  1. The problem with your railing connecting to the post on the left of your first pic can be easily remedied by going to plan view and selecting the hall railing (the the left-most rail in your pic) and dragging the diamond over the angled rail to replace that rail with the same rail definition. The wall joint can be fixed by nudging your under-stair closet wall about an inch into the under-stair closet space. The continuation of the angled stringer at the top of the stair rail is an issue that I don't think you can solve in X11 without a boat-load of special tinkering, poly-line solids,etc.. X12 would make it easier.
  2. Chop is right... I didn't catch that you are having the same issue with all your files.
  3. Seems like when I've seen this issue pop up (several times recently) it's usually due to something in your model which is floating out in model space very far from your house. Use one of the zoom tools.. I think Zoom Fill Window. If it zooms way out from your house then you know somethings floating out there. Use selection marquee to find the object. If that's not it, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on this will throw in an idea
  4. This is interesting !! The OP asked about setting focal length and you guys are all talking about the focal point. The distance from the focal point to the camera does not equal focal length. All the focal point does is aim the camera and set the distance the pivot point about which it rotates is from the camera. IF there were an actual focal length setting in Chief, it would change the camera's field of view, and vice versa. Anywhooo... perhaps the OP was actually looking for focal point instead of focal length? Joe?
  5. You can certainly do that. You'd need to make your own symbol. Search 'stretch planes'
  6. Correct, but that's essentially what you are changing when you change focal length. They are inversely proportional.

  8. Yeah, back when I used ACAD I exported to a program called Squiggle to create the hand sketch look. Now for conceptual I often do just like Jeff (above) showed, using watercolor with the squiggly lines Hey Jeff, how'd you get the consistent dark wall fill? I've tried changing my wall framing and plywood/osb to a dark color to get that effect, but it's never consistent.
  9. Quite sure it's the same as Chop's suggestion... use of Orthographic Floor Overview, in Top View mode.
  10. Do you guys know if Revit and/or ArchiCad can export in one of the formats that Chief can accept?
  11. Interesting. The closest I can get to 'automatic' on this is to first build a set of stairs to figure out what the riser height will be, then build a landing using invisible walls (or railing walls) and set the floor of that room to be down one riser height. Then build the stairs to that 'landing'... and then use the auto stairwell.

  15. Change the railing on the end from 'Interior Railing, Copy' to your 'Interior Railing' wall type
  16. As Mick said... if you show framing there will no longer be a hole there..... BUT...You need to have a roof or something over the front of the garage, even if the deck does not cover that part. Build your roof and problem solved.
  17. Glad you got it sorted out. But for future reference... you should never use the @#$%^ wall type. It always causes problems.

  20. Are you not using a structural engineer? They should provide the detail if so. New or retrofit? Depth of embedment, epoxy type, washer size and thickness... many things that need to be considered by structural calculation
  21. Didn't look at your test plan yet Chris, but I did it using X12 and it worked fine for me. It is fidgety though... I just redid it really quick and got a strange artifact you'll see in my pic. I think because I rushed the process of making the compound curve.
