Please indicate system specs and program version. Good idea to put into your signature makes it easier to help. Post a screen shot, there are a couple of variable issues that could be what you describe. Posting a plan along with it almost guarantees a good answer (close the plan before posting or it will be empty) So one issue si video card related, the other has to do with proximity of the light source to another object and the light properties. IF it's the second one a plan will help.

Have you tried adjusting the sun location? Chop- I'd said It should still run with the minimum without having a major feature broken. Before I got the HP I talked with Graham who has had one for a while- it runs Grandview. I wouldn't want to do production on it but didn't expect it to. It ran X10 a tad slower than 9 and did PBR fine, until the public release. So I think they can fix this stuff.

I have run into a different issue with my little HP that also only has an Intel card. Support is looking into it might want to send yours in too. BTW Chopsaw is mistaken about the system requirements- current are 4GB system and 1GB video card, still says it supports Intel cards but does recommending a dedicated GPU. I can't reproduce your issue. On mine the problem is more with PBR views but what is worth looking into. While trying to get what you are getting I did get a series of SEH errors in standard views but I had forgotten to switch my power setting to performance. What I found is that I only have the issue with current "correct" drivers for the card (dated from 11/17 onward). Graham has an older version of the same machine and discovered this an update to his driver. I've had to force install a driver from an older version of the card, one that supposedly does not support the hardware I have, to make everything work. So if you video driver is newer you might try a roll back to an older version and see if that helps.

1- that is the cursor that indicates you have off angle wall. Guessing you drew the off angle walls holding the ctrl key? Turn off angle snaps and you will get a different funny cursor that will go away if you turn on angle snaps again. 2-leave them all until you have all the off angle walls drawn. Then select "Ignore all.. 3- can't tell without the plan-post it-make sure it's closed first or nothing will post. I usually try to set the plan so that as many of the walls can be orthographic as possible while drawing it. After you draw the other off angle walls, with some luck some of those angles match and you can add the angle to the "General Plan Defaults", allowed angles. Images from the Help

Graham reminded me-moving the sun and changing the angle- usually so that it streams through the offending window also solve the problem but not always the most accurate (like on the north side of house)

This may or may not be relevant. I have no issues on my Sager. On the HP however I get problems like yours, X9 is fine (for what the machine can do) but X10 lags. Here's the thing-after talking with another user, who has an older model of the same machine and an older version of the Intel video card, it turns out to be a driver problem. Either of the "Correct", current drivers for the card produce issues-lag, pixels, black screen, SEH errors. If I force an incorrect driver, one for the older version of the card that should not support my card, then X10 runs almost as well as X9 does. I would not expect quite the same performance for each on that machine, on the Sager I do and get it. Note too that there have been reports of issues with AMD cards and X10. Cheryl- I've found the color shifts to be almost always related to color bouncing off of the backdrop. Things that have solved this-turn backdrop off, add light sources (hit and miss), change the backdrop (flat ones are less of a problem). Best one I've found so far if I want the outside to appear in the window is to turn off the backdrop and then place a billboard outside the windows. Here's a few quick examples-forest background, flat sage brush backdrop, forest backdrop with some lights added.(both inside and outside the windows) I didn't slap together one with a billboard.

I've periodically had copy paste failure in Chief, usually in the library (and Libre Office). I keep a shortcut on the desktop to "clear clipboard" instructions are here.

Thought I'd add some of the what and why I look for in a laptop for full time use. Desktop processor avoids having Optimus. While you can, and should, make sure that Chief is using the dedicated GPU I've found that Optimus can be an issue when used with multiple monitors since those use the Intel card. How much of an issue depends on what ports you are connecting the monitors to. K series CPUs- I don't overclock. They always have a slightly higher clock speed. Graham says that single core clock is important; when checking mine it does use all the cores though not equally. (Opening a PBR w/ 580k surfaces of a 27MB plan hits 40% on mine, higher if I have more open. I've seen it spike to 100 briefly at times.) I've seen mention that the K processors are nothing more than a higher quality of the same processor and have better cooling. I don't know if that is so or not, but I've never had this machine throttle. Heat management-check the brand, check the specific machine, and the components if customizing. It's pointless to get a machine that throttles for steady day to day use. GPU- of the current ones I lean towards the 1070, best balance of price to perfomance, less heat issues than the 1080 from what I've read C drive- the fastest PCIE I can find, might or might not get Raid again. It does appear to help a little but newer SSDs are faster (Samsung 960 Pro) I'm fine with 500 GB. I've got 360 free with lots of programs including 3 versions of Chief, TuborCad, Envisioneer, 4 photo programs.... Up-gradeable. Every time I've looked into actually upgrading a laptop it has not been worth it. BUT being up-gradeable also means that those parts are serviceable in case of failure. Storage drive-I just get a 7200 HDD. I've tested storing non program files on both types of drives-zero difference. Ports- I want the most comprehensive selection of ports I can get. Both to future proof and for backwards compatibility of peripherals. I insist on have Display Ports over just HDMI since I've found they perform better on my external monitors. Don't have any USB3.1 or Thunderbolt montiors yet so can't say (but I have both ports) Keyboard - you are going to live with it as long as you own the machine and can be a weak spot. Sure I also sometimes use wireless, number pad, and keyboard (and always a wireless trackball, hate trackpads) but use the built in keyboard 90% of the time. I want a full keyboard with a dedicated number pad, function keys, good response, solid quality. Backlit is nice if you have lousy sleep patterns. The only way to sort these (and screens) is IRL or checking multiple reviews. I favor user reviews. Screen- same goes for this, it's for life- as noted earlier I wouldn't bother with 4K but I may take a look at 1440 next time. Use the higher res for larger external monitors. I always get just the 30 day pixel guarantee, cheap enough. Wireless card- I always get the best Intel card available. Over the years I've found the Intel cards to be problem free, not so much others. My machine also came with a Killer card for LAN where it wins. Power- always an extra power brick to keep in the car. Really sucks forgetting it if a meeting goes too long. I don't bother with extra batteries any longer. Brand/vendor/OS/misc- reliable build, zero bloatware (I don't want to spend a couple of hours cleaning things up), good vendor support, customizable. (note that the weak point on Sagers is limited BIOS updates which has never been and issue for me, but is one reason I'd be looking to HIDevolution if getting another desktop CPU). Windows pro (I'm a PC) lets me control updates (about to try installing GPEDIT on the HP so may not need it.) Sound- I have external speakers and when I've got golf on the TV (wireless adapter) the sound comes from that. Docking stations- I don't care; I only plug in 3 cables, nice little ritual. All that in a current laptop can be right about $3k, same as what I paid 2 years ago. All the machines before that were $2k or slightly less. Currently there is no reason for me to upgrade, not enough improvement and some things are actually a step back. I don't expect to be upgrading until at least after X11, maybe 12. I check desktops every now and then. Price for what I'd want always come out very close. The advantage is you can keep reusing monitors and keyboards to save a little and if you really want to go to town can get even more juice (I've configured some that would really hurt). The other thing to consider is the price of a good desktop combined with a mediocre laptop. A Mac with the same stuff, if even available, would be a good bit more but some folks really like em.

$3k note the desktop CPU. If I were getting a machine today I'd get a Clevo with 8700k/gtx1070, 16gb, 960pro, at HIDevolution. Just helped a client configure a Sager from Xoticpc with 7700hq and gtx 1070 for $2k Agree about not getting 4k screens at on screens under 27 maybe 24.

Yes-Sager/Clevo are gaming machines- the GTX980m (or any GTX card) As to laptop vs desktop it depends on needs -being completely mobile makes me money...and to a lesser extent personal preference-I prefer not be fussing with clouds and transferring files or settings. I pay a little more, though not as much as it once was, and give up a little (only a little) in upgrade ability.

I've been working on laptops exclusively for a decade, they suit me and my business. My experience doesn't match what your friend says, except for battery life. (more performance = less battery life). Main point being that Chief works better on gaming machines than workstations; just see what folks on this board use. (I've had both) To your question- I have 32GB ram on the current Sager and it never gets close to being used. I doubt you would notice a thing upgrading that on your machine.

What I posted was also from the current help, after following the link to "camera labels and callouts" to see if there was something missing. Looks like the first help is incorrect since what is stated in Camera Labels and Callouts is what actually happens and has for some time.

Side just use the drop down and match front, if you are going to have to alter anything like the swing, then change to custom face AFTER you match front. I use molding lines (build, trim, molding line) -NOT 3D-for all cabinet moldings. I have a keyboard for it, also save molding stacks to a warehouse plan for future use. Note that you have to add the thickness of the floor finish to the height. To that end I change the default for kitchens and baths to match the default for the rest of the floor to keep the math simple (Besides IRL it's more often higher?)

I'm not much of a RTer- There are others, like Graham. My take would be to switch to PBR and forget about RT. Attached- fixed one exterior wall (brick with two walls in one place somehow), deleted extra roof, placed and saved 3 PBR cameras. There were no saved cameras in your plan so could not tell what was the issue to begin with. I did not do much with the PBRs (and there were missing textures) So they could be improved, these are almost OOB just altered a few setting to avoid problems. Copy each camera, move it a little and play with the settings- take a look at the lets PBR thread. Fastest way to get something decent for meeting IMO. Background is in individual cameras and/or camera defaults. GAT_glowing_3_cameras.zip

Just in case anyone is playing along I just tried the "correct" driver with the update 20.1.1.1. Thought since they fixed something with Intel cards, albeit on Macs, and Dermot said they thought issues were important, but NG. Same thing. Sent in again as full report along with an assortment of SEH errors that allowed to report. Rolled back and is fine. Oddly enough this was not a problem in the first two Beta releases, just since the public and final.

Interiors now has annosets and plan views same as premier still doesn't have framing or terrain. If you decide to go for full version I still have a copy for sale In a moment of weakness I offered it for $100 less with a one hour session if someone bought it this week. I'll stand by that until Sunday.

Eric's method and Rich's are both simpler and easier. I use the more complicated one so that I can get a cabinet of the correct size and the legs into a cabinet schedule. (the legs are door symbols placed into a cabinet that is openings on 3 sides.)

and if you need to close the cuts make a door symbol from a slab and adjust origin and lock depth, add to side as "side panel inset" See post on cabinet hacks in tips section using that principal

Use framed construction- if frameless just set to 3/4" separation. Set left and right separations to "0", split face, convert left to opening, split again and make opening on right. Etc. Depending on needs may have to use 0 toe kick and then fake that. Here's a quick start. corner.plan

Nice looking system. I don't know anything about Titan, another outfit to look into is Pugetsystems ( Curt Johnson has their system.) If you are using PBR for renderings instead of Ray Trace I'd look into the i-7 8700K, faster single core speed and except for Ray Trace Chief doesn't fully utilize the extra cores. Might also bump up the SSD to a Samsung 950 (or the 950 Pro) with the savings.

I wasn't sure if this should go into symbols or here. Since you would still have to make some symbols on your own, this is more of a guide than it is symbols. The attached plan has cabinets with: Extended stiles. The extension will NOT bump, only the cabinet will (I actually prefer that) Side extended back -same thing about bump. 2 versions since they both have Interior that does not match the exterior- done two ways. Clipped Corner cabinet where the clips will not disappear when placed next to the correct size cabinet. There are tow with a note- both are blocked to prevent the clips from going away. The "cabinet door" symbol used for each is included so you can open things, see what is going on and make your own for other situations/sizes. I've got an X10 Premier license for sale. For this week I'll drop to 1800 and throw in an hour online meeting (strengths are remodel, symbols, cabinets, anno sets and layers- not so good with roof, terrain and well stairs are what they are)

Yes- start with framed cabinet, "0" separation, whatever reveal you want, 0" toe height and depth (sometimes I make them from wall cabinets instead) You then configure your toe with openings and side panel inset. Use custom door symbols for the toe where you adjust the origin. Here's one done with half inch on the side and 3 on the front- same principal.

Cameras stay put when: open or saved or sent to layout. I've not seen an exception.
