  1. I agree with Eric, soffits are harder to work with and edit than poly-line solids. They are too versatile to remain ignorant of them and their creation. They are not hard to create and have an infinity of uses. Look up Poly-Line Solids in your Reference Manual and then make some for yourself. DJP
  2. I have been teaching and tutoring Chief Architect and Home Designer software users since 1999. I believe you will find it to be difficult, if not impossible to find anyone locally, who can, face to face train you. I can help you as I have helped countless others, remotely. DJP
  3. Every once in a Blue Monn someone who never upgraded has posted that they need help with their legacy software. The market for antique software is tiny indeed. I specialize in helping such users so I keep versions 7-19 on my PC. DJP
  4. I have versions 7, 9 and 10 that run on my PC, I have two hard drives, one for Windows 10 and one for Windows XP, the really old versions run on XP and Versions 11-20 run on Windows 10. It is really your choice to make. When I use old version 7, 9 or 10 I am really thankful I have the newer versions though, I have the old versions for people like you who never bothered to upgrade. 5. Such is commonly not Chief Architect oriented but rather video card centric. You might try a little larger or different font. You should make sure your video card software drivers are up to date. If this persists, I recommend that you contact Chief Architect Tech Support for advice. DJP
  6. Pay it or do not pay it, the choice is freely yours or are you actually trying to start a user revolution or just looking to bolster your already made up mind and choice?. In any case, I am already tired of seeing this thread on a Help Forum (er Gossip corner and complaint desk). Merry Christmas to all otherwise. DJP
  7. I am not great at Euro conversions, sorry. DJP
  8. You can rent ArchiCAD 21 for about $1,000.00 per month or get AutoDesk Revit for $2,200.00 PER YEAR! or 3D Studio Max for $1,470.00 PER YEAR!. Considering that, Chief seems cheap to me. DJP
  9. Mick, you can just reinstall X9 and get your own "fresh copy" of the profile.plan. DJP
  10. Yes, that is what I mean and do. Wall definitions can be exported and then imported later into your current profile.plan DJP
  11. Request to become a member of the Beta Team and find out for yourself is my advice. DJP
  12. No, I make my templates from scratch for each new version using the fresh "profile.plan" as its basis. To use an older version's template plan just brings old baggage with it. Customizing a new profile.plan only takes a few minutes to do per - version and is what I do. DJP
  13. NO, the way I deal with this is to let the walls snap as they will and then I work around the leftover results (like rlackore suggested). I sometimes use soffits, slabs and poly-line solids to do what walls, by default, will not do, just to get my work done. I am not picky as long as it does not take too long and looks good when I am done. DJP
  14. I only do black and white elevations and wall elevations using "plot Lines" so I have not seen this as I do not use color at all except for standard and ray-traced renderings. DJP
  15. I suspect that you have developed your template plan over time, using it on projects in the past. Those materials that then show up as "in use" are not actually in use but were in use at one time. That indicates that you have become the effect of your own operating basis. In other words, the way you have been using your template plan is the cause of the excess, unwanted, leftover materials. My advice is to review what you have been doing and change your operating basis which is causing the results you are seeing. DJP
  16. When I sent you an email I got this: "This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients failed permanently: * daddygee@yahoo.com"
  17. When you say "scale of the layout" are you speaking of "Paper Size" to print to or the scale of views sent to layout? There is a "Scale" tool for individual views sent to layout (click on the view, doing so displays the "Scale" tool in the "Edit Toolbar". If you want to change the paper size of the layout file, you do that by way of the "Drawing Sheet Set Up" Dialog found under "File - Print - Drawing Sheet Set Up", look these tools up and use them for resizing/rescaling. 19. Get an NVIDIA 1000 series video card, SSD hard drives, 16 or 32 Gb of RAM and the fastest CPU you can afford ( I prefer AMD myself and build my own systems from parts). DJP
  20. Those "lines" are the edges of 3D faces (triangles) that as Greg said, you should remove in Sketch Up before export. In Sketch Up you select and then delete the offending 3D faces, if you make a mistake just "undo" but you do clean it up first before export as a .skp to Chief DJP
  21. All I can see as options is to use the "View Menu" to turn off the display of "scrollbars, Tool Pallet, and Status Bar", which leaves the main toolbar. That is as skinny as I could make it look, in terms of the active edit mode of the program. for full-screen presentations, I create a walk-through or other 3D animations offered by Chief Inc that can be recorded as animations. 22. Framing does not auto-update unless you have "Automatic Wall Framing" checked in Framing Defaults, this has always been so. DJP
  23. Edit - Default Settings - Dimensions - Primary Format. DJP
