remember to get rid of them before printing.

You may need to save, close and reopen the layout for the re-link to kick in.  Or hit refresh.

      I usually print layouts on 24"x 36" paper so that is what my layout template is set up to do. A client wants to print on 11"x 17". When I change the size of the drawing sheet, it changes the paper size without adjusting the title boxes, notes, etc. Is there a way to resize the entire layout without creating a new layout template for 11" x 17" paper?

      The architect I am moonlighting for wants the title sheet to be rotated 90° to the rest of the sheets. I am not sure this is possible without creating a new layout just to have the title sheet be in the correct orientation. Is this an accurate assumption?

      Upon sending 3D cameras to layout, I've noticed that they don't come through with the same aspect ratio as shown on my screen. That means I need to zoom waay in to get the view to look correct on the layout. What gives? Is there some setting I'm missing or is this a bug?
      Here you see a screen shot of my camera (exactly as shown, with no toolbars turned on so it's the full CA window) and the view as sent to layout (again, cropped perfectly to show how the camera came through). Next I match the widths and put them side by side to show the difference. What accounts for this? I have been unable to figure it out.

      I am using x10.  I have a kitchen type that I will multiply many times and save by unit #. I need to have the unit # show up on my layout page for each plan that is saved.
      Not sure how to save the units and have the info show up.
      Thanks in advance!
