  1. Been here over 10 years and have seen most every post and just haven't seen what you're talking about Lew Larry: seriously ??? I've been here since 2005 time and again : "why is CA so closed mouth" "why won't CA give us some hints" "does anybody know what's going to be in the next release" "I don't want to renew my SSA then be blindsided" "unless I don't know what's coming..." etc etc etc Lew
  2. I doubt if that is the "complete" feature set for X9 this is a "teaser" everyone complains when Chief refuses to release any details then when they give some hints they catch sh** again I have heard 1000+ times on this forum - "if Chief doesn't meet your needs then move on" Lew
  3. It used to be standard procedure to use Sketchup as a companion to Chief for making symbols etc Around version X2, Chief was improved enough that most symbols can be made using Chief I have to hire symbols to be made - so just parroting chatter on the forum Lew
  4. try this link to the old Chieftalk forum it takes you right to the search http://www.chieftalk.com/search.php Lew
  5. I can't tell which threads are new/unread .... Lew
  6. Larry: I tried ctrl - and it makes it just a bit too small plus then when I go to other tabs I have to do ctrl 0 to get back to normal its a PITA either way Lew
  7. Dan: I was doing nothing special on the old forum but I could see many more sections of the forum than I can now the scroll bar thing is a PITA if you stop to read a posting as you then have to mouse around until the arrow appears again then get over it again before scrolling can continue in the old forum the scroll arrow would not "disappear" so yes, I am frustrated Lew
  8. Dan: this is what my screen looks like when I enter Chieftalk I can only see a few of the sections of the forum at a time scrolling will be a PITA also when scrolling if I pause to read a thread the scroll bar down button and top button disappear until I move the mouse which then means moving the mouse back over the button making scrolling a PITA I don't like this at all Lew
  9. too "large" I have my resolution set to 1024 x 768 (720P) due to eyes with this new version of Chieftalk I will have to zoom out to see more of the threads etc or I will be constantly scrolling all the time .... I also can't tell which forum sections have new threads the color variations are way too faint ... Lew
  10. David: do you print straight to the printer from layout ?? if so, try creating a PDF first - seems to cure many print driver issues using PDF's also have many other advantages can email to others can keep an archive of exactly what you printed/sent and many other benefits I still use PDF995 which use to come with Chief others like Bullzip and Nitro and .... Lew
  11. select your first post and the delete option should appear at the bottom Lew
  12. this is a duplicate thread please delete it to avoid confusion Lew
  13. in Chief try the "edit area - all floors" tool to do that move someone will probably offer to help you I am retired ... Lew
  14. I started with ver 9.5 I spent 30 years as a systems analyst/programmer and was use to putting things where I wanted them tried doing it Chief each time I called tech support they blamed it on my having moved things by ver X1 I gave up and always let Chief store things where it wants to get use to it - not worth the fight Lew
  15. yes, I have used the software for planning moves I would create basic floorplan of new place create simple shapes for dressers, bookcases etc and size as needed use beds etc from the library and try to determine what would fit in each room the last time went very well etc for one hitch I had a very LARGE rolltop desk and it was slated to go into the spare bedroom that was going to be my office until we converted the garage to office and bath forgot to measure the door desk would NOT fit thru the door left it in the living room and finally gave it to a friend ... I am retired now or I would offer to assist with your project Lew
  16. the print shops usually recommend a 1/4" border to avoid losing stuff at the edges so whatever your desired print size put a border on Page 0 1/4" inside that Lew
  17. I think Michael is the only one using this "feature" back in ver 10 I had a client who was using it and it caused me no end of grief mainly because I didn't even know about it - nor did the client when I got the plan there were 20+ copies of everything after working for some time and making changes I would find out that those changes appeared in some views and not others client starts hollering "I thought you made that change" I'm hollering back "I did" once I realized what was going on I got rid of all those "copies" and have avoided them ever since If you are still interested work with Michael to understand how they work, or .... Lew
  18. if you can afford it - get the dedicated video card preferably Nvidia there is a difference between running and running well this also allows for future upgrades if needed Lew
  19. I thought there was an export feature built into the schedule tool ??? Lew
  20. yes, schedules can be exported to Excel Lew
  21. CA did offer the libraries on a DVD ask if that is still available but I think they might be the first version and not the latest for each release ??? Lew
  22. Maui: is your SSA current ? another issue may be that X3 had a HORRIBLE library system that required "subscriptions" and other PITA's probably best to contact CA's tech support on Monday for their advise Lew
  23. please delete your post as it is a duplicate Lew
