  1. Shane: that is the tool I am trying to use ??? I can't get the text box centered on the page ??? Lew
  2. Ok, I don't understand how to center this text vertically and horizontally ? I see the marker bars but when I select them it shoves the text all the way to the bottom or to the side ??? I'm sure there is a way to do this but ??? I'm using X6 Lew
  3. while HD PRO users can benefit from following the Chieftalk forum with Suite you would probably be better served on the Hometalk forum Lew
  4. unfortunately at this time Chief doesn't allow for options that involve walls and rooms to occupy the same plan it would be nice if Chief had TOTAL layer control but it doesn't Lew
  5. Note: HD PRO has a very limited Layout tool compared to Chief Premier PRO can only create single page layouts max size is 18 x 24 if you use 1/8" scale the 18 x 24 layout pages can then be enlarged at the print shop to 36 x 48 11 x 17 could be enlarged to 22 x 34 etc while HD PRO users can benefit from the Chieftalk forum for layout questions you would probably be better served using the Hometalk forum Lew
  6. I doubt it this is why I still use PDF995 Lew
  7. around X4 I had every CA library plus a user library of 40,000 items no issues running since I have retired I no longer use that user library and only have the basic CA libraries in use Lew
  8. Ivan: I wouldn't count on the "Cad to Walls" tools - I haven't heard many that have had much luck with it the general recommendation on the forum is to import the file and then trace over the plan with walls and place doors and windows basically starting over again once again - I am amazed that there isn't a simple one-click conversion :( Lew
  9. If an engineer affixes his/her seal to drawings labeled "Acme Drafting Services" there is a good chance that they are guilty of professional misconduct Richard: as you stated elsewhere this varies from state to state Lew
  10. here in NY an architect/engineer can review and stamp the pages it is perfectly legal http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/arch/archguide-a2.htm in DC/MDVA they only needed to do pages that involved engineering etc other pages could be signed and submitted by the builder as Richard stated the requirements vary per jurisdiction so call the local permit office and ask what the requirements are Lew
  11. Chopsaw; thanks for the clarification just don't understand why Chief can't easily convert from metric to imperial etc ??? it should be "easy-peasy" Lew
  12. Perry/Scott: the 2nd display would be fine for a line or two but to do it for an entire plan would be a PITA Lew
  13. they are not both drawn on a 1:1 scale Chopsaw: I don't understand this, please explain a wall should have the same length whether expressed in metric or imperial Lew
  14. Hi: it would be the clients responsibility to find the architect and pay them it would be your responsibility to draw good plans and to fix them if needed Lew
  15. Andy: what ver of windows are you running ? what ver of Chief are you running ? have you talked to CA's tech support ? I agree with Joey, if Chief was crash-prone we would be hearing from other users about it I rarely hear someone posting about crashes my use of Chief is minimal so I can't help/guide there Lew
  16. Ivan: seriously ??? - you are light years beyond me .... I love that kitchen transformation animation wow if only I could even come close to doing stuff like that Lew
  17. Hmmm, you would think this could be done with one-click ?? display all metric or display all imperial ??? Lew
  18. Christina: I just did it using Win 7 works fine start the first instance of chief then select the chief icon on the desktop then hold the ctrl key then left double click on the chief icon it can be the same version of chief or two different versions you can probably have as many open as memory allows Lew
  19. While PRO users can benefit from following the chieftalk forum the layout tool is very different and asking your questions about layouts would be better served on the Hometalk forum for HD's features that allow manual operation posting here on Chieftalk may be of benefit Lew
  20. Johnny: maybe, but many have done so all a matter of knowing what needs to be done many DIY's find this out when they take their permit docs to be submitted Lew
  21. Note: my eyes can't handle 1080P (getting old, cataracts etc) I have mine set to 720P Lew
  22. Bob: just a note, if you have a single large screen you can have multiple windows open and viewable at the same time Lew
  23. 37" tv with 1080P best ??? works for me, especially when clients come over no huddling around a small screen I sit about 7' away to avoid eye strain Lew
  24. HD PRO users can benefit from following the Chieftalk forum it is the only HD product that has manual tools for most features a Premier user can set a flag that allows PRO users to work with the plan BUT, if the plan uses Premier features that PRO doesn't have that area will be read only an alternative is to buy Premier - use it for your project then sell it when you are done (are they ever really done ?) most likely be able to get 80% of cost back Lew
  25. Chief-Albert: you should start a new thread for your request then delete your post in this thread Lew
