Yes, your title block is just 2D CAD so it can be imported, resized and placed on your layout template. You really need to study "Annotation Sets", "Layer Sets" as well as all the basic introduction videos to the basic tools and procedures. Going from strictly 2D to 3D is a large change for you. DJP

No change in this process from Vista to Windows 10, what worked then still works now. There were and still are several methods for saving screen images or printing them, they all still work. DJP

If you will look, using Windows File Explorer in C:/Windows/Users, Your Name/My Documents/Home Designer Pro 2018 Data/Templates/profile.plan . This plan file is the one that opens within HD Pro, each time you command "New Plan" in the "File Menu". So if you open it directly in HD Pro and edit its defaults (DO NOT PLACE ANY OBJECTS, WALLS, WINDOWS OR DOORS IN THIS PLAN. IT IS ONLY A TEMPLATE PLAN FOR SETTING YOUR COMMON DEFAULTS LIKE FRAMING, ROOF PITCH, POTENTIAL MATERIALS ETC, DO NOT PLACE ANY SYMBOLS OR OBJECTS IN THE PLAN). The most efficient use of HD Pro or Chief Premier is to customize its Default Settings before creating a .plan file, per project. General Default settings should fit how you commonly create a plan as you have so hoped. DJP

It boils down to confidence in ME and less so confidence in "it". I can make "it" produce what I need and want when I want and need it. Depending only on "it" is what I decry and ignore. I set it up in terms of default settings and then ignore it when it errs and just adjust it and drive on. I do not care how or why they programmed it and why it sometimes seems to vary in performance. I have camera tools and other manual tools to force it to my desires, no matter what apparent barriers it may seem to present. I am creative cause and it is a tool only. DJP

I tend to just be direct in my approach to Chief. It is a wonderful preprogrammed mechanical device which I often just ignore and make things, manually the way I need and want. Of course properly setting defaults is a vitally good idea but in the end, there is me and my intended product with Chief in the middle. I win because I am in control, not because Chief is always "right" . I make sure I am "right" always. DJP

The first place to look is "DisplayOptions" per camera type and the "Line Style" input box per layer in case you did not know. DJP

I have not looked at your plan files but I did glance at your plan set PDF (very nice layout!). The only thing I thought of is to preview each page with the "Show Line Weight tool" ON before printing (that is what it is for). You may want to look at upgrading your video card's software drivers or perhaps even the video card as it is the source of any difference between what you see and what you get in terms of printing. The better or more up to date video card just supports better visuals period. DJP

This is only secondarily a "Forum Question", yes Chief has been ported to Mac's for awhile but Tech Support should be your first call for help, not here. You get opinions and guesses here, your time is better spent on the phone with Tech Support. DJP

If you want me to just straighten up your current .plan file, I will need some pretty specific instructions as to what is needed. If you intend to build this PC, I recommend at least 8 or more Gb of RAM, SSD hard Drives, The most expensive CPU you can afford (Multi-Cores (min-8) and as fast as possible) and currently a NVIDIA Geforce 1080 video card If you intend to buy box store PC, then get a Dell Alienware PC, the fest you can afford I prefer Windows 10 as an OS, no matter what some old ladies say, it is the future DJP

I suggest you make the offending rail wall Invisible and then fill it in with slabs, poly-line solids of soffits to make the railing visible. but first, see if making the wall invisible solves the unwanted gap in the return. You can also turn off the auto full return and draw a manual return as a possible solution. DJP

I can model your PDF into a .plan file using Chief Premier X6 (Suite 2015 and X6 are compatible) and then program that file to be editable in Home Designer Suite 2015. The only proviso I would suggest is that you NOT thereafter try to build roofs because Home Designer Suite is VERY INCAPABLE in terms of creating roof systems. I started using Chief Premier Version 4 on Windows 3.1 in 1994 for a remodeling firm. The only viable method whether you use Premier or Pro is to have a relationally correct "As Built" model. Then save as copies of it to make differing versions of your remodeling ideas. Placing them all in one file is not recommended nor is it workable. Do not waste your time with the "one plan file wish". DJP

I would isolate the hall using room divider walls, Then turn off the Hall's ceiling on its structure tab. Then place a "Ceiling plane to emulate the removed ceiling of the Hall, setting it to the desired angle. Then place my skylights above the hall. DJP

You can apply-create a poly-line slab with stone as the assigned material. With this, you can control its extent and thickness. DJP

What has happened is VERY unusual. I have been using since version 4 on Windows 3.1 and never had this happen, nor have I heard of it happening to others. Your first impulse should have been to contact Tech Support. You should anyway since this is so unusual and so unwanted. I hope reinstall does the trick! DJP
