As to light output and such- may want to see about using spots instead of point lights. There are situations with some cabinet hacks where spots work better. If you need these in a schedule correctly and order these by sizes (I use Hafele) having them in library is handy.

There are over 20,000 posts in the suggestion forum. I know that mine are really more important but not everyone feels that way. I kind of like Larry's approach-high hopes, limited expectations. I don't check to see if they did any of mine (there's one I've sent in every year that, well, if it happens I may fall over dead) Instead I just do the Bubba Gump thing and see what sweets are in the box. This version may give me a diabetic overdose. :)

I think the answer to what you are asking is yes. Have plan view A using annoset A, then change to annoset B and Save AS-plan view A will still have annoset A while new plan view B will be tied to annoset B. OTOH if you just SAVE after you change from annoset A to annoset B then it will have annoset B. For this reason I moved the Save Plan view icon all the way to the left and added both New and Save as icons where it was. I teach my clients that when they start they open two plan views, change layerset on one, then close it. When message pops up asking "do you want to save" check don't ask again and NO. This prevents them from accidentally mucking up the plan views that were sent to layout (like closing in a hurry, have to get to meeting, message pops up do you want to save...and didn't read what it wanted to save, just said yes...)

I have some annosets that I only use for working-like to dimension a kitchen (wall cabinets only, base only, centers, like that) But those are never sent to layout, just revert the plan view first. (or don't save it when done working)

I always place all solids on the desired layer first,then block, then place the block on that layer.

It's pretty close already. My templates are set up with all or most plan views already in the layout connected to a plan template (blank mostly). Sometimes the layout boxes need to be resized. In that case the pages are all set already so I resize the first one, go to next page, delete view, copy paste hold position, open object, change the associated plan view, continue. For a lot of plans I already have elevations in there too, just have to move them on the plan, sometimes adjust the layout box, and sometimes rename (but I avoid that) Usually have to add some since I do mostly remodel.

SO I forgot that you can't copy elevation cameras, principle remains that you need multiple cameras. So I made new cameras each using a different layer set. One issue I ran into was that your shutters are not just located on the shutter layer but also on Cad default (since they are blocked) and you need to turn that layer off to turn off the shutters. I fiddeld with it in X10 then realized you are on 9 so only posting image from layout-3 cameras each using a different layer set Changed material on front is a material region set to NOT cut layer-only turned on in one view. Just proof of concept. So no you only need mulitple files IF you are changing something structural or integral to a symbol -like if your shutters were part of the window instead of how you have them.

Section and elevations are 3D views, more like perspectives than like plan views. When an elevation or section are sent to layout they are linked to a camera, a specific camera. They are not linked to a plan view even in X10 or separate layersets. Open the view in layout and look at the DBX- no options for layerset listed there as it would be in X9 plan view sent to layout. If you change the layerset for that camera in plan it will always change when updated. Chief always updates cameras when sending to print. There are two ways to accomplish what you want. Send to layout as image. OR use multiple cameras. Name first camera and place on layer visible in desired layerset (say corbels) Send view to layout. Then- Copy and paste in place that camera, rename and place on another layer, switch layersets and check that the 2nd camera's layer is on but the first one is off. Send to layout. Repeat. Naming each camera just lets you keep track of what layerset it uses. Placing the cameras on separate layers is not essential but makes working much easier.

If you didn't uninstal x9, go to the x9 data folder and copy it from there to the x10 folder

(before COL adjustment) LA 8yrs $78,350 yr Kind of interesting and fun but in any case I don't consider CA is expensive. To help you better post a plan and/or a screen shot and what version of the software you are using. (good idea to fill that out in your signature) A quick thought without looking is use one of the elation cameras in vector view mode. IF you need to dimension to frames you need to create a CAD detail-(from view in premier after you turn off the cabinet door layer among others) Just noticed this is in Tips. Codecs aside convert the output file format to WebM-either with free on line convertor or dedicated program. I've not tried any of the online ones and trial version of Wondershare only converts 1/3 of the video. I had been using Active Presenter for a while to do screen recording which is where I first found the format. WebM files can be opened by most browsers (not Safari) so no need to download another program to watch. BUT you likely need to tell whoever you send it to that is what opens it. Link to what opens a webm Just tested Wondershare-if I had the full version it would take this 773 mb AVI file (recorded in QHD) from a walkthrough and output a 27MB WebM file in UHD. IF it the output is changed to 1280 x 720 the file size drops to under 15MB

LMAO- I was writing out the long version when your post came up-short answer is as you say. 2020 exports: 3D DWG which comes in as a symbol with no faces or textures, 2d DWG floor plan which you can trace BUT best to only include walls an openings AND most 2020 jockeys don't draw a complete room -all in all waste of time just as well off with PDF, print it and read dims while drawing. XML file which can be imported into Envisioneer. The main advantage it creating editable elevations and dimensions that don't disappear, or creating a decent structure in EV that can't be done in 2020 it will import SU files but not export but I don't think that would help anyway. As Cheryl says it doesn't take that long and to do start from scratch. To make a decent PBR you need a complete structure (at least 4 walls (though I always have adjacent rooms), roof and foundation, non of which is in 2020. When I first switched I went back and forth between the two for about 2 years. Initially 2020 first then CA, then Chief for everything but did an item list in 2020 to get pricing (on some brands). Once I figured out how to get a good cabinet schedule and then generate pricing from that it has been CA all the way. IF someone approached me I might do a one-off IF they were going to bite the bullet and switch because: The next 2020 support payment would cover half almost half the cost of Chief but they should also plan on at least one training As Cheryl points out -better results in the long run with less frustration and it would my service would cost less that way I would venture to say that I've been able to produce better kitchens and drawings faster using Chief than with 2020. Once you are doing slightly better kitchens there is no contest, none. A search through assorted posts I've made on the forum provide enough information to get good schedules and deal with pricing either with on line ordering, using 2020 just for price, or with spreadsheet template (there is more coming on that, just not finished and undecided how it will be offered) When I first switched over to what I do now, drafting and assistance, I considered working from 2020 users and files and upgrading my copy of Envisioneer. After a short period of time I decided that I only work with people using Chief. For interior projects where there is a cabinet supplier they supply drawings to drop into Chief-PDF, DWG and renderings. There's a cost if I'm supposed to create renderings to include those elements (done from scratch).

I do field measures with the Spectre in my signature and occasionally a quick fiddle usually with X9. It will run X10 but slower. Kitchen Adobe also uses a slightly older model for presentations I believe. Would not want to do heavy lifting. It will be interesting to see what the new crop does this year.

I mostly use material regions so I can set them to cut the finish layer or not and they don't cover over windows etc which makes life easier. Seats with closed face I make with a cabinet that has the face changed to Blank and separations of 0" (unless I need framing for the drawings) Countertop can be tile thickness OR when stone is involved I can get overhang and different material. It's a matter of both preference and need for a situation.

Checking that box turns the cabinet into a filler which is why the box goes away. It does NOT control automatic fillers-that is controled by the defaults as I said.

I've still occasionally gotten this but far less trouble than it was. Was nearly impossible to document but I did finally get one plan to support that they were able to reproduce. When it happens it's always been on plans that were heavily worked, lots of save as. Added plan views and layersets, usually have multiple plan views open-from what I can tell it's more likely when creating a new plan view and yes working in the ALDO is a consistent part of it (that's where I always work layers). Most often save close solves the problem. Sometimes save as makes the problem stay away longer. The one plan that was a big problem I did an edit area and moved the whole thing to a new plan (PIA) So short answer is I don't know.

Tommy's method always works. Some farm sinks work with no issue (Most of the Kohlers are OK) Here's if you want or need to do it another way. Note that with both methods you are likely going to need to change the cabinet label (not with the Whitehaven though) Apron Sink.plan

That's a Clevo by another name- said you didn't like the build of Clevos. As I mentioned the last round of Clevos are not likley the best for thin but OTOH if this is to be a full time primary machine I'd be thinking differently about size and weight (have a nice Everki Backpack solves it). I showed you the heat from the Sager which I can get to peg at close to 90c with a lot on. The spectre runs hotter with much less power and very little (like hearts) running. Granted that is smaller and super thin but well... just physics. If I was set on thinner I'd wait a couple of months until the new models all shake out and keep a close eye on those forums over at notebookereview for real world info. Looks, well mine is all black, nice rubberized coating, when getting this it was between it and an MSI-either was fine. Traveled to NYC to test the MSI in person, already knew what the Clevos were. MSI looked like a spaceship (Dragon I think) but if I liked it better and could get all I wanted in it I'd live with it (duct tape does wonders)Deciding factore was getting t a desktop CPU with no Intel card hence no Optimus (big deal for me with multiple monitors) quality of the two -they were different, I preferred what I bought. Saving $$-maybe but not a whole lot really. Just had more options with some better interior components. HID now has some good component choices in their MSIs that were not available then but only in 15" machines. As to the Bios (and control center issues) The only thing was it would be difficult to change the video card, though possible. I have not had a single issue with either machine. Quadro cards-what Graham said +- check https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html to get an idea of what you are giving up in performance/$. FWIW before the Clevos I had Dell Performance machines with Quadros. If you think a Quadro may help with a rendering program then check which ones so you know, I know Lumion and Thea both like gaming cards. Now if I could afford a Quadro RTX6000 then that would be a no brainer Most of the Clevos, (and Alienware just added some machines) allow swapping cards but with thin and light you need to check first. No matter what can't swap a gaming card for a Quadro in a laptop AFAIK.
